  1. Haggar approached the door with her arms full of flowers, crystals, and other tributes Gifts from the lower ranking druids to their ailing emperor. Being that she was one of the few people allowed in his chamber, it was the least she could do to deliver them. She nearly dropped everything when the door opened, revealing Lotor looming over the side of his father's healing pod.
  2. "I hope I'm not interrupting something." she called out to him as she placed the gifts aside.
  3. "Not at all." He muttered, not looking up. As Haggar came closer she realized he was standing right next to the support systems for the pod, much to close for comfort.
  4. "This is the first time you've come to see him since the battle, isn't it?"
  5. "I've been busy. It's fallen on me to correct every mistake he's made in the past ten thousand years." Lotor spat, curling a wire around one of his slender fingers.
  6. "Some people would say you're the only mista--"
  7. "Watch your tongue." he snapped, tugging lightly on the wire, "In a matter of seconds you could be talking to the new emperor. You may want to stay on my good side."
  8. Haggar grit her teeth, "You wouldn't dare." Magic like electricity began to spark in her palms.
  9. "I wouldn't? Why not?" Lotor asked, a smug grin painting his delicate features, "You don't seem to be above high treason either."
  10. She knew, as anyone who knew the prince did, that reasoning was useless. He was a spoiled child, unable to see the greatness of their emperor, unwilling to reconcile with his past. She cancelled the spell she had been preparing.
  11. It seemed Lotor was tired of waiting for an answer. "I suppose I should just kill him then. Spare his majesty anymore suffering."
  12. "If I arrest you, what should happen to your generals?" Reason would not work, but as with any child, all you needed to do was threaten to take his toys. Lotor finally looked up at her, eyes narrowed to slits. "Your generals, your lieutenants, your advisors, all of those worthless halfbreeds you so stubbornly surround yourself with. I wonder what we'll do with them once you're locked away."
  13. He let go of the wire and walked towards her, drawing his sword "You wouldn't dare."
  14. "No sane soldier would take them in," Haggar smiled as the tip of his blade reached her neck, "Unless of course as a concubine." she watched with smug satisfaction as the rage in his eyes died down. He lowered his sword.
  15. "As an Altean," he began with a resigned sigh, "I thought you of all people would--"
  16. "Enough. I am no longer an Altean. And if I ever see you in this room again I won't hesitate to have you brought in for treason."
  17. Lotor stared down the druid with an unreadable expression. She matched his gaze, undaunted, until he looked away and left. Once the door closed behind him, Haggar approached the coffinlike pod.
  18. She smiled fondly down at the comatose Emperor, running a hand along the glass. "I pray you will be well soon my lord..."
