  1. FAQ
  2.
  3. *LOCKPICKING: How do I do this/why is it not working right?
  4. Alright so this is not intuitive at all and arbitrarily difficult until you actually get a rank in Lockpicking. Your cursor is an orb in the center of the "lock". The goal is to move the orb around until it hits a sweet spot and turns gold. Then you rotate the lock itself, while keeping the orb in the sweet spot until the lock is picked. If you do not see the orb in the center of the lock or the movement is not working right for you, try to restart or remove your controller and use KB+M (there seems to be some conflict with a few anons using xbox controllers and lockpicking). Try to be quick about it, the orb starts moving on it's own and if you take too long rotating the lock you'll start to fuck up.
  5.
  6. *KUNESH: Fuck this guy! He kicks my ass/I can't pick his lock/where do I get dad's tools from him?
  7. If you got the lockpicks from Fritz don't bother using them on Kunesh's chest, you won't succeed. It's ranked as very easy but for some reason it's crazy tough and this is made harder by not having any skill in lockpicking yet. He's also a middle aged drunk redneck and will beat your scrawny wimp ass in a fair fight. If you wanna smash your balls against the grindstone and try to beat him for bragging rights go ahead, but there is a far easier method. Go to the Inn where Deutsch is whining about politics and agree to help your friends teach Deutsch a lesson. After this little quest is done, meet them behind Kunesh's house and have them follow you to deal with the guy. Dude is a straight up punk in a 4v1. Don't forget to pick up the axe he has sitting outside.

  9. *MUH FRAMES/EUROJANK: "Anyone else getting 20 frames with X setup?" "Anyone else having CTD during X?" "Who else gets 10 second loads during conversations?"
  10. Game is CPU heavy. Also if you fell for the 8GB RAM meme I have bad news for you. Try to turn post processing and shadows to medium first and then lighting if that doesn't help enough. Check your drivers are updated, etc. If you are having issues with long loads do you have it installed on an HDD? If so, it's Current Year, stop living in 2013 Gramps. Some locations in the game also are just really prone to ~4-6 second freezes, like the bridge separating the main castle of Talmberg and the lower quarter with the training yard/merchant.
  11.
  12. *MOM'S CONVERSATION: "I need to choose the most optimal answers to max my stat gains, what do I say to Ma at the start?"
  13. This really doesn't matter much at all, especially throughout the Prologue. You get a Vitality buff after picking 100 Nettles, at rank 10 Herbology you get easy Strength gains and, more importantly, the rights to meme about leg day in the thread. Perhaps Agility or Speech, since Agility is important everywhere and Speech is mostly gained by Haggling - which gives consistent gains but it still takes forever.
  14.
  15. *WAIT YOU CAN SAVE THERESA?:
  16. When you are fleeing Skalitz, at the base of the hill you run down is a horse you are expected to climb on. Most people don't notice an optional objective to rescue Theresa. Right before the horse, a couple of soldiers are hassling Theresa. If you run up and wack them with your sword, they will start to chase you - allowing Theresa to escape. Alternatively you can whistle for your horse, which makes them leave her alone as well. This is really unnecessary since no matter what she is romance-able even if you don't save her, and since the segment is a pain in the ass as it is, it's not advised to bother since you gain nothing from it. If you don't rescue her Theresa says she was able to slit their throats, but it leaves what else happened a bit ambiguous. I guess if you want to guarantee your miller-maid strange is pure go for it.
  17.
  18. *GETTING PAST THE TALMBERG GATE: "How do I get this asshat to let me out?"
  19. There are two ways to get out of Talmberg when you're locked down. The first is to act like a guard and bluff your way out. You can either convince the gate guard to let you out if you look like a soldier, or talk to Lady Stephanie and ask her advice on how to get out. She gives you the same idea but also gives you 25 pitycoins to help you out. Afterwards, head to the battlements where you kept watch and saw the Skalitz survivors during the night. There is a large unlocked door towards the end, by the gate that leads to the lower part of Talmberg Castle. Go in there when no one is looking - you'll know you are in the right place if you see some red shields on the floor. Grab one and then loot the other chests you can for a full guardsman's outfit. Then talk to the gatekeeper to be let out.
  20. The second method is to go to the bridge separating the upper part of Talmberg Castle and the lower yard. Jump off, but be mindful of the drop, it's easy to injure yourself. No matter what option you choose, you won't be able to get back until after the prologue, so make sure when you leave that you are done with the place.
  21.
  22. *RUNT: "Can I beat the bald guy with the club?"
  23. No, fuck Runt. No matter what he will eventually beat you.
  24.
  25. *LOST IN THE DREAM: "How do I save my parents in the dream?"
  26. Your vision is fucked and you can't see shit during the fever dream. Beat the two soldiers and then look at your compass at the top of the screen, follow the big shield and it should lead you to the scripted event to get you out of the dream.
  27.
  28. *HOW DO I CLEAN MYSELF: "Where can I get my clothes washed?"
  29. You can tell your gear is dirty with a black smudge icon on it in the inventory. Washbins are scattered throughout each town/village but you can always visit a Bathhouse and have your clothes laundered and wash yourself for cheap.
