- Fatman Versus: A DOOM '93 mod and "GigaWAD" for the GZDoom source port. Heavy emphasis on beat-em-up action and platforming in the vein of River City Ransom, Kunio-kun, Double Dragon, and classic Data East beat-em-ups and platformers like Karnov and Bad Dudes VS Dragonninja.
- Later versions add two additional characters, and the mod overall modifies the games' mechanics to mechanics very similar to shoot-em-ups, in particular, Touhou and Zeroranger. The game itself eschews the traditional Doom health mechanic for one like Zeroranger, where a character has eight maximum hit points, or Life Tokens; getting hit reduces their Life Tokens, and losing all of them sends you back to the start of the map.
- With a score mechanic as you kill enemies and pick up Score Tokens (replacing Health and Armor Bonuses), you fill a meter; when the meter fills, you gain a Life Token. If you finish an Episode, your Score is tallied and fills another meter that acts as the crux of the game's life mechanic; filling it will give you a Continue, up to a maximum of Eight Continues every time the meter is filled, with it requiring higher scores every time you gain a Continue. Continues can be used up when you lose all your Life Tokens to replenish them up to the default starting amount, but can also be used up to activate the game's equivalent of the God Mode Sphere, Enlightenment, for the duration of the Map.
- The game also has a Graze Mechanic; dodging enemy attacks without taking damage or letting them pass by as close as possible without taking damage fills a Graze Counter, which can be used at 50% or more as a Smart Bomb, stunning enemies onscreen and destroying their projectiles.
- The mod follows three characters: Fatman, Recca, and Sammy. Each have their own weapon styles; Fatman plays like a beat-em-up character, Recca plays like a shmup character, and Sammy is the requisite Doom loadout.
- Fatman: "HEART∞BREAKER" Charles Finley, the hero who stopped Ninja Ned and saved the world from disaster thrice over. A former member of the International Police's Supernatural Operations & Mitigation Overwatch Division (SOPMOD) formed from the ashes of the original Experts of Justice, and a student of martial arts under the Experts' former chief, "Silent" Chujo. Known to possess the strongest explosive attack on Earth. Practically a new Kevin Keene.
- Recca: A SABER-class android inhabited by a Super-AI based on [REDACTED] and a fellow student of Silent Chujo, though never having joined the International Police. While much of her past is classified, Fatman has known her for years and keeps this knowledge to himself at her request. A laid-back, sultry, crude fratboy of a miko who is rather more content to laze around her shrine and do nothing at first glance, yet she is known to Fatman as a great information broker and often gives him information in exchange for donations to the shrine or fast food from a takeout joint. Recently remodeled her body to resemble a three-tailed kitsune, as a poorly-thought out measure to attract shrine donations from pilgrims. Practically a fratboy robot version of Yakumo Ran.
- Sammy: Samuel "Sammy Hagar" Hayden, a former requisitions and logistics officer for the United States Armed Forces and direct subordinate to President Michael Wilson during the Arizona Insurrection that kicked off Ninja Ned's attempts for conquest of the world. Now a courier of few words, his soft-spoken but gruff demeanor is that of a noble man jaded by the horrors of war, but still holding onto the optimism of a prime hero. Strongly believes that freedom is the right of all sentient beings. Practically is a human Optimus Prime, in other words.
- Fatman plays like a Castlevania character with tones of Klonoa, Kunio-kun, and a bit of Ninja Gaiden or Vice: Project Doom.
- Fatman's weapons are as follows:
- - Fists: Fatman's fists and feet are his primary melee weapon. Primary Fire punches with the left, Secondary punches with the right. Use the Tertiary Fire keybind to kick with your Mighty Foot, dook-style. Fatman can perform different combos and special moves only in this weapon.
- - Chainsaw: Fatman equips the Power Glove & Blazer Glove to boost his attack power and start using his Photon Shackle, a chain of Photonic Energy designed to restrain enemies with its hard-light manacle. Primary Fire punches with the left; Secondary Fire throws out the Photon Shackle at an opponent, latching on if enough damage is done to weaken them. While latched on, you can strafe around the Shackled opponent and even switch weapons; moving forward will launch you towards them Meathook-style while moving backwards will draw them to you Hanzo Hasashi-style. Tertiary Fire allows you to pick up enemies and objects to be thrown with Primary Fire as well as latch onto and swing from certain targets. Using this is vital to the navigation of the GigaWAD as its levels are built around these Castlevania-esque mechanics as well as the "Enemy Boost Jump", a mechanic very much like Klonoa's Wind Bullet.
- - Pistol: The Lucerna Æternam Mark 88 Variable Zapper light gun is designed after a famous console entertainment system's light gun and functions very similarly to a certain Galactic Federation bounty hunter's Paralyzer emergency pistol. While it has unlimited ammunition--a godsend for the discerning Ninja slayer--its normal fire leaves something to be desired, hence the Mark 88's inclusion of the Kinetic Charging Module on the front of the barrel. A sophisticated kinetic dynamo with a minimized self-charging 2700K LED flashlight built-in, this allows the Variable Zapper to charge its shots as you move, the full powered shot doing more damage and a guaranteed stun effect upon contact. Primary Fire fires the shots of the Zapper in 5-round rapid burst, Secondary Fire slows movement while charging the Zapper quicker. Secondary Fire allows for an overcharge of up to 200 percent but causes a cooldown effect. Tertiary Fire pistol-whips with the gun.
