  1. Rhialla Background:

  3. The Society of Arts and Leisure
  4. Well, if one is honest, The Society began out of pure and raw spite. The youngest Daughter of a Noble ran away from home due to her overbearing Mother and was not seen for years until she returned home, with stories of Adventure from all over the World and even the Feywild and the things she had experienced - and been taught - there.
  5. Using the Wealth from those Travels, she bought a nice little City House (incidentially across her family's Home) and began The Society as a place for the upper percentages to enjoy good food, drink, dance and all the other ways by which one could spend good time in style.
  6. Eventually, as she grew older, she began taking in Men and Women as apprentices and thus The Society became somewhat self-perpetuating.
  7. (They are mostly all Bards with the odd Alchemist in there)
  8.
  9. Membership fairly simple. Everyone is equal once they finished their Apprenticeship (which is open for everyone who thinks they can hack it) with only the current Head (Dame if Female, Maestro if Male) being elected among all the full Members.
  10.
  11. Payment is done in two ways. First is Entrance to The Society, to enjoy the open program (Song, Dance, Theater, etc). You may enter for free once a Month (if suitably dressed), pay Entry for an evening every week or become a full Patron for unrestricted access. Most of the Society's basic cash flow comes from Patrons, as Patronage is quite a status symbol.
  12.
  13. If a Guest wishes for some quality time with the Members, they can ask for it (and be denied if the Member in question says no). If they say yes, they pay for either (in rising price) an Afternoon of their Time, an Evening, a Night, an entire Day and up. Experience of the Courtesan in question also pays a role in price.
  14. Apprentices are only available to people their own age and under the permission of their assigned mentor. If, say, a Noble spends his afternoon riding through the countryside with a Courtesan, their offspring might ride with their apprentice a bit behind them.
  15.
  16. While Sex is a part of what is offered, the focus on The Society is Entertainment, the spending of a Good Time in Pursuit of one perfect day of joy. A Client may visit them because they enjoy the way a Courtesan sings, they enjoy the Conversation or any other way they feel stimulated. Some even come for fencing practice or simply to be 'Unavailable' for a day as they sleep in a Suite behind the well guarded doors of The Society. Even Advice, and sometimes just a listening ear, is available.
