"Young man!"

Sora turned as he heard Macy's voice. "Yeah? What's up?"

"You are not leaving that young lady to fly across the world alone! I've already spoken to Cody. You two are going with her!"

"What?! But what about the village?!"

"Verfal can take care of the village. You two are going to help that nice girl."

"But you guys --"

"-- can take care of ourselves. She, on the other hand, is a defenseless young girl."

Sora turned away. That's when he saw Cody approaching at a light jog, a pack slung over his shoulder. "Hey, I'm ready to go. Me stuff's all packed."

"But the village..."

"You're coming too, right, Sora? Think of it as one of your games."

Sora sighed and threw his hands up into the air. "Fine. Fine!" This was so un-fabulous. "We'll go help Dani. But if you guys get into any trouble, I'm gonna feel like complete shit!"

"Excretement! You'll feel like excretement."

"Sorry, Macy."


Cody peeked into the tent. "'Ey, Dani."

"Hey!" Dani perked up, smiling. "How's it going, Cody?"

"Pretty good. Sora's just getting packed now, we'll be ready to leave soon. You know how to paddle a canoe, right?"

Dani giggled. "Don't worry! We won't need one!"


Sora rolled up his hand-made (and quite glorious) clothes, tucking them carefully into a pack. Preserved food went in there, too, along with fishing reel and hooks. He was packing for a long journey, even though he didn't want to leave the village.

But... he did want to help Dani.

He shouldered his pack and walked outside. The entire village was out there - including Macy, Verfal and Belona - circled around the huge, six-legged dog which Dani called Krypto. Cody and Dani were already in his saddle.

"C'mon, Sora!" Dani called out. "Up you get!"

"I sure hope your dog can swim," Sora grumbled as he clambered up Krypto's flank.

"Sky dog! He's a sky dog! And he doesn't swim - he flies!"

"He... flies." Sora blinked as he got settled into the saddle. It was more like a basket, honestly. "He's a cool dog and all, but..."

"Hey, Sora, we may as well wait and see how it goes," Cody shrugged. "It'd make a great piece if he really could fly."

"I thought you only drew landscapes?"

"I've been thinking of branching out."

"I bet he'd love it if you painted him! C'mon, Krypto! Mush!" Dani leaned over to pet Krypto's neck, and the dog leapt into the air.

They climbed in altitude, and both Sora and Cody were shocked.

"Whoa now -"

"- he's really flying!"

"Told ya!" Dani chirped, and grinned. "Just lean back and enjoy the flight!"
