- "He didn't do anything!", Cirrin squarked, alarmed, as Cucali's fist impacted with the wall next to his head. "He's innocent!"
- "Careful," Cucali said, casually drawing her fist back again. "Next one might not miss."
- She swung his fist towards his face, only to pull it back when he screamed, "STOP!"
- "You ready to sing?"
- "He'll do it, he'll do it! They beat it out of him, he swears! He didn't just tell them!"
- Cucali smiled a sickly smile. "Tell them /what/, Cirrin?"
- "That the bar girl's been following you and you didn't beat her up for it!"
- "And who," Cucali grabbed Cirrin by the throat, still smiling, "are 'they'?" She squeezed. "No pressure."
- "Hgk- mercy- they called one of the guys Boxer! That's the only name he knows 'em by! They came in masked up!"
- "Fucking useless piece of shit." Cucali dropped Cirrin, and he fell to the floor, gasping.
- "Can - can he go now?"
- "Whatever," Cucali gave Cirrin one final kick to the ribs, and then turned and walked out.

- "Listen to me," she tried to reason with the masked man keeping watch over her, "I've seen her work and you don't stand a chance! You should run while you can!"
- "Are you seriously trying to give us advice?"
- "She doesn't even like me! Why are you doing this?!"
- "You're where the money is, honey," he grinned.
- "Stop this!"
- But he ignored her, going back to his magazine.
