  5. Impact of Slavery in Africa
  6. Slavery has been a major issue for thousands of years, as it imprisoned the lives of millions to a life that consisted solely of doing work for their owners. Slaves received no pay, and little food; the only reason they were fed was to keep them alive so that they could produce manual labor for a longer period of time. Considering that the majority of slaves were of African descent, it should not come as a surprise that slavery has made a giant impact on the continent of Africa.
  7. An inherently obvious effect of such is noticeable when taking a look at Africa’s role in world trade. Considering that Africa played a pretty big hand in transcontinental slave trade, and that people around the world liked the idea of having a slave do all of their work for them, others tried to get more than their fair share. For example, people from other countries, like Romans from Italy, invaded Africa to forcibly capture more slaves; a raid in which left the state of the physical land of the continent in pretty bad shape. As a side effect of taking the slaves, of course there is resulting collateral damage from the forces in order for the mission of capturing slaves to be accomplished in the first place.
  8. Africa was affected by slavery not just in physical ways, but in psychological ways as well. Due to the unreal amount of slaves being forcibly taken from the continent, it can be observed that the continental natives feel helpless in taking on this threat. Also, as it puts their land in bad condition, there is a very poor system of farming, which leads to very little food and of course limited shelter. This only further weakens the citizens, thus making them feel less likely that they were able to fight back for their deserved rights.