- - Shotgun: The Fists of Juno, a pair of remote-controlled hovering fists creatively "liberated" from the corpse of a deceased bureaucratic robot of Lucerna Æternam's rivals, Traxus Heavy Industries. Primary Fire throws rapid punches with the fists; Secondary Fire fires off cones of energy from the fists' palms. Tertiary Fire blocks with the fists in front of you, reducing all incoming projectiles to 1 DMG at the cost of 10 Shells per projectile, but cannot block hitscan attacks.
- - Soup Shotgun: The Fists Of Wrath, a quad-pack of remote-controlled hovering fists designed by Traxus Heavy Industries to answer to Lucerna Æternam's "liberation" of the Fists of Juno. Why have just two fists when you can have four, after all? Primary Fire pummel rushes with the fists, Secondary Fire fires off waves of fist-shaped energy that can be chained with proper timing to fire off bigger waves. No Tertiary Fire, instead inheriting the Mighty Boot.
- - Chaingun: The Lucerna Æternam Mark 10-8 Super Variable Scope is the successor to the Mark 88 Variable Zapper. It fires off a chained salvo of high-powered Photonic Energy pellets--lovingly called LEMONS by its development staff--that rip through enemies like a 10,000 degree knife through a skeleton's parka. Or something. Primary Fire fires the salvo of shots in 10-round rapid burst; Secondary Fire charges the shots for increased damage, with four levels of charge, Megaman X style. Tertiary Fire can be used in tandem with the Photon Shackle to pick up enemies & objects Gravity Gun-style and launch them at enemies at high speed. Fun note: Charging with the Super Scope draws in nearby ammo drops from enemies & converts them into overcharge for the weapon! Yeah, LEMONS!
- - Rocket Launcher: The Traxus Heavy Industries Ballistic Explosives Ordinance Utility Manifestation Bracer is a weapon of dubious legality. Designed as a wrist-mounted miniaturized alchemics laboratory, it is designed to synthesize and provide its user with a variety of explosives ordinance. Secondary Fire with the BEOUM Bracer equips a Bomb, which is then thrown--or set--with Primary Fire. Tertiary Fire switches between the types of Bombs at your disposal: Haze Bombs for stunning enemies of almost all sizes, Freeze Bombs to freeze enemies for use as stepping stones, Blaze Bombs to ignite enemies on fire, and Bounce Bombs to throw fragmenting bombs that explode into slightly-homing mini bomblets. (BTW, it's pronounced "beeeeuuuum", like a Demoman.)
- - Plasma Rifle: The Traxus Heavy Industries Erasure System Jewel Option Intelligent Device is a popular and highly sought after virtual assistant for any civilian contractor of the Galactic Federation. Originally offered early on in the days of the UAC's construction of the Mars installations, this orbital crystal orb held inside a sophisticated computational matrix with a very helpful Artificial Intelligence capable of reminding you of important dates and events, playing music, performing searches on the internet, and keeping staff company on lonely nights. Unfortunately, due to blatantly illegal implementation of Jjaro black box technology, the majority of Jewel Options suffered from their AIs going Rampant, raving about greens and oranges, suffering from fugue states, hallucinating events than never happened, and trying to get their users murdered through various means; as a result, the entire series was scrapped, save for the few remaining as collector's items. Primary Fire deploys the Jewel Option for cover fire, Secondary Fire switches its firing modes between Bullet > Beam > Shield, Tertiary Fire alters its Deployment strategy between Side Fire > Back Fire. May also have a secret deployment mode activated during Enlightenment activation...
- - BFG: The legend among legends, and a rarity to be seen in the Milky Way Galaxy, is the Vox Industries HARBINGER-Class Orbital Weapons Platform Targeting Array Deployment System. This massive hunk of green metal deploys a salvo of holographic projection rockets that 'paint' the ground with targets. Once fired, the targets are locked onto by the nearest HARBINGER-Class OWP and fired upon by the Platform's salvos of Kinetic Ion Cannon Lances, dealing devastating and unblockable piercing damage to all enemies within the range of the targets. Primary Fire fires off one salvo of painters; Secondary Fire launches the entire gun's compliment of ammo to unleash as many salvos as possible. No Tertiary Fire... because with this motherfucker you REALLY DON'T NEED IT.
- Recca plays like a mix of Touhou, Okami, and Pocky & Rocky.
- Recca's weapons are as follows:
- - Fists: Recca slashes with her clawed fingers and her tails. Primary Fire swipes with a light attack, Secondary swipes with a heavy attack, Tertiary Fire is a spinning tail slap.
