  3. >Those girls.
  4. >First they threw you to the curb for a new piece of dick.
  5. >Now they had the ovaries to pull this fucking stunt, just when you started putting all that mess behind you.
  6. >And that piece of dick that started all this bullshit?
  7. >Flash Sentry.
  8. >You would have been pissed at the guy, well you were at first, but after thinking things over a bit, you realized you weren’t.
  9. >The guy was trying to look out for his own well being.
  10. >That and it was Twilight that approached him about it, at least that’s what you read in the papers.
  11. >Yet it was the icing on the cake when he dropped them like rotten fish when he got approached about being a concubine for the Saddle Arabian queen.
  12. >Good on him, and a big fuck you to your old herd.
  13. >But it was these set of events that brought your old herd here, using some old law to try to get you back after finding out the dick wasn’t greener on the other side.
  14. >You were happy now with Celestia and Luna.
  15. >There had to be a way to fuck them over and not ruin the relationship you had just begun to build.
  16. “Well I’m not going.”
  17. >”Anonymous this isn’t something you can just say no to, this law which you must forgive me I should have abolished ages ago, is ironclad.”
  18. “So what would happen if I said no?”
  19. >”I’m sorry to say it would be a fate most stallions would dread, two weeks in the dungeon, the few that tried barely lasted a day.”
  20. >Dungeons or dealing with those girls. Decisions, decisions.
  21. “Can I get a cell with a window at least?”
  22. >That’s right Sparkle, fuck your law, I’d rather be in jail than even deal with you.
  23. >Besides how bad could two weeks possibly be?
  24.
  25. >No, no, no, no, NO!
  26. >It wasn’t supposed to go like this.
  27. >You had pored of every book you could possibly get your hooves on. Even so far as going to the Canterlot library in the middle of the night.
  28. >Tome after tome, scroll after scroll, you searched.
  29. >It was only by sheer luck that you ran across that one old law and it was still valid.
  30. ”Royal Edict XXXIV: Stallions herd-status must be observed as null only if the said stallion does not meet the requirements presented in section VIII: Status subsection F.”
  31. >”Sugarcube you know I love you like a sister, but please.”
  32. >Sometimes you forget just how much Applejack hated your ramblings. Keep it simple, some ponies aren’t big about that knowledge.
  33. “Girls it means since we’re still in a transition period where our new stallion didn’t work out, we can get Anon back.”
  34. >”I don’t know Twilight, he didn’t look too happy when we told him to go find a new herd.”
  35. >As much as you wanted to smack you’re her sister, she did have a point.
  36. >”You think he’ll just come back like that?” Rainbow was nervously rubbing the back of her head while floating a few feet of the ground.
  37. >He had, he just had to!
  38. >You all bucked up. Bucked up bad.
  39. >Flash was great at first, he did all the stuff Anon did, cuddle, cook, and clean.
  40. >But just like his namesake, he was gone.
  41. >The three of you were ready to turn Equastria upside down in search of your stallion when you learned what happened.
  42. >That bucker went off to mess with some sand… okay Twilight no reason to be racist about it.
  43. >He was gone, and it showed you all just how much you all took your human for granted.
  44. >Now you needed to get Anon back, and spend the rest of your lives making it up to him.
  45. >The plan was set, go to Canterlot and get your stallion back.
  46. >But the plan backfired.
  47. “What do you mean he’s in the dungeon?!?!?”
  48. >”Anonymous declined the precept of the law you presented.”
  49. “But he can’t do that!”
  50. >Your mentors normally kind visage lessened, her gaze gaining an almost angry look.
  51. >”I believe I know a bit more about that law and its interpretation since I helped write it, my faithful student.”
  52. >No! This isn’t happening! Breathe Twilight, in and out, in and out.
  53. >”There is a provision for stallions that do not wish to return to their former herds. He has chosen to spend time in the dungeon. In two weeks time he will be free to choose his own destiny.”
  54. >You felt like you were a little filly again, everything you knew was useless here.
  55. >How could everything go so wrong?
  56. >You had to fix this.
  57. >No! You would fix this!
  58.
  59. “Can I get the waffles with strawberry syrup?”
  60. >”Inmates don’t get a choice, only maple syrup will be provided.”
