  1. WULPURGISNACHT LAFAYETTE
  2. Age: 78
  3. Height: 7'1
  4. Weight: 350 lbs
  5. Story Role: The one you must defeat to stand a chance
  6. Fighting Style: Mastered Magic Martial Arts
  7. Gameplay Inspirations: Akuma/Oni (Street Fighter), Sheng Long (Electronic Gaming Monthly), Ganondorf (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate) Oume and Otane Goketsuji (Power Instinct), Ranno (Rivals of Aether), Enkidu (UNiB)
  8. Gameplay Style: High pressure offense, close-range footsies
  9.
  10. Paleta's most feared and infamous magic user, Wulpurgisnacht has spent her long life perfecting her craft in solitude from most of humanity, and tries to stay out of the affairs of those who would hunt her down.Acting as the mentor to both Janine and Ragako, her untapped power still exceeds that of any possible successor even in her advanced age. Having laid the foundations for modern witchcraft as we know it, she hails from a family of more classically ordained magic users, but was exiled from her respective schools for repeat offenses into forbidden forms of dark arts and dealings with unholy beings.
  11. She utilizes an ancient tome called the Canipa Galaxia, a sentient book that she wrote herself during her many journies into the Antechambers of Madness, As such, she's one of the few characters to have some form of direct contact with Iapetus' interplanar entities and divine beings, but according to her they're none too interesting.
  12. Otherwise, not much is known exactly about Wulpurgisnacht aside from the fact that unholy phenomena tends to follow her around, whenever she's around anyway.
  13.
  14. Appearance: Wulpurgisnacht is a pale-skinned old lady with strikingly vicious facial features consisting of a long hooked nose, empty pupils, and razor-sharp teeth. Her scarred body is absolutely ripped and pulsating with dark magic. Her clothing could at one point be read as refined magic-users regalia, but they;ve long since deteriorated into tattered rags that that exist to accentuate her muscles. She wears a witches hat tied to her back, but is rarely seen putting it on.
  15.
  16. Gameplay: Being I CAST FIST incarnate, Wulpurgisnacht is a heavyweight fighter most effective at close range. Her Power attacks possess unrivaled amounts of quick, health-melting power, and various stationary "projectiles" attached to her Feature moves can easily set up high-pressure situations and control space while remaining surprisingly mobile. Unfortunately, below-average health and short range on her most potent attacks means she relies on using her options to close in on the opponent with little room for error.
  17.
  18.
  19. RAGAKO HOLYFIELD
  20. Age: 50-something
  21. Height: 6"4'
  22. Weight: Secret
  23. Story Role: Eventual main antagonist, probably.
  24. Fighting Style: The meanest art student you've ever met
  25. Gameplay Inspirations: Peacock (Skullgirls), Eliza (Skullgirls), Fillia (Skullgirls), Double (Skullgirls), Squigly (Skullgirls) Fuck It The Entire Cast (Skullgirls), Hilda (UNIB)
  26. Gameplay Style: Long range madness
  27.
  28. Ragako is a popular cartoonist, model, and entertainer hailing from New Easton in Vespusia. Her works are well known around the world, and has inspired entire media empires based on her array of characters. Underneath her life of lavishness, she holds a dark secret- She's actually a witch who embedded herself with Brand of Lucifos, a sort of metaphysical parasite that grants her obscene power in exchange for regular culling of human souls.
  29. One of the apprentices of the legendary archwitch Wulpurgisnacht Lafayette, their relationship goes back 40 years ago, where a young Ragako sought the help of a witch after her parents, Tenryu immigrants to Vespusia, had been killed by corrupt Vespusian soldiers as part of political tensions at the time. As per Wulpurgisnacht's request, she had made a journey into the Antechambers of Madness to prove her mettle, but the raw hatred that overcame her there frightened off even the most potent horrors the chambers had to offer, which certainly intrigued the archwitch to some effect.
  30. Soon Ragako had become like a daughter to Wulpurgisnacht, but over the years, the archwitch couldn't help but point out that Ragako continued to pursue witchcraft for entirely selfish reasons- and while there was nothing wrong with that per se, withcraft without empathy could easily be turned into just another corrupt magic school if left unchecked. Ragako seemingly took this lesson to heart, and upon parting ways with Wulpurgisnacht, she dedicated herself afterwards to helping people in various ways. What she eventually settled on though was focusing on her artistic endeavors, leading to the creation of her first and most famous mascot: Joobay the Cat.
  31. Joobay was a "living cartoon" of sorts, an independent creature that lived in a pocket dimension by which countless forms of media could be pulled from. Joobay had become an overnight sensation, and had made Ragako a small fortune in royalties.
