━ PERSONALITY: a popular saying is that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover... more like you shouldn't judge people based on first impressions. the immediate thought that comes to mind when anyone meets arai chizu is something along the lines of meek or calm, as if she's the type who couldn't stand her own against even a grasshopper. honestly, that's probably the biggest misconception a person could have in their life time. her almost submissive persona is a sort of defense mechanism she uses in order to mask honestly just how strange she is... and boy, is she strang. chizu changes her emotions like she would change her socks -- which, when you think about it, isn't the best comparison because she doesn't like wearing socks, but you get the point. one moment she'll be very smiley and happy, ready to take on whatever the world has to throw at her, and the next she'll be mad and complaining about the smallest things, like how she hates bicycles because she fell off one when she was eight. she's not very fond of being looked down on -- which happens a lot, because not only is she the youngest of the group, but she also happens to be quite short too. she often tries to build herself up and act like she's older than the rest of her friends, which can often lead people to believe she's the most mature of their group. she's not. her friends actually find it really adorable how she tries to act older than she'll ever be able to act, and always end up cooing one way or another about it. another thing that really defines chizu as a person is that if she doesn't like something or someone, she'll never fail to make it known. she has a strong aversion to anything/anyone that annoys her, and if it doesn't seem like its worth her time, she'll end up whining and basically doing whatever she can to make sure its not in her prescence. she says that she only does that to scare off people she doesn't like... but oops, that type of personality is something that she has grown so accustomed to that its stuck with her no matter what. the simplest way to sum chizu up is SO immature, like a small child with a one track mind. she often spends time obsessing over memes and anything funny that has the ability to make her and those around her laugh. she has a bit of a tendency to be loud... yeah, its not really a tendency. she's LOUD, LOUD, LOUD in all caps, and doesn't really care who she shows it around. more often than not, chizu will shriek at the top of her lungs for no reason (and she'll usually end up using the excuse that "she was bored" or "nobody was paying attention to her.") she's the kind of person who dramatically bursts out into song, singing whatever comes to mind at the top of her lungs even though she's not... the best. anytime she does something bad, like tipping over an expensive vase or "accidentally" eating the last slice of cheesecake, she'll blame it on one of her friends -- they've grown so accustomed to it that, while they don't take anything she says as truth, they'll just brush it off or ignore it. after all, how can you get mad at someone so adorable? despite being very childlike, she can actually be really wise and say things that actually make sense, if she'snot being whiney. she doesn't believe in sugarcoating, and prides herself on living life by saying whatever she believes. she's blunt to the point where it can sometimes come off as rude, and no matter how offensive the statement is, she won't take it back. in one word, though, chizu is definitely just plain ANNOYING. she only acts like such a child because she is very insecure, and constantly needs approval from others due to experiences during her childhood -- which is why, more often than not, she comes off as super clingy. although she doesn't really like to admit it, at the end of the day, she definitely lives up to the title of maknae. her friends often complain about her and tell her how annoying she can be, but they know how sensitive she is and are actually EXTREMELY protective over their youngest. honestly, chizu is just a lil fluff who gets on your nerves in the best way, and just needs to be protected.

━ BACKGROUND: born and raised in ishinomaki, japan as the younger of a pair of twins, chizu's upbringing wasn't exactly the most pleasant. it wasn't that they didn't have enough money to live comfortably, or that her parents were absent all the time. it was just that there was an obvious bias among the family from the day she and her sister were born. she wasn't exactly sure if her parents knew it, but they showed much more affection and pride towards natsu -- natsu, who learned to walk and talk first, was the teacher's favorite during grade school, class president and valedictorian during high school; natsu, who showed potential in professional gymnastics, and could play five instruments before she turned ten. chizu spent her whole life living in the shadow of her prodigal twin, the one who everyone preferred to her -- teachers, because of her good grades, her parents, because of what a pride she was (like chizu wasn't?), girls, because they wanted to become best friends with her instead of chizu, and guys, because they wanted to get to know natsu through chizu. it seemed as if she could do nothing better than her twin, until she discovered that... she could. the one thing that chizu did seem to have an aptitude for was learning other languages, not that her parents seemed to care. they were too busy gushing over how amazing natsu was. despite this, chizu was and still is on good terms with her sister -- natsu, who was so perfect that she was modest enough to try and get her parents to notice chizu too. after graduating high school, though, chizu decided she had enough and she couldn't handle it anymore. she applied only to schools in other countries, and chose to move to korea for college, to escape the shadow she had spent her whole life living in.

━ HOW YOU ACT AROUND HIM: at first, chizu is very unsure of how to act. there are seven unusual boys living with her and her friends, and she's never had an experience similar to the situation she's been thrust into. hell, she can't even remember the last time she'd even talked to a guy. naturally, she ends up trying to avoid confrontation with any of the guys and usually hides behind one of (or all) her friends when in their presence. unfortunately for her, that isn't a very good tactic, and sooner than she would've liked to, she ends up having to interact with them... by herself. specifically, hoseok. rather than freaking out, though, she decides to try and play it cool, acting how she always does (which doesn't really work, and she ends up trying REALLY hard not to be too strange.) soon, though, she realizes that she doesn't have to do anything special because wow, they're practically the same person in terms of how loud and weird they are? after that, chizu just clicks with him. they end up spending A LOT of time together, and nobody is too eager to stop them because... chizu's never really been so open with someone that isn't one of the girls before. the both of them LOVE planning out pranks to play on the others, and are never suspected as the culprits because they all end up turning on each other and ignoring who really orchestrated the scheme. after a while, though, she starts to realize that she has feelings for him, and is honestly scared to death by the thought of it. she starts to act really strange around him, avoiding him and just being overall un-chizu-like -- until he confronts her about it, and they both end up confessing to each other.

━ HOW HE ACTS AROUND YOU: from the moment he saw her, hoseok was entranced by chizu. actually, he thought it was hilarious how she was trying to hide behind her friends and avoid talking to other people, and was curious to see why exactly she was like that. so, he went out of his way to try and become friends with her -- and it took so many tries to get her alone, but when he finally did, he definitely didn't hold back. he practically word vomited when telling her about himself while simultaneously asking about her, and just like that, they clicked. at first, he's unused to the awkward atmosphere that surrounds them, and usually ends up cracking some sort of joke to try and relieve the tension. it's at this point that he discovers he REALLY loves her laugh, and he ends up trying to do whatever he can to make her crack up. in fact, they often end up having conversations where they just discuss trashy pickup lines, and when one says a particularly good one, they get really excited. whenever he comes across a meme, he ends up sending it to them, and they have many a meme war over the phone because of her obsession with them. the instant they discover their mutual love for pranking, its like they've become each other's best friend. they team up and are a dynamic duo -- bonnie and clyde, batman and robin, harry and ron, shaggy and scooby, etc. when chizu begins to avoid him, though, he starts to get the feeling that she doesn't enjoy the time they spend together anymore. he's known about the (not platonic) feelings he's had for her for a while, and he's never really gotten the courage to tell her, but when she starts to ignore him, he feels as if she's just going to stop talking to him altogether. he gets really scared, and ends up confronting her, only to tell her that he likes her. the reciprocation of feelings, of course, is a bonus.
