  1. Bruins celebrate Stanley Cup victory over Canucks
  2. The Boston Bruins have emerged from choker to champ after they emerged victorious against the Vancouver Canucks. Their score of 4-0 at Rogers Arena for Game 7 made them the decisive winner of the Stanley Cup. This was their first championship since 1971 and judging from their strong form and their no-nonsense attitude this season, it became evident that the Bruins were serious in wanting to claim the coveted cup.
  3. Goalie Tim Thomas won the Conn Smythe Trophy and deservedly so, for foiling the Canucks every attempt at a goal. With an additional 37 saves in this game alone, Thomas now owns the NHL record for most saves in postseason with 798 saves, most saves in a Stanley Cup final with a total of 238 saves as well as most shots face in a postseason with 849 saves. The two centres, Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand both scored 2 goals each and contributed to the 4-0 win. 43 year-old, Mark Recchi went out in style after winning his third Stanley Cup before his retirement.
  4. Unfortunately for the Canucks it was a disappointing game overall, especially for goalie Roberto Luongo who performed only average during the match. The Canucks were especially disappointed with the loss as the team had been the best performers this season which caused many of the fans to take to the streets in Downtown Vancouver and causing havoc.
  5. The Bergeron scored the Bruins first goal in the first-period with 5 minutes left before the end of the first period. Bergeron scored a one-time hit at point-blank range which Luongo was unable to save.
  6. Marchand then scored a beautiful wraparound goal 12:13 into the second period. This would be the rookies first of two goals he would score this game before setting a record for playoff goals by a Boston rookie. All this while, Thomas seemed to be invincible and did not let even one goal through.
  7. Five minutes later, Bergerson raced up to the goal with a loose puck the Canucks had unintentionally let go off and without looking back, collided into the goalie Luongo. All this while still managing to bring the puck into the goal and scoring his second goal of the night.
  8. Finally, Luongo was still not able to save a shot from Marchand which would later become the last goal of the night. After that goal, Luongo might never be able to live it down.
  9. At the end of the day, the Boston Bruins ended 39 years of disappointed with a comfortable 4 goal lead, leaving the Vancouver fans dismayed and upset over the teams disheartening performance that night.
