- Paige's wardrobe is rather minimal, which is how she likes it. Cheap or used clothes that are often discarded when they start to fall apart, all of them skirts, hole-y jeans, and t-shirts of varying band names/animals/nonsensical phrases. Her common "look" always includes some kind of jacket, a black and white track jacket in the warmer seasons, and a furred blue and green checkered parka for the winter. For footwear, knee-high socks of varying colors - not all of them matching - are the norm, with black grunge sneakers with the soles halfway peeled off finding their way into every outfit. On Paige's person at all times is a pocket notebook, which is used for her powers rather than documenting her thoughts. A common sight is her somewhat comically over-sized headphones, which are always blaring some kind of music.
- Because she isn't exactly brimming with cash, Paige's "superhero" uniform is a makeshift ensemble that's geared towards hiding her identity rather than being practical in the truest sense. It consists of a loose pair of black sneakers worn alongside a slimming pair of dark blue cargo jeans with pockets always full of blank notebooks. A slim monochrome grey hoodie with said hood ALWAYS kept raised to keep a suitable shadow cast over Paige's face is worn underneath a large, musty brown leather jacket that's usually kept unzipped. Minor touches include a pair of leather climbing gloves, a bandanna tucked into the front of Paige's hoodie for additional coverage of the face, and the fact that she always keeps her distinguishable hair pulled back into a ponytail.

- Strengths:
- [ul type="disc"][li]Dirty Fighter - Paige doesn't believe in honorable fighting. You either use whatever you can get your hands on to win, or you get beat to the ground. As such, this makes her a very formidable combatant who can often be unpredictable.[/li][li]Quick on Her Feet - You have to think fast and move faster if you want to stay alive, Paige can do both admirably without buckling under pressure (except in circumstances where her phobias are called into question. Her reflexes are honed, enabling her to act at a moment's notice, and her skill at analyzing the opposition for specific weaknesses is an ability on its own. [/li][li]Street Smart - You can't last long on the streets of Gotham without knowing how things work, who to trust, who to look out for, and who to avoid ticking off. Jump City is in many ways the same, just more clean. She knows how to handle herself in the big city, and others could benefit from having her along.[/li][li]Never Quit - Paige doesn't admit defeat, and she'd rather go down fighting as opposed to begging for mercy. Her will to win is coupled with a fierce sense of pride that refuses to be taken away easily. No matter how impossible the situation seems, she'll try to beat it.[/li][li]Protective - Paige isn't a pleasant person to be around, but she'll never willingly let a friend who manages to put up with her suffer. Count yourself lucky if you've bothered to look past Paige's cold attitude and make a friend out of her, because she'll always have your back.[/li][/ul]
- Weaknesses:
- [ul type="disc"][li]Pride - Though her pride can make Paige stronger, it can also be a hindrance if it's obvious that she's outmatched. Because she refuses to admit defeat, she can easily bring trouble on herself, trouble that could have been avoided had she simply surrendered.[/li][li]Mistrustful - Paige doesn't get into the habit of trusting people. Just because you say you're on her side doesn't mean she'll believe until proven otherwise. And if you've wronged her in the past, expect to work overtime to get her to believe anything you say.[/li][li]Cold - Pushing people away is easier than letting them get close. They'd only need a shorter dagger after all. You could be the nicest person in the world and Paige wouldn't treat you any nicer. To get even a glimpse at a side reserved for family, you'd have to be an extremely tolerant person.[/li][li]Phobias - Paige is afraid of two things: water and heights. The former comes from not knowing how to swim, while the latter comes from a very frightful visit to the top floor of one of Gotham's skyscrapers in her childhood. Exposed to either of these elements, and she'll have to struggle immensely against the inborn desire to panic.[/li][li]Loner - Paige doesn't work well with groups. She's used to being self-sufficient, and the idea of having people rely on her and in turn relying on them is unappealing. Expect her to dodge situations like these, and if forced, be prone to going off on her own.[/li][/ul]
- Powers:
- "I call it papermancy. Long story short, I'm the goddess of paper."