  61. >Fucking dungeon life. The fact that you knew all the guards here made it slightly bearable.
  62. >Okay so that’s a lie, dungeon life was pretty good.
  63. >Sure you weren’t allowed any visitors, but you’d get over it.
  64. >Besides you had a pretty good idea of just who the visitors would be.
  65. >While seeing Celestia and Luna would be a plus, the negative would involve the three ponies who were on your shit list.
  66. >”Psst Anon.”
  67. >The guard who was taking your order motioned for you to come closer.
  68. >”Sometimes I get clumsy and mix up the syrups, so wouldn’t it be awful if you got strawberry syrup instead of maple? “
  69. >This horse here man, she was one of the good ones.
  70. “Just terrible.”
  71. >Reaching through the bars you gave the guard a quick scratch behind her ear.
  72. >She was a good one, when this whole thing was over you’d try to do something nice for her.
  73. >Ponies went crazy for the peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies you made, a tray of those would be a great gift and thank you.
  74. >But that gesture would have to wait, a two week to be exact.
  75. >Two weeks of dungeon time and that dumb law that Twilight dug up would be void and useless.
  76. >As a precaution however you asked Celestia and Luna to make sure there weren’t any more fucked up laws that Twilight could dig up and use.
  77. >It was the last request you made to them before being escorted downstairs, to the lowest level of the castle where the dungeon was located.
  78. >With a nuzzle from them both they promised that when the two weeks were up they would have no claim to you.
  79. >Now you were here, this was the price of freedom.
  80. >And as far as you were concerned, Twilight severely underestimated just how much a human values their freedom.
  81.
  82. “See, it’s right there!”
  83. >”I don’t see it, if you’re trying to cheat I’ll boop you good Anon.”The guard mares eyes scanned the upright board.
  84. “It’s RIGHT there!!!”
  85. >Playing connect four with one of the early shift guards was how you spent your morning.
  86. >The dungeon didn’t have any popular games, they didn’t even have checkers. So you settled for the older pony version of connect four, or whatever they called it here.
  87. >”Pffft whatever you say, you should get ready for your yard time anyway.”
  88. “Tired of getting beat eh? Can’t blame you, I’ve been kicking your tail for the past three games”
  89. >”Whatever you say colt, now, get a move on. It’s my hide if you’re late.”
  90. >Putting away the game back inside it’s box, you quickly changed into some shorts and shirt.
  91. >From you could see that it was another beautiful day outside, no doubt Celestia’s doing.
  92. >”Anonymous.”
  93. >Luna’s voice gave you a scare, nearly jumping in surprise.
  94. >Turning your head you looked past the bars of your cell, where the midnight blue pony stood.
  95. “Luna? What the hell are you doing here?”
  96. >It’s only been a couple days since your sentence began, and the no visitors rule was still in effect.
  97. >If she got seen, it could mean some trouble for her.
  98. >”Something’s come up, grab your things and come with me.”
  99. >This wasn’t good, judging by the look on Luna’s face it was definitely going to be bad.
  100. >And that meant it involved your old herd.
  101.
  102. >Your faithful student Twilight stood there, face not showing any sign of emotion.
  103. “You’re withdrawing your request?” Her newest statement puzzled you.
  104. >A few days ago she was more than willing to try anything to get Anon back.
  105. >”Yes, were not going to pursue our previous course of action.”
  106. >Twilight might have made some dumb choices, but she wasn’t stupid.
  107. >What was her game? You spent almost every waking moment looking through every old law book and scroll to ensure there weren’t going to be any more surprises.
  108. “You do realize that you will no longer be able to lay any claim to Anonymous after this.”
  109. >”Yes Princess, I’m aware of the ramifications of this decision.”
  110. >Twilight wasn’t a pony to just give up so easily, if at all.
  111. “Is there a reason for this sudden change of heart Twilight?”
  112. >”After some discussion with the others, we didn’t want Anon to have to spend any more time in the dungeon because of the law.”
  113. >Her face still remained impassive, betraying no emotion whatsoever.
  114. >A part of you wanted to laugh with glee at this latest development, but the more logical side screamed that this girl was up to something.
