  1. >It’s dark.
  2. >You reach around yourself.
  3. >You’re lying on something soft.
  4. >Maybe a mattress?
  5. >Your mind is muddy, thoughts coming and going.
  6. >You hear a metallic jingle and feel something tight around your throat.
  7. >You move around and try to stand up.
  8. >The world wavers and you notice you’re dizzy.
  9. >Everything is still black.
  10. >You feel your eyes being open and you look around.
  11. >There’s truly no light.
  12. >True darkness.
  13. >As your mind slowly clears, you try to touch the thing around your throat.
  14. >A collar.
  15. >A freaking collar!
  16. >A heavy metal chain is attached at its back, by your neck.
  17. >It jingles when you move.
  18. >You feel around with your hands.
  19. >Your lying on what’s basically a large mattress.
  20. >Very soft and comfortable, actually.
  21. >Suddenly you hear something distant skittering across a hard floor.
  22. >You tense up before you notice that it’s moving away from you.
  23. >And within a brief moment it’s gone.
  24. >But you’re still stricken with an unpleasant sense of horror.
  25. >You have no idea where you are and how you got there.
  26. >You have no clue about what your surroundings are like.
  27. >You could be in a small room or a vast, open cave.
  28. >And you’re apparently not alone.
  29. >Your senses become hyper-active as you instinctively try to figure out what sort of place you’re in.
  30. >It’s no use, of course, as all you can sense is darkness and silence.
  31. >The jingle of your chain is uncomfortably loud in the noiseless environment.
  32. >You lie down in your pleasant spot and decide to wait.
  33. >There’s not much else you can do.
  34. >And, who knows, maybe it’s night and in a few hours some sunlight will seep into this dark place.
  35. >Then you hear the clopping of hooves.
  36. >A calm trot.
  37. >It’s distant and muddled, though.
  38. >But getting louder.
  39. >Getting closer.
  40. >You sit up, preparing for whatever’s about to come.
  41. >A door creaks open.
  42. >Just ahead, and the clopping becomes WAY louder.
  43. >You’re in a room and the pony in question just entered it.
  44. >Your heart beats faster as you have no idea if this pony is friendly or hostile.
  45. >But, no, a pony…?
  46. >You remember…
  47. >A bright green light comes to life.
  48. >It sits on the tip of a twisted, dark horn.
  49. >A head draped in a heavy, loose mane looks at you with large predatory eyes.
  50. >Draped in the thick shadows created by the sole light-source, Chrysalis looks more intimidating than ever.
  51. >Oh shit.
  52. >Diarrhea-level shit.
  53. >”Finally awake!”
  54. >Her joyful grin fills you with horror.
  55. >You’re her prisoner!
  56. >”I was worried I had used a too strong spell. The last time you woke up much earlier than expected, after all.”
  57. >She sends the light upwards, where it hits a ceiling and attaches itself like a magical lamp.
  58. >The glow turns soft and illuminates the room properly.
  59. >A quick glimpse around confirms that you’re in a bedchamber with a single door and a large bed.
  60. >And you’re situated in its corner.
  61. >”Feeling curious? I suppose you would.”
  62. >She trots closer, looking as happy as ever.
  63. >In that typical wolfish manner, as if what makes her happy sure as hell wouldn’t please anyone else.
  64. >You worry that this is indeed the case.
  65. >As she approaches, you crawl backwards.
  66. >But only to bump against the wall.
  67. >She laughs.
  68. >”Oh, don’t worry. The tables have turned, but I don’t squander my property.”
  69. >She gives you an absolutely-not-reassuring smile.
  70. >And then narrows her eyes and displays a malicious grin, baring those scary fangs of hers.
  71. >”Still, the tables have turned.”
  72. >Fucking motherfucker!
  73. >Why the hell did she take you with her?!
  74. >Is she going to eat you or something?
  75. >Or is this just a “fun” game of hers?
  76. >Goddamn sociopath.
  77. >She turns around and slowly walks away from you, looking around as if lost in thought.
  78. >”But, really, what should I do with you? Seeing as your now my personal thing to do with as I please…”
  79. >A hoof comes up and taps her chin.
  80. >”Decisions, decisions…”
  81. >Oh for crying out loud…
  82. >You’d have made a smart-ass remark at this point.
  83. >Her sarcasm is beyond obvious.
  84. >But the situation kills your usual attitude.
  85. >Her head turns and she looks at you.
  86. >… She’s not noticing that too, is she?
  87. >”You’re not uncomfortable, are you?”
  88. >You man up and try to be daring.
  89. ”Extremely.”
  90. >Her grin returns.
  91. >You fucking hate that grin now.
  92. >”Well, that’s a shame.”
  93. >Turning around again, she walks over to you.
  94. >You already sit against the hard wall and can’t back away any further.
  95. >She leans her head down and brings her face very, VERY close to yours.
  96. >She locks eyes with you, and you can’t make yourself look away.
  97. >Her emerald, slitted eyes practically try to eat your soul.
  98. >”Because you’re mine now.”
  99. >Her voice is pretty much a sharp whisper and you can feel her breath against your face.
  100. >In a calmer corner of your mind, you note that it smells so-so.
  101. >She backs away, looking perfectly pleased.
  102. >”And the things I could do with an ape…”
  103. >Oh no…
  104. >What WOULD she do with you?