  32. Joobay was of course eventually overshadowed by future Ragako-toons such as Lumpy Lumberjack, Capt. Bonedaddy, and of course Bruno Bunny, the latter of which had blown up to international levels, leaving the cat dusty and forgotten by history.
  33. The method by which these "toon people" were created is due to what we now know as the "Brand of Lucifos", a cursed parasite that Ragako utilizes in order to reincarnate the unloved and psychologically tortured victims of Vespusian capitalism into eternally carefree cartoon-people hybrids, These cartoons have a quite infectious quality to them, amplifying the moods of those who watch their antics even if it seems kinda unfunny and at times morbid in practice. Indeed, one could say the power of Lucifos used in this way could end in her taking over the world if this carries on.
  34. As Ragako's empire grew, the forgotten Joobay had carved his own path, as he had grown bitter and resentful of humanity once again as he did in his previous life. With no more glitz and glamour to be had, he had realized that the Vespusians who were rendered helpless from being held in place by a soon-to-be-collapsed economic system were willingly flinging themselves into Ragako's empire for a fleeting few moments of escapism, and devoted what remained of his cruel existence to stopping Ragako, whether it meant gaining diplomatic power or doing things the dirty way.
  35.
  36. Gameplay: On the surface, Ragako is as pure of zoner as it gets. She possesses long range disjointed normals that can skewer or restrain her opponents from afar, as you'd expect. However, she has more than enough tools to act as a very scary mid-range player and rushdown character when given enough pressure and setup.
  37. She attacks primarily with her Inkstained Garment- A special dress loaded with Ragako's specialty ink that can form her Lucifos cartoons into physical form in the blink of an eye. Of course, there's a limited amount of ink in this dress, so Ragako's gameplan mainly consists of investing her ink into various long-reaching gimmicks that can alter her playstyle in many different ways. Some moves simply poke at the foes from afar while others can summon entire entities on the screen like the rampaging Lumpy Lumberjack and Pizza Beartraps

  40. [REDACTED] aka Evil Friday Incident
  41. Age: ???
  42. Height: Tall-ish
  43. Weight: ???
  44. Story Role: Enigma
  45. Gameplay Inspirations: Q (Street Fighter), Duck Hunt (Smash Bros.), Sleep Deprivation (Real Life)
  46. Fighting Style: Confusion, loathing, defensive
  47.
  48. When [REDACTED] is chosen from the select screen, the entire framing device of the game changes once the battle kicks in. In place of an intro, two investigators working for a secret government sector, named Dr. A. Goodman and Tuesday walk into a private investigations room- Goodman is a constantly tired P.I.-looking man with a coffee addiction and noticeable 5 o clock shadow, while Tuesday is a curious young lady with an impressive flat top cap. Goodman pops in a VHS tape into a desk-mounted monitor, and speaks as if preparing for another busy day.
  49. "Another day into this investigation, and we have another recorded case of an EFI to dig into. And let me tell you, this one's pretty messy." Goodman grumbles.
  50. "Oh? And what happened this time?" replies Tuesday.
  51. "Well, see, it starts out like this..."
  52. The camera focuses in on the screen, and soon regular gameplay starts. The [REDACTED] character itself is represented as a messy blur of pixels and static, as the entity is incapable of being captured by cameras. Its designated intros usually involve bystanders running away from it in a panic, and any opposing player tends to refer to it with immediate shock and disgust.
  53. As the entity is only represented by what can be made out of its pixelated and static-overlaid form, one can only make assumptions of it from context clues, such as some other fighters pointing out that it smells like gasoline and it possesses more than a few misshapen facial features and extra limbs.
  54. Instead of voice lines, most of [REDACTED]'s speech is replaced by observations by Goodman and Tuesday, who commentate on the footage, as the "battle" that plays out is just a recording that happened in the past. For certain critical attacks, having it connect will just result in Goodman fast-forwarding the footage "in the name of good taste", Goodman will occasionally slow down the footage frame-by-frame to point things out, which serves to give the player controlling [REDACTED] some extra execution relay, and certain attacks are conveyed by Goodman slapping his hand across the screen to emphasize things, among many others. No matter how the "footage" ends, the two investigators remain hard pressed to draw any conclusions from the events that transpire before them.
  55.
  56. Gameplay: [REDACTED] is a pretty defensive brute-force brawler with good power, range, and many useful normals, but is also fairly slow and easy to hit. Potentially it has the highest possible stamina due to certain features increasing its defense options.
  57. As [REDACTED] is represented in-game through a pixelated, staticy blob, it can be hard to make out what exactly it's doing at any given moment, but with enough time its tells and animations are fairly obvious and consistent once given enough study.
