  1. >The Cacodemon looked over herself in the mirror with a tear in her eye, brimming with nervous joy.
  2.
  3. >The demons she mad met before undergoing the process to become this... human shape, they all said it was probably mutilating yourself just to put on a fake skin.
  4.
  5. >But they were wrong. This was... This was HER. It was the most Her that she had ever been. It wasn't a skin she was putting on, it was what had been trapped underneath her old skin all along! She was like the pretty bugs the info-doc had told her about that came out of the old skins they made!
  6.
  7. >She'd never actually seen a reflection of herself, so that just meant this first time really meant it WAS her right?
  8.
  9. >Whatever. She was this now, and she was beautiful and she was happy and this was the start of her always being able to be beautiful and happy. She hugged her soft warm body, luxuriating in how... touchable she was.
  10.
  11. >She placed her hand in the mirror and silently promised to her reflection [I shall never forget this feeling] in gurgling hell-speech. Human words were still awkward on her tongue, and she needed to say this clearly to herself. To the world.
  12.
  13. >She took a deep breath, steeled herself and left the room, and moved on to processing. This was the next bit step, finding out where she would get to live. She had seen the city in the info-graphic video they showed all new-comers. The big shiny buildings, clean and silver, dotted with bright lights. It was nothing she had ever seen before, and she was giddy with anticipation for the chance to live on one of these tall castles. She was also excited to eat human food. The lady who helped her dress in human clothings told her they grew food in the ground! It just came out of dirt and water and then they could eat it!
  14.
  15. >It was actually a bit dead at this hour, her group had been the last of this recent batch of demons to emmigrate.
  16.
  17. >There were a few demons in line. A big Baron with very pretty hair, and an archvile with very pretty eyes. She hoped they were as happy with their bodies as she was. It was just so RIGHT! The disembodied voice that the humans had summoned said to take a ticket and wait for her number to be called. Heh. Numbers. That was very new and exciting! She even had these hands now to be able to count them off!
  18.
  19. >69. That was a nice number, the numbers fit together, like friends! FRIENDS! That was such an exciting thought in her mind. She hoped she'd make friends. She wanted to have so many friends, and live in a big human castle together with them and eat dirt food and be happy.
  20.
  21. >She sat down on one of the benches available, and idly kicked her legs (which was very fun to do!) as she waited, patiently. As time went on, she found herself making a weird noise. A simple Hmm-hmm-hmm kind of sound with her mouth. Was this that music thing? That video had music.
  22.
  23. >She scanned around, taking it all in. There were green things in little pots. There were colorful and thin tomes of knowledge on the table nearby, and the ceiling glowed with happy white light! Not all red and angry like hell.
  24.
  25. >But then her eye caught something less happy looking. It was an Imp. She seemed to be not taking it as well as she was. She was nervously tapping her foot and had her head in her hands.
  26.
  27. >That wasn't right. This was a good thing happening! A chance to be happy and not afraid anymore. Maybe she ate a bad dirt food...
  28.
  29. >She floated over, and spoke up, testing human words akwardly in her mouth.
  30.
  31. >"Hhhh... Hallo. Are you feeling pains?" She asked, trying to get this human talk right.
  32.
  33. >"No. Go away." She was very upset sounding. This made the caco-demon not happy at all.
  34.
  35. >"What wrongness is happening?" She pressed. "Weee are not in ne...er, donut have to be fear now."
  36.
  37. >"I'm not -scared-." The imp said, enunciating hard. "This place just feels [infernal curse] wrong. It's too [curse] cold and it's too [curse] -quiet.-"
  38.
  39. >The Caco frowned. Maybe sometimes different wasn't always comfortable. Maybe she could help! She wanted everyone to have a chance to be as happy as she felt. It only felt right.
  40.
  41. >"Mayyybe you can locate more of warm kinds of human cch...chloths. And... and there is new noisy humans have! It is called moo..moooo..."
  42.
  43. >"What."
  44.
  45. >"MUSIC!" She said, more loudly than was probably appropriate. Most of the line of demons turned to look at her, and she bashfully floated downward a bit to look smaller. "Oops. But, yes! Musics! It is a human noise that is very good!"
  46.
  47. >The imp just looked at her incredulously. "Music?"
  48.
  49. >"Yes and yes! Like. Like we hear in the video, remembering?"
  50.
  51. >"That was just a bunch of soft beeps and stuff." The imp said, falling for the trap of engaging the caco in discussion. "I want loud. I -need- something loud."
  52.
  53. >"Than I can hellp you find musics that do loud! And warm chloths also!"
  54.
  55. >The imp squinted at her. "Whhhy are you so insistent on helping me?"
  56.
  57. >The caco smiled wide. "Because it is different here! We CAN be help of eachother! We SHOULD be help! We do not have to afraid or fight or alone! And I wantings to live the HERE life, not the bad old life! We canning be friends here!"
  58.
  59. >The imp sat back, still looking at her like she was stupid, but with less suspicion. "Friends huh?"
  60.
  61. >She nodded. "Yeahs! I help you finding chlothes and musics that loud, so you can be happy here and we canning be friend!"
  62.
  63. >"You really genuinely want to 'friend' with me?" The imp said, disbelieving. But she paused and chuckled to herself. "Fuck it. I'm already at rock-bottom, can't do much worse making a 'friend.'"
  64.
  65. >The caco twirled in happiness. "Yes! That is the good think to think! We go and be friends and live in a human castle together and eat dirt food!"
  66.
  67. >"...what the?... [curse] it, fine. But it better be loud as [extremely sweary curse]."
  68.
  69. >The caco nodded. "Loudest! So what is the title of you, new friend?"
  70.
  71. >The imp rolled her eyes. "My name translates into human as 'Sadistically tears the screaming flesh' but I get the feeling that's not gonna go over great here. So just call me... Sadie for short."
  72.
  73. >The caco smiled and extended her hand stiffly for shaking. That was what the video said was a polite human custom.
  74.
  75. >"I yam Dox'yanna of the Churning Plains! But a short name is sound fun! Call me Doxy!"
  76.
  77. >The imp looked at the proffered hand and quirked an eyebrow, but shook it, with minimal finger contact.
  78.
  79. >But the caco took the initiative to transition it to a full body hug, embracing her new friend with her warm soft body. "Happy meetings friend Sadie! This beginnings a very pretty friend ship!"
