  1. That lack of standards has literally killed this site. It's why each generation has left this site. Lucid could have stopped this long ago by enforcing standards of gameplay the served to keep this site devoted and competitive. If training is social I don't see it. I see a bunch of idiots devoted to keep things as they are with no clue or intention to do anything more or better. The reason I stopped digging into training so hard is because I saw someone say she was thankful for training competition. I've been saying forever that CM has killed this site, and people willing to move on are what we need to make this site competitive. This site by nature IS competitive regardless of CM not being competitive. What we need are more setups like DLYV that not only are competitive, but train people to use this deductive skills (something not required for CM) to win games. That's my goal: To tie thinking into winning. Maybe something you're not seeing is competition on this site is gone. "Competitive" setups are really 50% tossup based on roles. CM manifested the clear leads and takes blame mentality of this site and until we can breed that out of players this site will remain where it is.

  3. The mods can not make CM competitive, there only option is to remove it. You don't get to be an asshole and expect ordinary people with power to be impartial to you. When they are, things like Doconme filing a report after every game of BAC happens. The rules should black and white and moderation should be grey. We need to also either have totalitarian leadership or shadow leadership anything in between doesn't serve the site.

  5. Conner failed because he's a joke. Similar to PJ, he disagreed with something and choose to act out instead of being mature and accepting that he's not a child at home with his parents, so he can't always have his way. There was no reason for Conner to act like that regardless of message which is why he was taken down.

  7. You seem to get the point, here's what you don't know: Once everyone that plays a social game understands the rules and how to play, you move on to the next stage of playing the person to person game. When everyone understands how everyone acts in most situations, you have to do more than just claim a role or flip a coin if you want to win the game. The community lost this ability because most of the vets that played this game at that level left. This has nothing to do with ingrained setup mechanics, however one thing that ingrained setup mechanics do are help both sides avoid causing an auto loss. To this end if we could get people willing to do more than serve their pr's, we'd be a lot better as a site, however with CM mechanics ingrained into the brain of the average user, we're not going anywhere without drastic change.

  9. The community enables strong players, depending on the strong player. You have to define strong though: There are herders like KHNM who drawl in everyone like sheep and get them to do as they wish. There are the superior intellects like Saint, Maxwell, and Jaguar whose conviction and rhetoric are so strong they can identify and destroy targets that act out of line at will but are generally immune to so the social aspects. The final archetype I noted was the leaders like TheEraser who were talented both in literal reading and meta based decisions. Those where the people that inspired me to compete. I personally prefer meta because behavior doesn't occur in a vacuum. Back when meta was gameplay, it was easier going forward to punish people for mistakes or send someone on tilt in order to understand how they play, because they would go into the next game ready to compete and fix their mistakes or just leave. I don't think many of the 2011 crowd were strong. Most of the strongest players acted like a clique that wanted to get as many as they could to the last day or just play to help each other out. They relied too heavily on ignoring meta and trying to play the game literally that they either couldn't see or chose to ignore their own flaws. All of that is meaningless in a community where I can literally only aggressively pitch in to get scum lynched over 2 days and be seen as scum.
