Background.
Of all the political books I’ve come to read over the course of my life, the one that has stuck with me the most has been the prince, by Machiavelli. The very first time I flicked through those pages, I realised, not only, that my perception of politics had been completely skewed by my own experiences, but rather that the same issue plagued even the most revered of political scholars and writers. The idea that we only truly understand politics once they have seeped into history and that addressing these issues in the present is both a rigorous task and a gamble on fate led me to create this book. I took the notion that I could provide modern day example of positive traits and characteristics of world leaders as to address to a theoretical “prince” such as in Machiavelli’s work.
