  1. Tinten wiped a bit of grim off his mirror to get a good look at himself. Stubble covered a face that was in its early thirties. A bandana wrapped around his head covering one eye. That was all pretty usual. It was Cirrin who pointed out was different in this scene.
  2.
  3. “Hey pa, why's you wearing a fancy suit? Are you's getting a job again?” Said suit was white and not too dissimilar to something Colonel Sanders would wear.
  4.
  5. Tinten didn't turn around, he just looked at his son through the mirror. The kid was wearing his skull and crossbones shirt and had spiked up his hair again like he was from the animes. “Now now, a young'un shouldn't be so eager to poke his nose in his father's business”. Tinten unwound his bandana and put an eye patch over his head, adjusting it to cover his missing eye. He didn't think that scar made the prettiest of sights and didn't do to go parading it around in polite company.
  6.
  7. Cirrin didn't go away though.“How's I supposed to do that? We live in a trailer!”
  8.
  9. “Back in the day there were times a fella would'a been grateful to have any old roof over his head. Now go make yourself useful and siphon fuel offa the neighbours.”
  10.
  11. “Aw for fuck's sake, you're taking the chevy? I was going to er, I promised my friends I was going to give them a lift to... places.”
  12.
  13. “Language, junior. Tinten R Ruthar didn't raise no cusser.” Tinten, without turning his head, narrowed his eyes and moved one hand towards his belt.
  14.
  15. Cirrin quickly lowered his head. “I meant, aw sucks!” He decided he would swear as much as wanted later when his dad wasn't around.
  16.
  17. Tinten's hand stopped moving towards his belt and instead went to ruffle his sons's hair. Cirrin pushed the hand away to stop his hair getting messed up. “You can go racing to impress that girl you like some other day.”
  18.
  19. Cirrin quickly turned away. God why do dads have to be so embarrassing. “Solena and me are just friends is all.” Then a moment later he quickly realised something and added. “And I wasn't doing no street races with our car!”
  20.
  21. “Tinten R Ruthar didn't raise no liar neither, leastwise not a very good one it seems.” Still, Tinten felt a little pride that his son was calling it 'our' car now. He had the Chevy longer than he had Cirrin and, although it was hard at first to let go of it even a little, he was perfectly happy to pass it on as long as he trusted his son to take care of her.
  22.
  23. “Come on you're different! I can lie well enough to the law for you. Remember that time where I faked crying so good the sheriff gave me a lollipop instead of opening up the trunk?”
  24.
  25. “That I do. You done good there. Now take a couple bucks and do something fun with your friends ya hear? Tinten slipped out some bills and handed them to Cirrin, who proceeded to hold them up to the light.
  26.
  27. “Are these real this time?”
  28.
  29. “Yes. Now git already and give a guy a little privacy.” Cirrin ran straight out of the trailer, excited. That dealt with that. Tinten spat on his hand and ran it through his hair to smooth it back. On the way out to his car he picked up a pretty looking wild flower. Hot diggity he's got a date to go to.
