  1. Encyclopedia: Urgles - Demas
  2.
  3. The Urgles are one of the Realm's most mysterious entities, despite being not much more than a gatekeeper to Oryx's castle.
  4.
  5. Their origins are shrouded in a fog of mystery too thick for even the most advanced of scholars to see through. When questioned of the monster's origins, the Realm Eye simply spouts back it encyclopedic description of the monster. Some legends say they are as old as the Realm itself, created long before Oryx ever ascended to power, an abomination crafted by a juvenile, bored god. Others claim they are the byproduct of the creation of the Realm itself, a twisted monstrosity created by a "glitch" in the formation of new Realm after the old one collapses. Oryx seems to care not for its foggy origins, simply drafting it as one of his gatekeepers and letting it kill what it desires.
  6.
  7. The Urgles vary greatly in appearance from one another on account of the many different types of monster parts that comprise their quivering, fleshy mass. They have been observed to have anywhere from one to six eyeballs of varying size and color. Interestingly, despite their apparent inability to speak, Urgles have sometimes been observed with a mouth, although this is a very rare occurrence. The mouth makes groaning noises that don’t sound like any known monster, and the mouth also spews noxious goop; the goop is not poisonous, but smells like the innards of a Slime after it was left in the sun for a week.
  8.
  9. The most confusing aspect of the Urgles’ biology is the Trap Elements that are fired out its body periodically. Scholars have no way of studying these Traps, as they dissipate into dust shortly after leaving the Urgle’s body. They fire a viscous, web-like fluid similar to that created by Arachna the Spider Queen. The most fascinating part of these Trap Elements is the variety of negative effects that adventurers have experienced when coming into contact with the fluids. Some say it drains their will to fight, some say it blinds them, and some say it corrodes their armor. The exact nature of this fluid is unknown.
  10.
  11. The Trap Elements’ origin is also unknown. They appear to be fired from inside the body of the Urgle, so they seem to be generated inside the Urgle’s body. However, capturing an Urgle is unfeasible on account of their size and aggressiveness, so dissecting one to discover exactly HOW an Urgle generates these Elements is impossible as of now. The leading theory is that Urgles have a slight magical affinity and “summon” these Elements using a spell, but there is no possible way to confirm or deny that is the case.
