[15:11] <@Kilarra> ~~~Chapter 3: The Armageddon Echo~~~
[15:11] <@Kilarra> -Session 47-
[15:12] <@Kilarra> After a harrowing confrontation with a grotesque flesh golem, the party has breached the entrance hall of the Academy of Arts.
[15:13] * Kilarra is invisible thanks to Tognik. She looks to him, "How long does this last? I could check the next room real quick after I fix this shiner."
[15:18] <@Kilarra> Kjell glances at the Golem corpse. "Disgusting." He then looks to the bows, checking for magic.
[15:18] <@Kilarra> Both Bows are magic
[15:19] <@Kilarra> Kjell looks up as he ceases the spell. "ALuthyra, those bows are both magical, if you were interested."
[15:20] <Aluthyra> Tognik nods. "About eight minutes, from the start."
[15:21] * Aluthyra examines the bows. "If they are not composite, they would not be as good as my own..."
[15:22] * Kilarra nods and begins touching herself up with her wand
[15:22] * Aluthyra smiles. "Well, composite, yes." She raises an eyebrow at Kjell. "How powerful is the magic?"
[15:23] <@Kilarra> Kjell notes, "It's just a rudimentary enchanment, but even if they aren't to your liking, you should probably hang onto them anyways. I'm sure someone could use them or buy them from us."
[15:24] * Aluthyra nods, picking up both bows and placing them into her efficient quiver.
[15:24] <@Kilarra> Kjell chuckles, "Extradimensional space always amuses me."
[15:25] * Kilarra uses the wand thrice before she's satisfied, then steps over to the next door, nudging it open slightly and peeking in...
[15:27] <@Kilarra> A tiled mosaic in the center of the floor of this chamber is obscured by a pool of fresh blood, with a gory trail heading off toward the east. This heavy scent of copper hangs in the air.
[15:27] * Kilarra frowns, stepping back. "Lots of blood in the next room. Not sure who it belongs to."
[15:31] * Kilarra looks to Aluthyra, even if she can't be seen. "Three doors, one to the north, east, and west. Kaerishiel's group would have been coming in from the west, and SHalelu's from the north."
[15:31] <@Kilarra> Kjell looks ponderous, "Perhaps we should see if they need aid. Considering what we encountered..."
[15:33] * Kilarra steps closer to Aluthyra and checks her over, while still invisible, for her injuries."
[15:33] * Aluthyra nods. "Let's assist Kaerishiel's party, considering he had the more difficult of the two."
[15:33] * Kilarra is distracted by the chance to cop an invisible feel.
[15:34] * Aluthyra asks, "Kilarra? Wherever you are? Can you assist me with my wounds?" She looks down to the two arrows stuck in her.
[15:35] * Kilarra giggles a bit as her little cop went unnoticed, then pulls out her wand to be safe. "Yank those out if you can so these'll heal without scarring."
[15:40] * Aluthyra grimaces, pulling the arrows. She grits her teeth, then smiles in slight relief as she's healed.
[15:40] * Kilarra smiles, "You good?"
[15:46] * Aluthyra nods. "Yes. Thank you." She sighs. "Hopefully that was the worst of what we will encounter..."
[15:46] * Aluthyra looks to her companions. "Shall we?"
[15:48] <Aluthyra> Tognik nods. "Y'know, I can cast a sphere of invisibility on myself, and we can all move within it. It might be the best option."
[15:49] * Kilarra nods invisibly, "So, to the west then?" She looks at Tognik, "Does it work like that?"
[15:49] <Aluthyra> Tognik nods. "Yep."
[15:51] <@Kilarra> Kjell smiles, "That's the ticket. How close do we have to get to fit in?"
[15:52] <Aluthyra> Tognik adds, "It's a 10 ft radius. As long as we're in that, we're good."
[15:54] * Kilarra nods, "Alright then." She slips in closer to Tognik so as to be affected by this new spell, but not too close. She wasn't -that- fond of him.
[15:54] <@Kilarra> Kjell steps in front of Tognik, about five feet ahead. "I'll lead then, just in case."
[15:55] * Aluthyra slips in close to Kilarra.
[15:56] * Kilarra smirks and gives Aluthyra's rear a quick prod with her tail before addressing Tognik. "Looks like we're in position."
[15:57] * Aluthyra blushes. Thankfully, she's invisible.
[16:00] <Aluthyra> Tognik nods, walking forward. "Let's move. To the grumpy one."
[16:00] <@Kilarra> Kjell glances back, "Just stick close to me little friend. I can see you just fine so long as I glance back over my shoulder."