  115. >And whatever it was would not bode well for you, your sister, and most importantly Anonymous.
  116. “Very well, I’m relieved to see you’ve finally come to your senses.”
  117. >You know she hasn’t, nut for now you’d have to see what happened.
  118.
  119. >Flying as fast as you could towards Griffonstone, you remembered the instructions Twilight gave you.
  120. >If her plan worked, Anon would be back where he belonged and everything would go back to the way it was before.
  121. >The three of you would be back together, and this whole mess would be behind you.
  122. >But the plan rested on help from an old friend.
  123. >”Come on Rainbow, you need to go faster!”
  124. >A pep-talk forced you to flap your wings faster, you needed to get there as fast as possible.
  125. >This whole thing was riding on you getting there and getting help from Gilda.
  126.
  127. >You and Gilda have been through a lot together, your friendship tested and made stronger with every step.
  128. >First your time together at flight camp, then the whole Pinkie situation.
  129. >But now you needed her help more than ever.
  130. >Yet despite her initial hesitation, you somehow managed to convince her to help you and your herd with getting Anon back.
  131. >”You’re an idiot, you know that right?”
  132. >Sighing you gave your friend a defeated look, hopefully it would show her that you already knew that.
  133. “We bucked up, I know. But we’re trying to fix it, and we can’t do it without you.”
  134. >”Yeah, yeah, I’ll do it, but I don’t know how long I’ll be able to buy you.”
  135. “Whatever time you can give us will be more than we have right now.”
  136. >You needed time, time to get everything straight, time to fix what was broken.
  137. “Just do your thing Gilda, I know you can pull this off.”
  138. >”Of course I can, who do you think you’re talking to?”
  139. >All Gilda had to do was go to Canterlot, be a diplomat for a couple of days while you showed her around.
  140. >It was the perfect opportunity to get you, Twilight into the castle.
  141. >Applejack would have to sit this one out though. You being Gilda’s best friend was a good enough excuse to stay at the castle.
  142. >Twilight was a princess, so the diplomatic stuff was a no brainer reason for her being there.
  143. >But Applejack… she’d stick out like a sore hoof, and then the Princesses would figure out what you were doing.
  144. >”DASH!!”
  145. >”What? Huh?”
  146. >”I’ve been trying to tell you we should start our descent, were almost there.”
  147. >Right. Phase one is a go.
  148. >Feeling the wind passing through your feathers you began your descent, Gilda just of your right, in perfect formation.
  149. >Buck both your forms were on point. No question about it.
  150. >”Where are we landing?”
  151. >Scanning the now growing larger castle you looked for a good spot.
  152. >The courtyard looked clear and so did the area just beyond the gate.
  153. “Courtyard, you’re a diplomat for the Gryphons, that’ll probably be the best spot.”
  154. >With a nod you both continued the descent, soon enough you saw several figures start entering the courtyard.
  155. >The welcoming committee is here.
  156. >Wait is that?
  157. >Oh buck me! That’s the Princesses and Anon.
  158.
  159. >Those three were planning something, and judging by what little information you had, you had a good idea on what it was.
  160. >Luna filled you in on what happened while you were on your little “vacation” as you liked to call it.
  161. >Twilight withdrew her request and you were set free.
  162. >Engulfing both Celestia and Luna in a big and long hug the first moment you could.
  163. >But now.
  164. >Now there was a certain diplomat arriving, one who would be escorted around by both Rainbow Dash and Twilight for the duration of their stay at the castle.
  165. >Yeah you could say that you had a good idea on what they were scheming.
  166. >Those devious little horses were trying to pull some hair-brained scheme.
  167. “Hey Luna, do me a favor and tell the cooks I’ll be cooking my own meals and eating in our room for the foreseeable future.”
  168. >Luna though puzzled by your statement nodded.
  169. >You wouldn’t put it past those two to try something really fucked up at this point.
  170. >Like putting something in your food, probably not though, but better safe than sorry.
  171. >Watching what were just to tiny spots in the sky grow larger, before finally revealing the forms of Rainbow Dash and what was a gryphon.
  172. >After circling the courtyard once they both landed, neither making a sound.
  173. >”Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, my name is Gilda, diplomat of the Gryphon empire.”