- - Chainsaw: Recca equips the Photon Gohei, a gohei with shidō tassels made of photons. It's basically a beam gohei. Primary Fire hits foes with a very nice and satisfying *BONK*, Secondary Fire binds foes with shidō of Photons and can then pick up bound foes with Tertiary Fire like Fatman, allowing her to throw them, use them as shields, or bounce them for jumps. For all intents and purposes, the same as Fatman's Photon Shackle & Blazer Glove.
- - Pistol: Ofuda. Primary fire starts chucking them rapidly in an uneven spread, Secondary Fire slows down movement to narrow the firing spread significantly, allowing precision firing. Tertiary Fire is a quick-melee swipe with the Photon Gohei that can deflect bullets when properly timed.
- - Shotgun: Celestial Paintbrush. A melee weapon, a giant paintbrush disguised as a miko's broom. Primary Fire fires a bladelike swipe; Secondary Fire is an iaijutsu-style drawn slash that can be charged to create a field of photons in front of her, then released in a three-slash combo on that field with a giant ink drawing of a "0" with a slash through it, an equivalent of Vergil's Judgement Cut. Tertiary Fire spins the Celestial Paintbrush in front of her, collecting shots that can be deflected back in a spread.
- - Soup Shotgun: Double Paintbrush. Primary Fire swipes with the left, sending a blade of ink, Secondary swipes with the right. Tertiary is a twin-brush iaijutsu attack that must be charged, but creates a flurry of swipes of ink in front of her. Basically an equivalent to Agni & Rudra from DMC3.
- - Chaingun: Celestial Reflector. Primary Fire attacks with sweeping swings of the Reflector as a disc weapon, holding down the keybind will swing it at a wider arc while tapping it swings it in a tighter, closer arc. Secondary Fire spins the reflector in front of her, reflecting enemy bullets and projectiles (save for rockets). Tertiary Fire orbits the reflector tightly around her for a time, acting as an AOE attack and deflecting shots.
- - Rocket Launcher: Photon Hakkero. Fires a stream of concussive energy blasts with Primary Fire, Secondary Fire is a charged shot that fires a stream of concussive energy. Tertiary Fire is a large AOE concussive blast that deals no damage, but launches melee-range enemies and Recca into the air like a rocket jump.
- Plasma Rifle: All three characters (as well as Expansion Pack Characters) share the Jewel Option. This is a mandatory feature. Fire Modes are universal across all characters.
- BFG: Recca's BFG slot weapon is Scroll Of Divine Buster, a scroll that fires... well, a Blaster-3 Tier Divine Buster, a massive fuck-huge, fuck-you beam of shining pink energy that murders everything onscreen in its path and with invisible tracers around it. If you've ever seen that Nanoha StrikerS clip of Nanoha befriending Quattro you know how screwed the enemies are.
- Sammy is the closest to a vanilla Doom loadout... but very much a mix of 2016 and Eternal. You'll see.
- Sammy's Weapons are:
- Fists: Sammy starts with a pair of wrist-mounted ORANGE TRANSPARENT CHAINSAWS. Primary Fire is a left hook, Secondary Fire is a right hook, Tertiary Fire is a downwards swing with both fists.
- Chainsaw: Sammy wields a glowing orange Crucible Chain-Axe. Basically the Doom 2016 Chainsaw and Eternal Crucible combined. Sammy can't pick up enemies with the Tertiary Fire or stun them with Secondary Fire, instead using the Chain-Axe as a grappling tool to knock enemies horizontally behind him with Secondary or vertically below him with Tertiary, and when not near enemies, dashes horizontally with Secondary and vertically with Tertiary. The animation has him spinning with the Chain-Axe, allowing him to lodge it in swing targets to swing around like Fatman and Recca.
- Pistol: Akimbo Mark V Pistols from Doom 2016. Primary fires single shots, Secondary charges a shot with the left or fires normally while charging the right, Tertiary charges with the right or fires normally when charging the left.
- Shotgun: Sammy *starts* with the Eternal Super Shotgun as his Shotgun slot. Primary Fire fires two-round rapid with a tight spread of buckshot each, Secondary fires the Meathook and allows you to grapple normally, either pulling towards you with Back + Tertiary or you towards the target with Forward + Tertiary, or fires both barrels with another Secondary tightly focused at the enemy with two Explosive Shots. THIS is the slot for Sammy that allows for grappling.
- Chaingun: Sammy's Chaingun slot is the Lightning Gun from 2016's Multiplayer. Primary Fire fires a condensed stream of lightning energy, Secondary fires a Siege Mode-style Gauss Cannon shot, Tertiary fires a stunning Stun Bomb blast at an arc.
- Rocket Launcher: Sammy gets another 2016 Multiplayer weapon for this slot, the Static Rifle. A powerful piercing SABOT round with explosive properties is the Primary Fire, and it builds up a kinetic charge while moving, with Secondary being a Zoom mode for sniper shots and Tertiary kicking the kinetic charge into a temporary Speed Booster mode allowing for 125% faster movement speed.
- Plasma: Jewel Option.
- BFG: ...Sammy gets the BFG 9000. I don't know what to tell you. It's model-wise 2016's BFG but it's the Doom Classic BFG in shot and pattern, one fuckhuge plasma ball and 66 invisible tracers that fuck everything up.