  30.
  31. *WHERE CAN I SELL MY STOLEN LOOT: (Insert question involving the Executioner/ring quest here)
  32. Millers are the guys you want to sell your stolen shit to, but first you need to do Peshak's quest. He tasks you with digging up a ring by the Executioner. Ignore the whole spade thing, the Executioner has the ring in a locked chest in his house. Go to him and use a speech check to convince him to visit the miller. This causes him to leave the area, and you don't have to worry about his dogs barking or him finding you breaking into his house. Pick your way into the chest for the ring and follow the rest of the questline which introduces you to another miller along the river. This will be your main fence for the time being.
  33. If you can't pick/pass the speech check you can either kill the Executioner or buy the ring off him. Buying gets buggy and you need to actually get a spade and try to follow the quest normally if you want to go that route otherwise Henry won't get the option to buy it.
  34.
  35. *WHEN CAN I GET: "Lockpicks, Blunt Weapons, a Horse, Bow, etc."
  36. -Lockpicks: walk into Kunesh's house and discover he has a locked crate. Henry should comment that he should get lockpicks from Fritz. Go and meet your buds after Deutsch makes a fool of himself outside the Inn, follow them to his house and BEFORE you start throwing shit, talk to Henry's friend with downs, he will give you 4. Don't use these, save them for later. After you flee to Talmberg there is a Trader named Votava. He is in the lower portion of the castle, separated by the bridge, where the other peasants mill about. He's sitting down - you can't miss him. He will sell you 10 more lockpicks for 18 coins each, I recommend buying him out - that should be more than enough to last you for quite awhile.
  37. -Blunt Weapons: There is a mace in the upper castle of Talmberg. Check the sleeping quarters of the soldiers, you will have to pick some chests to find it. If that doesn't work, try the Armory where you get your soldier's gear for the main quest. It's the only place you can get a blunt weapon in the prologue and once you leave the castle on your Main Quest to bury your parents you can't go back until the story plays out a bit.
  38. -Horse: The horse you fled home on is kept with the others in the upper section of Talmberg Castle, right by your bed. You can take it with you when you head out on the quest to bury your family - but it really doesn't matter. After your encounter with Runt, the horse is gone and you'll be legging it again for awhile.
  39. -Bow: The Huntsman on the outskirts of Talmberg's village (not the Castle) can sell some for a hefty price. However if you break into his house and then lockpick some chests, you'll find ~6 different bows and around 8 different types of arrows - which should have you set for awhile. The Huntsman's shack is on the map slightly to the South East of the rest of the village.
  40. -A Bed: There are a few beds that you "Own" normally through story outcomes (Peshak's house, the Talmberg Stables) and you can also rent a bed from Innkeepers for a pittance.
  41. -A place to store my loot: Each Inn or bed you own has an unlocked chest that you can store your stuff in. Each Chest is constant and shared between every location, so something stored in Talmberg's Inn Chest will also show up in Peshak's house.
  42. -More Savior Schnapps: Buy them from various shopkeepers. They are expensive early on, but later you'll have enough coin to where it's not a big deal. You can also brew them yourself in Rattay:
  43.
  44. *Pick 1 Nettle and buy 2 Belladonna
  45. *Pour wine into the apothecary cauldron
  46. *Add one handful of nettles
  47. *Work the bellows until the wine bubbles. Turn the hourglass once, then again when the sand runs out - keep the fire going
  48. *After the sand runs out again, toss both belladonnas into the mortar and grind them, then toss them in the wine
  49. *Keep the mix boiling for one more turn of the hourglass
  50. *Get one of the Phials and pour the mix in - easy Saviour Schnapps. Now you don't have to worry about saving.
  51.
  52. *TIPS*
  53.
  54. -An easy way to level Stealth is to keep attempting Peshak's pickpocket tutorial. It levels when you are crouched and doing illegal activity. Trying to level it by pickpocketing/lockpicking townspeople is risky until you have it ranked up since getting busted can get you thrown in jail. You are free to do it on Peshak as much as you want without risk.
  55. -You may find some peasants that are willing to buy illegal goods who aren't millers. Don't deal with them. They call out your shit is stolen and will only offer you a fraction of what your stuff is worth. Also it seems every trade with them actively lowers your reputation with the people there, like they are letting everyone know who they got their goods from. It's best to store your stuff in a chest for later.
  56. -Level Herbalism early. You can pick herbs by crouching and interacting with them, and they are everywhere. This can be done as soon as the game starts by your parent's house. Once you hit rank 10 you can get a skill called "Leg Day", this gives you Strength experience while you are picking herbs, a great way to level a combat stat without actually having to be in combat.
  57. -Get a dagger but don't expect to actually use it as a combat weapon. You can't equip it and fight with it in battle like you may expect - it's used for special actions like stealth kills for behind.
  58. -Some quests are timed! Be careful when you accept (or don't accept) a mission. Some of them have time limits and will activate or end while you are faffing about, like Philip during the In God's Hands quest. If it seems like the quest is time sensitive in game, assume that you should make it a priority over gathering dandelions or banging bath wenches.
