Old!Yi Lin (and sometimes Korra) Snippets:

Korra: "I am Avatar Korra.  I wish to train under you in the ways of Airbending, Lady Yi Lin..."
Yi Lin: "The *Avatar?!*  By the spirits-"
Korra: "Yes, you are one of the few Airbending maste-"
Yi Lin: "-What *happened* to you? I mean, *damn* Dad, you let yourself *go!*"
Korra: "What-"
Yi Lin: "Your butt is *huge!*"
Korra:"What?!"
*Yi Lin takes a moment to look the Water Tribe Avatar over.*
Yi Lin: "And you're a girl, now!"
Korra: "...I think I have the wrong person."

Yi Lin: "Wow, you *suck* at waterbending.  Who taught you, my *brother?*  I mean, don't get me wrong, he's a *master* waterbender.  But he sucks at teaching."
Korra: "Master Tseng is a very well respected and *effective* teacher in the South!"
Yi Lin: "Yeah, but have you ever caught one of his classes on a day when he doesn't give a flip?"
*Suddenly, Korra's memory stirs, she is thirteen again, and surrounded by her peers.  Her destiny is still a mystery to her.*
Tseng: "Your waterbending can be effected by your emotions, you have to let your emotions flow, like the water, like the river...that sounded a lot less asinine in my head...look, just go over your usual drills."
*In the present day, Korra cringes a little.*

Korra: "Aren't you a little *old* to be out dancing?"
Yi Lin: "I can go dance if I want!  I'm not old! *Pshhh* Old!"
Korra: "Shouldn't we be traini-"
Yi Lin: "I had *sex!*  Last week!  Last week!  BAM!  Sex! You think an old person can do that?!"
*Korra's hand instinctivly begins moving to pinch the bridge of her nose, as it has been doing many times this whole week.
Korra: "This conversation is going somewhere I don't want it t-"
Yi Lin: "Favorite position and everything!  It was...what was it called? It was on the tip of my tongue...I can't remember..."
Korra: "..."
Yi Lin: *Sigh* "I'm old..."
Korra: "We don't have time for you to sulk."
*Yi Lin begins walking over to a fountain, looking at her reflectiong and running her hand softly over her face.*
Yi Lin: "My face is all wrinkled..."
Korra: "Would you get a grip, al-"
Yi Lin: "-And my father is a girl with a FAT butt."
*A vein Korra is beginning to become very familiar with twitches in her forhead.*
Note: (Whether or not Yi Lin actually had sex, and with who, is probably something that's best left private.)

*YEARS UPON YEARS EARLIER*
(Just assume *everybody* was at the North Pole for whatever reason, parents and all)
Yi Lin: "Hey Mom!"
Katara: "Oh sweetie, it's been so long!  Everyone will be so excieted to see you!"
Tseng: "Really, sis, you couldn't at least write?  What's with the eyepatch?"
Yi Lin: "It makes me look really cool, huh?!  Wanna see it?"
*She starts undoing it and hands it over to Tseng*
Tseng: *Looking down at it* "Wow, this is really nice material."
Katara: "I'll say, but why do you we-WHATHAPPENEDTOYOUREYE?!"
Yi Lin: "It got messed up, why do you think I was wearing this?" Tseng: "I-I figured you just thought it looked cool!"
Yi Lin: "...who do I look like, Hayoda?"
Katara: "We're getting you to the Spirit Oasis, now!  Maybe we can still do something!"
Yi Lin: "Oh, I hadn't thought of that!"
Tseng: "You didn't?!  What a surprise!  Is there anything else you decided to stay quiet about?!"
*A young girl's voice comes from inside the ferry, followed by a bounding little girl, roughly four or five years old.*
Little Girl: "Mommy, you said you'd wake me up when we got here!
*The words stun the entire welcoming party into silence.  The two waterbenders there to greet Yi Lin are only able to look back and forth between the two, struggling to get enough breath to say something.*
Little Girl: "Are you my grandma?"
Yi Lin: "'Yes' to both questions!  Mom, I want you to meet someone!"
*Katara faints from shock for the first time in her life.*

Upon exiting a sweets shop:
Daugher: "Mom, you have more than me."
Yi Lin: "Hrm?  Oh!  U-uh, well...yours is more nutritious!"
Daugher: "It is?"
Yi Lin: "Yeah!  See these soft ones here?  The ones filled with sweet bean paste?
Daughter: "Yeah?"
Yi Lin: "Those are made with sticky rice flour!  That's...starches and stuff, like vegetables!"
Daughter: "Oh, okay!"
*They start walking off with smiles on their faces.*
Daughter: "Mom, I don't believe you for a second.  Share."
Yi Lin: "You act too much like your uncle, Ms. Smarty pants."

(First drama one. Takes place in Nikiru's chambers shortly after Yi Lin arriving.)
Nikiru: "I can't believe she's finally come back!  We hadn't heard from her in all this time!"
Irah: "I know.  Listen, Nikiru, there's something I heard from Tseng on his way back from the harb-"
Nikiru: "Oh!  I should check on which room she'll be given, excuse me!"
Servant: "Yes, my princess?"
Nikiru: "Has Yi Lin's room already been prepared?"
Servant: "Yes, your highness, she and her daughter will be staying in the western atrium of the palace.  I was off to make a few last minute preparations for dinner tonight. I'm sorry, but I must be going.
*Uncomfortable silence fills the air as Nikiru simply stares at the servant leaving.  It's a long time before she finally turns back around to Irah.*
Nikiru: "...Daughter?"