- Papermancy: Paige has been blessed(?) with telepathic mastery over all things paper. This can range from napkins, toilet paper, ANYTHING that comes from a tree. With a thought, she can bend paper to her will to form crude weapons such as swords and spears, distract people, defend herself with a giant clustered paper shield, or just plain annoy them (paper to the face, anyone?). Her effective range is limited only by how much she can see her target, so if she can keep her eye on it, she can move it. Her skills extend to her hands as well; she can make the best paper airplane you'll ever see, and she has knowledge of every origami folding technique known to man. A helpful side effect of being the master of her craft (no pun intended); it is extremely difficult for a telekinetic to override her control over paper. At the most, Paige can lift as much paper as she can keep in her sight, as the relative triviality of moving such a substance is mitigated by the need to continuously focus on moving it.
- Defensively, Paige's skills are somewhat limited. With enough materials, it's very possible for her to make a shield of paper thick enough to take one or MAYBE two hits. The quality of the shield depends on the quality of the paper, toilet paper won't do much, notebook paper is the standard, and printing paper is better in almost every way, to use a few examples. The shield can, in some cases, be used as a platform to help her descent and avoid falls that would otherwise kill her. It can also be dispersed willingly to create a highly distracting shower of paper.
- Offensively, Paige's options begin to open up. The "paper weapons" she can create are not as effective as their steel counterparts, but they can still pack a decent -- if not as sharp -- punch due to Paige's ability to increase the density of paper and make it more durable. The trade-off, however, is their pitiful defensive capabilities, with powerful winds or a single attack scattering the weapon into individual sheets of paper. For more low profile attacks, a single piece of paper, when slid over someone's skin at a high enough velocity, can cause a severe paper cut. Alternatively, she can simply make it stick to your face, which is handy for quick distractions.
- Unfortunately, Papermancy has several glaring weaknesses. Despite Paige's ability to make paper tougher, it can still be burned to a crisp, or exposed to a liquid that can make it tear far more easily. Creating paper is impossible, unlike most "mancers", Paige can only manipulate her element. This manipulation is purely sight based as well, she cannot move what she cannot see, making blindfolds or other sight disabling attacks a crippling weakness. As previously stated, the quality of the paper affects the effectiveness of Paige's attacks, so high quality notebook paper will serve her better than a lowly restaurant napkin or toilet paper from a public restroom. Additionally, forming individual pieces of paper into a weapon is accomplished over a short period of time rather than instantaneously, and the act of maintaining said weapon requires a moderate degree of concentration that, while not heavy taxing on her psyche, can be broken relatively easily.

- Personality:
- "No, go on. I'm super interested. Really."
- Calling Paige "sarcastic" would be putting it lightly. She's extremely stoic, cynical, and most of what she says is as snarky as you can get. Nobody is exempt from her cold, apathetic, sometimes irritable attitude (save for a select few), whether they're a renowned hero or fearsome villain. To those she respects, Paige tends to tone down her rudeness, if only out of respect. Arguably though, she doesn't truly "like" anyone outside of her family. You could say that she's just afraid to open up to people, and she would reply with a deadpan remark about your infinite wisdom, then say that she just doesn't like anyone. Really. On a sidenote, Paige smiling is a rare sight, much like a jackalope.
- "It'll be hard to dislike you if you're dead, let's leave it at that."
- Paige is capable of having "acquaintances", maybe even friends, she's not anti-social as far as going out and talking is concerned. She's just the 'tough love' type. She won't hug you tight and tell you it'll all be fine, she'll tell you to face your problems head-on, and that you can only rely on others so much. She's definitely not heartless, contrary to what most might think, not the drill sergeant type either. When she has troubles, Paige is an embodiment of the previous philosophy to an almost absurd extreme. She'll stubbornly refuse assistance out of an embedded desire to be self-reliant. If you help her anyway, don't expect anything but an off-handed remark that she could have "handled it".
- "Hating people isn't worth the time or energy. But in your case, I'll make an exception."
