Slappy- Waterlogged

He crept over to Bryce. He raised both hands behind Bryce’s back.
And then Slappy shoved hard.
And just as he did, the boat hit a strong current—and it bounced up over the water.
Slappy uttered a silent scream as he lurched off the deck—and sailed headfirst into the bay.
“Help! Oh noooo!! Slappy fell overboard!” Bryce shouted. “Help!”
Thrashing and kicking in the bouncing water, Slappy felt panic sweep over him. I can’t swim! I can’t swim!
He sank beneath the surface, then bobbed up again. The strong current was carrying him away from the boat.
I’m too brilliant to drown! Isn’t anyone going to rescue me?
He heard a splash. And then the sounds of someone swimming toward him, taking long strokes, kicking furiously.
Bryce!
Swimming hard, Bryce wrapped his arm under one of Slappy’s and swam back to the boat with him.
Mr. Carlton helped Bryce and the dummy back into the boat. “He’s soaked through and through,” he told Bryce. He shook his head. “Totally waterlogged. I’m not sure if he’ll ever be the same.”