[16:01] <@Kilarra> Kjell leads the group to the western chamber off the short middle hallway...
[16:01] <@Kilarra> Kjell makes sure to go slow enough for them to stay together.
[16:04] <@Kilarra> Several elven corpses are strung up along the walls of this chamber, pools of blood congealing beneath their feet. It appears that their throats have been cut. Along the north wall, an ancient elven statue stands, but its skin has been painted black and its face carved into a cruel scowl.
[16:07] * Kilarra scowls invisibly.
[16:07] * Aluthyra scowls, shaking her head. She looks around the chamber, checking if any drow were still about it.
[16:08] * Kilarra casts a spell, focusing on the elven corpses...
[16:12] <@Kilarra> The Elven corpses are animated, but have not yet noticed the party
[16:12] * Kilarra frowns, then whispers: "Knew it. They're zombies, probably waiting for anything unfamiliar to attack."
[16:15] <Aluthyra> Tognik whispers back. "I can take care of this with the fireball wand, but then no more invisibility sphere."
[16:16] <@Kilarra> The zombies turn their heads towards the whispering, and begin sliding their blood slick arms from the shackles.
[16:16] * Kilarra frowns, "Go for it tiny, they're heard us anyways."
[16:17] <Aluthyra> Tognik nods, pointing the wand towards the mass of zombies.
[16:17] <Aluthyra> Tognik aims it at the back of the room so that none of his companions will be singed.
[16:19] <@Kilarra> The back of the room erupts with flame and the zombies are reduced to charred hunks of meat.
[16:22] <Aluthyra> Tognik sighs as his invisibility ends. From a distance, because of the gore, he looks for any valuables...
[16:23] <@Kilarra> the zombies have nothing on them and the shackles are crude.
[16:24] <Aluthyra> Tognik frowns. "Alright... we should continue. Hopefully the other elves are faring well."
[16:26] <@Kilarra> Kjell nods, then takes point at the door to the next room. "Guess no one ever figured they'd need to lock the doors on an academy such as this, eh?" The doors have all thus far been made of stone and without locking mechanisms.
[16:28] <@Kilarra> The door to the westernmost chamber is at the end of a short hallway on the far side of the room. It was there that Kaerishiel's group would have entered.
[16:29] * Aluthyra approaches the entrance, looking for any tracks left by the elves.
[16:30] <Aluthyra> Tognik also looks for tracks.
[16:30] <@Kilarra> Kjell opens the door...
[16:32] <@Kilarra> This long chamber has raised seating on opposite sides of a long pool of water. The pool has a brightly colored rim, and the water within ripples and splashes as waves travel from one end to the other in an endless current. The seats on either side are populated by dozens of decaying, dripping elven corpses, most of which seem to have been crushed and twisted by some great force.
[16:32] <@Kilarra> A flight of stairs ascends to the remnants of what may have been a wooden balcony that overlooked the room, but now all that remains of this long-crumbled upper floor are a few stone supports.
[16:36] * Aluthyra frowns, approaching cautiously. She looks to the pool for any source of the crushed elves, then to the elves from a distance-- trying to discern if they are Kaerishiel's men.
[16:39] * Kilarra still has Tognik's invisibility going for her and slips over to the elves unnoticed to check their corpses.
[16:41] <@Kilarra> The corpses have been dead longer than the dozen or so minutes since the attack began.
[16:41] <@Kilarra> They seem to have been crushed by a lrage degree of water pressure.
[16:42] * Kilarra calls out, "Keep clear of the water!"
[16:47] <@Kilarra> Kjell takes a step back, "Why, what's in it?"
[16:49] * Kilarra calls back, "Something. Water killed these elves, probably some sport of the drow. Just not quite sure how."
[16:50] <Aluthyra> Tognik frowns. "Think it's some sort of spell? Maybe a creature?"
[16:51] * Kilarra smirks, "I know one wat to find out. Kjell, you got that lightning bolt of yours?"
[16:51] <@Kilarra> Kjell smirks, "I do. And naturally, since water conducts lightning, whatever is within the pool will either be killed, or forced to emerge."
[16:53] * Aluthyra keeps her bow ready and aimed at the pool.
[16:53] <Aluthyra> Tognik nods, aiming his wand. "Ready when you are, then."
[16:55] <@Kilarra> Kjell raises his spell arm and aims it at the pool, unleashing the streak of lightning at it.
[17:00] <@Kilarra> Rather than something emerging from the pool, the water itself surges forth in an attempt to avoid the lightning. The aqueous creature closest to Kjell takes the full brunt of the lightning blast, while the one behind it had more time to avoid the bolt.