- Paige dislikes a great many things, and it's easy for her to dislike someone if they fit any criteria for "Stuff Paige Doesn't Like". Hating someone specific is a whole other ballgame. With someone who treats most like they're not worth showing emotion to, garnering her full, unbridled dislike for your very being is something of a monumental task. She can handle being on the losing end of a fist-fight, or being cursed and called every distasteful name in the book, and even hurting the people she knows won't get her furious (though she will not in any way treat you seriously anymore for trying to use others to get to her). But if you, say, did something to hurt someone she cared about, you'll find that Paige has a very volatile side, and that she has a way of holding personal grudges.
- "Congratulations, you were competent for once."
- Paige isn't all sardonic comments and monotone snark. She enjoys life and all its attractions, even if she doesn't like to broadcast those feelings to anyone. She has grown to like certain people, and will continue to do so. However, she isn't a friend that will blindly ignore your faults. Do something stupid or morally questionable (by her standards at least), you can bet Paige is gonna call you out on it. Compliments come rarely, and often have a bit of a double edge to them, which can be a little jarring to those who expect ubiquitous praise for their exploits. Respect, something many take for granted, is earned. Paige wants reasons to respect her friends so that returning favors doesn't feel like a waste of time. Even if she's not on good terms with someone, she can have their back if they've proven loyal (helping out during tough times, for example).
- History:
- "The first five years of my life were the happiest."
- Paige was born in Gotham City to Gerald Murdock and Heather Brenson, two bank-tellers that had once aspired toward greater things. Their lives were far from luxorious, but the closeness they shared had mitigated some of that. Their first daughter, Paige, was raised to appreciate what she had, and to remember that she could always rely on family for support. She took those lessons to heart, and for a while she grew up happy. Sure, she wasn't ecstatic about living in the "poor" side of Gotham, but at least she always had something to eat at the end of the day. That, and the fact that Gotham had a notorious crime rate did little faze Paige, as she was always told how the "Batman" kept the streets safe from criminals.
- "I remember when he came into my life. I was young and naive then, and he suffered for it."
- At age five, Paige received news that would shake her world: her mother was pregnant with a second child. While confused as to why nobody would explain how her mother was pregnant again, Paige was more worried about the idea of being an older sister. It felt like a job with a lot of responsibility, something she didn't think she had despite her bemused mother's assurances that she wouldn't be the worst sister in the world. Months passed, Heather's belly grew bigger and bigger, and a visit to the hospital revealed the baby was to be boy. Boys, creatures that Paige considered the worst being in the universe at the time. But despite such crushing news, her resolve to be the best older sibling ever didn't waver. On September 13th, Neil Murdock was born. Tragically, complications in the birthing process resulting in Heather Murdock passing away, something that devastated the Murdock family.
- "We all have 'the person we don't acknowledge' at one point in our lives. That was how me and my brother were."
- When she and her father returned home with Neil, the reality of it all was numbing, to say the least. Death wasn't a new concept for Paige, but the deaths she'd seen were in movies, and it always happened to bad people. The death of someone as "good" as her mother was an alien concept to Paige, it just didn't seem possible. While her father silently grieved in isolation, Paige felt a flurry of emotions that couldn't be contained. She was furious at a world that would take someone so close to her away and confused as to why her mother had to die when she was obviously a good person. Most of all, she felt nothing but contempt Neil, the newborn who was the cause her death in the first place. All Paige could do was hate Neil, despite her father half-heartily insisting that nothing was his fault. Regardless, Paige had come home changed for the worse. She was liable to lash out at anyone at the slightest provocation when she wasn't holed up in her room that she refused to leave. Worse, she had little issue with opening showing her disdain for her little brother, further driving a wedge between them.
- "I made dad's life hard when I hit my teens."
