He turned the sub around, retracing the route they’d used to get there. After a few minutes, still deep below the surface, the sub approached a huge tunnel with closed doors. The doors slid open, and the underwater craft slipped into the tunnel. The doors closed behind it. WHOONK.
The water-filled tunnel led directly to the deepest basement level of LuthorCorp Tower. Luthor docked the sub on a platform that lifted it out of the seawater, which dripped off the sub as it rose. Technicians moved in to secure the sub, open the large hatch, let the water drain out, and remove Metallo, still deactivated for everyone’s safety.
Luthor climbed out of a smaller hatch and stepped onto the walkway, perfectly dry. He watched the technicians strapping Metallo to a transport device that hovered a few feet above the floor. “Take him to the lab,” Luthor ordered. “We’ve got work to do.”
