  1. HostDollarClub 2 months review - KEEP SEARCHING
  2. Normally I wouldn’t dream of making a review after just two months spent with an host, but HostDollarClub a.k.a. Websites by CloudACM - as they’re called now - did some pretty questionable things and I thought to share them so that members can have more elements to use in their search for hosting.

  16. To me, their New Account Information email - which had no package and renewal fee details, no cPanel url and login data, no mail server data...nothing but the host’s dns and a link to their “cloud dashboard” - was already a bit “off”, but it wasn’t an actual problem so it’s not really bad.
  17. But then this provider decided to change its brand name and everything attached to it...without notifying anyone; I only found out because, after days of not being able to access their dashboard (because unknowningly to me their old site and whmcs installation had been deleted), I checked their old url and was redirected to the new client area. It was a stroke of luck; if I hadn’t checked, I would’ve never known about the change because they didn’t notify me. To sum this up, they completely deleted any trace of their old business, opened a brand new one and moved everything over without informing anybody....and barely addressing that silence afterwards (they didn’t even apologize).
  18. After that they repeatedly refused to give me - the account’s owner - my cPanel’s password (required if you want to change it within cPanel) adducing vague “security reasons” to justify the refusal.
  19. When their brand new client area went down and stayed down for days, I decided I had already wasted enough time with these guysa and it was time to browse for a new host (and of course cancel my account with them the moment the client area is up again).

  21. I recommend you do the same: think hard and search a bit more before going with this provider; their staff is kind, but pretty slow to respond and the service - based on this experience - is subpar. There’s plenty of much better alternatives out there.

  24. cloudacm.com.au is dead end too.
  25. Not sure why did you choose them in the first place? Is it because it is super cheap? 1 dollar?
  26. Partly. I needed hosting package for a testing site project, but I had planned to upgrade to a larger plan if my project passed the testing phase. Now I have to restart from scratch with the testing site.

  28. It's really hurt me, When a nine years old community member get this type of experience.

  32. Thank you, but a bit of the blame lies on me too.
  33. Even if it was for a testing project, I chose to pick such a cheap host. Nobody told me to - I prefer to pay annually and didn’t see the sense in starting big and spending 50-60/yr or even more on a project that if it failed would lose me that not so small bit of money.

  36. The provider is back with yet another brand new url (store.cloudacm.com.au/clientarea/) - at least this time they did notify their clients....problem is they also deleted their accounts: when I went there to cancel my account (for which I had to reset my password, because the old one didn’t work) there was no account to be canceled and no trace of it - no invoices, no tickets, nothing. They wiped the slate clean...and I doubt I’m the only client to whom they did this. Best with me though, ‘cuz it means I can move away without worrying about having left anything behind.

  38. Mods can close this thread (I don’t really care to hear whatever the host is gonna come up with to justify themselves). /thread