- At age fifteen, Paige was a fiercely rebellious person, her father a struggling alcoholic, and her brother a quiet but silently bitter recluse. Night time excursions into Gotham's streets became the norm for Paige, with her need to be alone overriding the fear of what lurked in the shadows. She would frequently encounter many children her age; homeless and orphan kids who liked to rough-house with each other, something Paige was all too eager to join in on. Fighting was a hobby Paige took to instantly, unfortunately her inexperience lead to several tussles ending badly, to the amusement of many of her opponents. This only pushed Paige to work harder. She would observe her opponents's techniques, memorize them, and eventually use their weaknesses to her advantage. She started winning these street brawls against renowned fighters, something that earned Paige some much desired respect among the other children. This behavior wasn't exactly hidden knowledge in Paige's family, and it drove a wedge between her and her father, who had taken it upon himself to give Neil the love that Paige denied. The two frequently argued with many arguments turning into shouting matches that led to slammed doors.
- "When you think life can't get any more unfair, it throws a curve ball."
- The day before Paige's seventeenth birthday, her father was the victim of a drunk driving accident. For Paige, she could only feel numb, a product of years of repressed emotions and a desire to "toughen up" kept her from letting her despair show. For Neil, he was faced with the realization that the only person who showed him any true affection was now gone, and he was left with a sister that loathed him. The two were placed into an orphanage, something Paige adjusted to far easier than Neil, who was often the target of bullies who sought to capitalize on his meek nature. Paige found herself standing up for her little brother at moments like these, something the two of them never acknowledged. In Paige's mind, she realized that Neil was all she had left, and losing him was something she wasn't going to let happen. This meant that her old habit of finding trouble would have to stop. That, and her mistreatment of Neil, though her disdain didn't completely vanish.
- "I don't like adoptive parents, that's all I'm saying. At least they gave me and Neil some...bonding time."
- Paige and Neil were adopted a month after their admittance into a local orphanage by a middle class family that admitted their love for red-headed children. A week later, the Murdock siblings were sent back after Paige broke the nose of her adopted parents' kid after she had nearly pushed Neil down a flight of stairs. This would be the start of a repeated pattern of adoption, followed by an incident, often instigated by Paige when she felt that her or Neil's safety was threatened, followed by a return to the orphanage. All the while, Paige started to become more involved in Neil's life, much to his annoyance due to her sarcastic, insulting kind of "love". The two bickered, but no matter how vicious Neil's insults were, Paige never once gave in and left him to his devices. She made a promise with herself to try and change for the better, mostly for herself.
- "Jump City. It's a lot cleaner than Gotham, that's for sure."
- A time came when Paige had come to begrudgingly accept one of her foster families; a couple who had raised a child that had gone to serve in the military and knew better than to try and "get to know" her and Neil. It still came as a surprise when the couple spilled a surprise: a move to Jump City, where they had both landed jobs at a company that specialized in manufacturing security systems. Paige didn't object, as she had thought of taking Neil and hiking out of Gotham before, a fantasy plan, but an idea that was often entertained. A month of packing possessions, moving, and unpacking possession in a sizable apartment flat later, and the Murdock siblings found Jump City largely preferable over Gotham any day. The move didn't solve their problems, but things had started looking up.
- "I knew about superheroes. Gotham had the Bat family, and Jump City had the Teen Titans. Did I want super powers? Not really, but I didn't have a say."
- It was only recently that Paige discovered that she was a superpowered being with the power to control... paper. While the revelation wasn't making her jump for joy, finding out that her power was a pithy as papermancy was frustrating on its own. Revealing her powers to Neil didn't help, as he found his sister's horrible luck hilarious. Nonetheless, the two decided to keep her abilities a secret, as their foster parents were not exactly fans of superheroes, referring to them as "hooligans" that "destroy government property with reckless abandon". However, unbeknownst to them, Paige had taken to crime-fighting as a night time hobby, albeit without an official costume or alias. It was a means to deal with repressed grief in a more noble way, though her occasional theft also made the job a little worthwhile on the financial side of things.
- "I have a lot of regrets, and I've said and done a lot of things that still weigh on my shoulders. Can't feel sorry for myself though, can't cry and wish I'd done things differently, just gotta keep my head up and try to makes things better."