[17:00] <@Kilarra> Kjell blinks in surprise, "Water Elementals."
[17:03] <@Kilarra> The water rises up above the surface of the pool, shifting and roiling with forms such as faces and fins occasionally poking out.
[17:20] <@Kilarra> One of the elementals sloshes along the edge of the pool, attempting to snatch the smallest presented target and drag it into the pool.
[17:24] <@Kilarra> Tognik is swamped quite literally under the bulk of the water creature.
[17:25] <@Kilarra> The other Elemental attempts to lash out at Kjell, not happy with being zapped
[17:29] <@Kilarra> Kjell is glad to be grounded as the wave crashes against him to relatively minor effect. He gags a bit at the rush of water though.
[17:32] * Aluthyra frowns, and seeing Tognik grappled, she tries to save him, firing five arrows into the elemental.
[17:53] <@Kilarra> Aluthyra's magic arrows strike the elemental, although with no blood or wounds to show for it, its difficult to tell how badly hurt they are. It does seem to have sprung a leak though.
[17:55] <@Kilarra> Kjell raises his sword, charging it with a shocking grasp spell and swinging it at the ELemental that had struck him first
[17:57] <@Kilarra> The Elemental is slashed and zapped.
[17:58] <@Kilarra> Kjell recharges his shocking spell, pleased at its effectiveness
[17:58] <@Kilarra> Tognik is unable to escape the grasp of the water elemental
[18:00] * Kilarra isn't sure her conventional harm infliction will work on elementals, so instead she raises a hand and gestures to the creature pinning Tognik, a blast of searing light erupting from her hand
[18:01] <@Kilarra> The searing blast of light boils the water elemental, the bulk of which collapses back into the pool
[18:02] * Kilarra smirks, "Good enough for me."
[18:02] <@Kilarra> Tognik is released, but soaked
[18:03] <@Kilarra> The second elemental surges forth at Kjell again, this time bringing the extra water released fomr the pool with it.
[18:04] <@Kilarra> Kjell is smacked around quite hard, but is not quite bloodied yet
[18:05] * Aluthyra turns, firing a barrage of five arrows towards the second elemental.
[18:07] <@Kilarra> All of ALuthyra's arrows puncture the membrance of the water elemental, causing it to burst, and spill back into the pool.
[18:10] * Aluthyra sighs, looking to Tognik. "You are unharmed?"
[18:10] <@Kilarra> Kjell shakes some water off himself, then uses Prestidigitation to dry himself off quickly. "It seems that each entrance was guarded by something more than we suspected. Sadly, considering these creatures persisted, I wager Kaerishiel's group did not manage to get inside. At least not freely."
[18:11] <Aluthyra> Tognik nods, using Prestidigitation to dry himself off as well.
[18:11] * Aluthyra nods, moving to the elf corpses. She looks to see if one happened to be Kaerishiel
[18:12] * Aluthyra adds, "If we do not find Kaerishiel soon, then we should see if the other group fared well."
[18:12] * Kjell is finally no longer invisible. "He's not any of these, they've been dead too long. Probably drowned by the drow for their amusement."
[18:13] * Kjell notes, "He wasn't in with the zombies either, so I would assume they've been dead longer as well. That was probably his streak of blood along the floor of the central room."
[18:14] * Aluthyra frowns. "Then let's follow the streak."
[18:15] <@Kilarra> Kjell nods, "After we check for miss Shalelu. If we find her in the room of her own penetration attempt, we can assume she succeeded. If not, then she likely met the same fate. We'd best be prepared for what might still be in that room, given the nature of the creature defenses we've encountered left behind thus far."
[18:15] <@Kilarra> Kjell qualfs a potion quickly to ease his wounds
[18:16] <@Kilarra> Kjell takes another light potion just to be safe
[18:17] * Kilarra nods, "Let's go then. That female elf was one of the ones I actually liked."
[18:18] <Aluthyra> Tognik readies his fireball wand once again before following Kjell.
[18:18] <Aluthyra> Tognik adds, "I can still cast another invisibility sphere."
[18:19] <@Kilarra> Kjell sticks close to Tognik, "Alright are you? Those things pack a whallop."
[18:19] * Kilarra shakes her head, "Let's not waste any more time. We seem to have a bad habit of fighting anything we come across anyways."
[18:21] <Aluthyra> Tognik nods, following after Kjell as he starts to move. "Let's go then."
[18:21] * Aluthyra nocks an arrow, moving forward.
