  1. miko miko mii ✨Today at 7:50 PM
  2. I was able to get in a few years ago into the 1 day con but never again.....
  3. I'm on a """wait list"""
  4.

  6. Someone say QuitterTalk? I will not have this.

  9. competition will always be there in the expectations and previous experiences of the consumer
  10.
  11. olivinearcToday at 7:50 PM
  12. personally, and this is just me idk if the others do AA too (but if they do it'd be great to chat)
  13.
  14. TommDere ☆ Done/50,000Today at 7:50 PM
  15. so optimally, git gud.
  16. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  17.
  18. olivinearcToday at 7:50 PM
  19. but like... i don't bother with one day cons and stuff
  20. just bc more effort than they're worth
  21. some people do a con every weekend and others are fine with like 3-4 a year
  22. depends on the ones you throw your hat into, and some are lottery or fcfs so even beginners have a chance
  23.

  25. I will put you in our application queue for review. Since this is a 1 day show, our dealer/artist room is small and usually our returning vendors will keep their spots.
  26. We usually don't have any openings but if we do, I will let any applicants know if they make it in.
  27. what they told me when I finally got tired of waiting for applications that would never go up and emailed them a month ago
  28. :realcry:

  31. that's business
  32.
  33. miko miko mii ✨Today at 7:52 PM
  34. I've been to all their recent cons
  35. they have room
  36. they're just lazy
  37. as always....
  38.
  39. olivinearcToday at 7:52 PM
  40. poorly run cons usually don't mean good sales numbers anyway
  41.

  43. that's also business

  46. gambling on new vendors can reflect badly on a convention

  52. "reflect badly" yeah uhhhhh they don't care about that
  53.
  54. olivinearcToday at 7:52 PM
  55. i mean if they were that concerned they'd just jury it
  56. all cons do screening for everything lol
  57. it's so the AA actually stays AA and vendors actually bring relevant goods
  58.
  59. TommDere ☆ Done/50,000Today at 7:52 PM
  60. miko has now been banned from all cons
  61. twitter told me that
  62. must be true
  63. anyway
  64. i wouldn't focus on cons
  65. they're not worthwhile unless you can share a table/space with somebody who already has a following to drive traffic(and have a comparable product) or have a following yourself.
  66.
  67. olivinearcToday at 7:56 PM
  68. that literally doesn't matter though
  69.
  70. TommDere ☆ Done/50,000Today at 7:56 PM
  71. literally explain why
  72. because i call bullshit
  73.
  74. miko miko mii ✨Today at 7:56 PM
  75. but what if I want to do cons
  76.
  77. olivinearcToday at 7:56 PM
  78. well, from my own experiences tabling at cons with little to no following when i first started, as well as comparing myself to others who have experienced these cons and tabling at them
  79. what you're assuming is also bullshit
  80.
  81. TommDere ☆ Done/50,000Today at 7:57 PM
  82. then any outside opinions are meaningless and you should do it anyway
  83.
  84. olivinearcToday at 7:57 PM
  85. you don't need a following
  86. people have eyes
  87.
  88. TommDere ☆ Done/50,000Today at 7:57 PM
  89. but i know you care about the business side
  90. so
  91. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  92.
  93. olivinearcToday at 7:57 PM
  94. like you can't just move goalposts and try to state facts that aren't true
  95. the whole appeal of an online fanbase/following vs selling at cons is that you explicitly don't need some sort of outside help to attract people to your table besides your own merit and merchandise. people come to the AA to purchase goods, they have eyeballs, that's literally all most people need. sure, yes, some people will actively seek you out because "omg you're olivine!" but you'd literally have to have like over 20k followers to have that be some sort of noticeable effect, and even then, it'd have to be at larger cons such as AX or fanime besides 10 or so extra sales on friday or sat or whenever.
  96. some people make 10k a con and have next to no online following because it's simply a different situation, that's all.
  97.
  98. TommDere ☆ Done/50,000Today at 8:01 PM
  99. and some make nothing
  100. it's a gamble
  101.
  102. olivinearcToday at 8:01 PM
  103. i mean, everything is a gamble
  104. we're literally in a chat where most of us try to fund our games through kickstarters or patreon
  105. there's a lot of similar overlap between how vn and AA is handled because some of it is how we market and what we make and some of it is pure luck
