  1. The power went out at the community center so we had to dance in the dark. Being me, I naturally thought "nuclear air burst" or "Carrington event." ;)
  2.
  3. Either one would destroy our electrical grid, sending us back to the Stone Age, and there is a 15% chance of a Carrington event in the next 20 years - much "better" odds than the lottery.
  4.
  5. As for a nuclear air burst, stop with the DNC meme of Russia! Russia! they use to excuse their miserable failure. Russia may not be our friend, but they are a rational civilization that doesn't want to be destroyed in a nuclear exchange. I'm thinking of insane rogue states like North Korea, or maybe ISIS. ISIS can't launch yet, but who can say what they can do in ten years? They could overwhelm a remote missile base in Pakistan, for instance.
  6.
  7. However, the point of mentioning this is to show how our government spends Trillions on "defense," which mostly means bombing the shit out of nations that can't retaliate - yet does not actually protect us.
  8.
  9. You see, our electrical grid would be disabled by the destruction of mega-transformers and there are none to replace them. A government that can spend a trillion and a half on a fighter that doesn't work hasn't bothered to secure those transformers. So if it all goes dark you know who to blame - not that it will help unless we all march to Washington and hang Congress. That won't help, of course, but why not?
