background : she was born in hongkong and grew up in hongkong too. when she was younger, her father, which was korean (ann naa didn't know), left her mother and older sister. she was raised up by her mother and grandmother, in a korean style of living, although they were poor. at the age of 14, her older sister had to stop studying to provide for her family and her education. ann naa was exposed to kpop when she was 8 and since then decided that one day, she would go to korea and become a kpop star as well. when she told her mother about it, her mother was hesitant and wanted ann naa to study, graduate and get a proper job. her family was poor and thought that it was a waste of money to send ann naa overseas but they saw how hard she was practising her singing, dancing and rapping and how she had been dieting to become skinny. after a year, ann naa's mother was dating a fairly rich guy and obviously, he became the sister's stepfather. her stepfather saw her potential and decided to send ann naa overseas. her sister decided to follow ann naa overseas to korea too. as ann naa had been secretly learning korean so communication was not a problem. ann naa went to a normal korea school and one da, she got scouted by one of pledis's talent scouts when they heard her singing when she was casually singing to her friends.