  105. >You can barely imagine it, but it still gives you a dreadful feeling.
  106. >She suddenly giggles.
  107. >”Don’t be so frightened! I’ll take very good care of you, don’t worry.”
  108. >She winks with a large, green eye.
  109. >You know better than taking those words seriously.
  110. >Then again, she’s not exactly trying to comfort you.
  111. >”Now, I’ll go get you a little something. I’m sure sleeping under all that magic has taken a toll on you.”
  112. >She walks over to the door, opens it magically, and exits while closing it behind her.
  113. >Actually, now that you try to think about it, you’re kind of hungry.
  114. >And thirsty.
  115. >And strangely tired.
  116. >Odd. Didn’t you sleep?
  117. >Well, she did say something about “magic” and the spell being strong.
  118. >Whatever. Not like you have any real understanding of that stuff.
  119. >You have swiftly been left alone, but thankfully the light still hangs in the ceiling.
  120. >It’s nice to be able to see.
  121. >Getting a break from your captor, you look around.
  122. >The room is fairly large, and littered with things you could expect from a grand bedchamber.
  123. >A large bed covered with dark red sheets.
  124. >A fireplace, although no fire in it currently.
  125. >Big wardrobe.
  126. >And so on.
  127. >The stones that made up the naked walls and bared floor (it was only partially covered by a round, ornate carpet) was a rather dark grey.
  128. >It gave the place a somewhat chilly atmosphere.
  129. >That, and the fireless fireplace.
  130. >Your feel with your hand around your neck.
  131. >The collar’s still there.
  132. >Strong leather with no tangible lock or whatever.
  133. >Probably attached with magic, then.
  134. >Thank goodness it’s not metal, though. That shit would’ve dug its way into your skin with time.
  135. >Pulling at the chain, you see that it’s lodged safely into the wall behind you.
  136. >No surprise there.
  137. >It‘s likely long enough to allow you to stand up, but there’s no way in hell you’ll be wandering around in the room.
  138. >If this is how you’re hereby spending the rest of your days…
  139. >Damn.
  140. >This sucks.
  141. >At least you’re still dressed, although you’re shoes are gone.
  142. >Then again, you took those off yourself.
  143. >Actually, you don’t want to think too much about the future.
  144. >You sincerely hope the Princesses or Twilight & Co. are looking for you.
  145. >You have no idea how much time has passed, and it bothers you a little.
  146. >But being in Chrysalis’… hooves bothers you tremendously.
  147. >She was a fun conversationalist in the dungeon, but goddammit if she didn’t try to be sly with you.
  148. >And for all her humour and joking around, some of it had also seemed like serious, sinister statements.
  149. >She has a sense of humour and is capable of enjoying herself in peaceful ways, but…
  150. >There is still that underlying sense of something vile.
  151. >And if the brief chat you just had with her is anything to go by…
  152. >You manage to hear a few hoofsteps before the door is flung open in a green glow of magic.
  153. >Chrysalis steps in with a tray of something hovering besides her.
  154. >Hey eyes immediately land on you, and she shows you a big, haunting smile.
  155. >”Why hello, my dear pet! I brought you something tasty.”
  156. >You shiver internally at ‘tasty’.
  157. >But you can’t deny that you’re actually kind of hungry.
  158. >Does she know what humans eat?
  159. >Or apes, at least?
  160. >She seems to know something about apes.
  161. >The tray comes down in front of you.
  162. >A big collection of fruits and vegetables.
  163. >Apples, oranges, carrots, you name it.
  164. >And on top of the pile: A banana.
  165. >… Yeah, you can see the implied joke here.
  166. >You look up at her.
  167. >She’s smiling at you.
  168. >In a self-satisfied manner.
  169. >You’ll admit that you’re still a little impressed she’s not tying to feed you grass and flowers.
  170. >But you don’t comment on the banana.
  171. >So, apparently she doesn’t want to kill you.
  172. >That’s a relief.
  173. >There are, of course, things worse than deat- You really shouldn’t be thinking about that right now!
  174. >She just gave you food and didn’t strap you to a torture device.
  175. >Only worry about pain and agony when it actually happens!
  176. >But you don’t exactly trust her.
  177. >You can’t make yourself.
  178. >She freaks you out now.
  179. >You silently reach for the banana.
  180. >Her eyes follow your hand.
  181. >Does she really have to stand there and watch you?
  182. >You slowly peel the fruit.
  183. >You feel your hunger clearly enough, but her constant stare kind of ruins the meal.
  184. >Your maniacal captor’s stare.
  185. >Fuck it. You shove the damn thing into your mouth and chew.
  186. >Stare or not, you want sustenance.
  187. >You look up at her as you chew.
  188. >Feels a bit like your stern expression might convey defiance, although you mostly just want to see what she wants to do now.
  189. >She just smiles back at you, as if there’s nothing wrong with anything.
  190. >”Well, good to see that you can eat. Now I suggest you rest.”
  191. >She walks over to the door again, before looking up towards the ceiling.
  192. >Towards the little light, you notice.
  193. >Her horn flashes once and everything turns black.
  194. >In the pure darkness, her voice practically haunts you.
  195. >”You could use it, I’m sure. And I don’t want to drag a limb body around tomorrow.”
  196. >You hear her hooves take a few steps across the floor before the door shuts loudly.
