Character biography:

Alexander was born into a rural village in the southern region of Norway, near Oslo. His father worked hard at his job in a butchers, often coming home smelling of blood. His mother stayed home with the young Alex, watching and taking care of him.

At the age of 9 the portal storms struck the Earth, his parents watched in horror over television, One of the near rural towns similar to their own was almost completely destroyed, with no survivors. Though his parents began sheltering Alex, keeping him from hearing of these horrid events, refusing to let him watch the news or read the daily paper. During the following year, his parents panicked, they started stockpiling food, and his father quit his job to stay home and protect the family and help take care of Alex. Of course, he still never knew what was happening, only that something was wrong, and he didn't make much effort to try and learn. He waited at home and watched cartoons on the television, while his parents did busy work around the house.

At age 12 he and his family were moved to the nearest city of Oslo by the Norwegian government due to the current dangers of living at their previous village. It was then put under lockdown, military guarding the entire city. At his current age, and the new city they moved to, his parents could no longer shelter him any longer from the current happenings, and gave in to his constant questionings of the recent history. At this point he had begun to realize the burden on his parents, and did his best to pull his weight, working around the house and whenever he could.

It was at age 15 that the 7 hour war shook the Earth, and 15 year old Alex watched humanity snap. He had watched the Combine invade the Earth over television, and watched in fear, fear that all of humanity was about to die, or be turned into slaves for some advanced alien species. He and his parents huddled around the television often, until there was no more broadcasts, no more advertising, nothing to watch. Soon though, he was pulled into a graduate program, with many other young adults like himself. He became a model student, out of fear of repercussion, though no teen in school can truly repress the urge to form friendships and commit minor jokes and wrongdoings, he was no different.

He came out of the program with a gentle love for the new Union. Before this new Union, the Earth was almost constantly at war with itself, never ending death and destruction for sake of power or wealth. Not just this, but there were no more portal storms, no more large scale terrorist attacks, all due to the Union. He saw it as a new opportunity, one that could bring solemn good or evil to the world, Earth had never had such long periods of peace, all due to the Union.

3. Civil Protection is a position that brings with it both advantages and disadvantages, and they are typically not well received by the citizens they oversee. What motivated or motivates your character to enlist? What experiences have led to this decision?

Alexander was heavily influenced by the Graduate program, it brought a different shade of light to the Union for him, one that shone on peace and calm for the Earth, something that hadn't happened for many years. As a recent appearance from the program, he believes that by joining the Union as a CCA Unit, he can bring better to the world, if only a little.