  174. >”It’s a pleasure, please come this way.”
  175. >Celestia turned and began making her way back inside.
  176. >All business that one, especially when it came to this royal stuff.
  177. >”A.. Anon?”
  178. “Fuck of Dash.”
  179. >Smooth.
  180. >Their plan was well thought out, you’d give them that.
  181. >They made one mistake though, that mistake being that you would want to be around them.
  182. >Even if you had to hole yourself up in your room for however long they were here, you weren’t even going to give them the time of day.
  183.
  184. >This was the life, let me tell you.
  185. >”More please.”
  186. >Lifting a spoonful of delicious chocolate pudding from the bowl settled in your other hand you brought it to Celestia’s lips.
  187. “Say ahhhh.”
  188. >Opening her mouth she greedily engulfed the entire spoonful and hmm’d in delight.
  189. >”Ithss sho good.”
  190. “Don’t talk with your mouth full, I thought princess were taught etiquette.”
  191. >Celestia’s response was to stick her now pudding covered tongue at you.
  192. >Settled comfortably on the overly sized bed you were content stuffing yourself and Celestia full of the delicious treat.
  193. >The occasional teasing going on between spoonfuls of the sugary delight.
  194. >After making the decision earlier to eat in your room and away from the guests Celestia decided that you shouldn’t be alone either.
  195. >This resulted in the very fluffy pony princess laying across your lap, sharing a dessert.
  196. ”Do you think Luna will be alright by herself?”
  197. >No matter how nice it was to spend time with Celestia again, you were worried about the other member of your relationship.
  198. >”I think so, she’s not as naïve as ponies believe her to be.”
  199. “Not exactly what I meant, I was more worried about the visitors she’s probably dealing with at the moment.”
  200. >While you weren’t concerned about her being overpowered or something like that, but you were still worried about what those girls could do.
  201. >If they couldn’t get to you, they would try the next best thing.
  202. >”I know what you meant Anon, but trust my sister, she can take care of herself.”
  203. >Setting the bowl and spoon on the tray table just off to side, you pulled the big snuggly pony into a big hug before settling down on the bed.
  204. “I trust her and you, but that doesn’t mean I’m just going to pretend that everything is all honkey dorey.”
  205. >Feeling Celestia nuzzle the side of your face you relaxed.
  206. >”Let’s get some rest, no more bad thoughts today.”
  207.
  208. >Luna’s hard gaze lingered on both you and Gilda.
  209. >”So despite the current trade agreements you want to request more guards to accompany the shipments?”
  210. >Gilda, despite what you heard of her brash attitude was definitely acting like a diplomat.
  211. >”Yes, while we only sometimes see raiders attack caravans, the possibility still exists.”
  212. >Where was Anon?
  213. >From the moment you arrived he was nowhere to be found, you asked the guards and maids, but none had seen the human.
  214. >Surely he was still at the castle, right?
  215. >You should have already been able to at least gotten one opportunity to speak with him.
  216. >”And will the Gryphon empire provide the guards for when the shipments reach the border?”
  217. >You were behind schedule, by now you should have been on step two, fixing the rift you all caused.
  218. >At this rate you would need at least another day, no two, definitely two days.
  219. >”Princess Twilight.”
  220. >What if you didn’t see him tomorrow, the whole plan would start coming undone, you need to make a plan b.
  221. >”Princess Twilight!”
  222. >Snapping from your inner thoughts you looked up to see both Princess Luna and Gilda looking at you intently.
  223. “Sorry, got lost in thought. What were we talking about again?”
  224. >Luna didn’t looked amused and Gilda only rubbed her temples with her claws.
  225. >”The guard allocation, we were discussing the guard allocations for transport security.”
  226. “Oh, right.”
  227. >Buck, you weren’t paying attention in the slightest.
  228. “I believe that the current numbers could stand to be increased.”
  229. >Saved it!
  230. >”Very well, we will have the scribes create the documentation tomorrow. Judging by how late it is you both should get some rest, we’ll continue tomorrow.”
  231. >With a bow Gilda turned and began her trip to her room.
  232. >You however.
  233. >”Was there something else Princess Twilight?”
  234. >Okay Twilight play it cool, time to put your big mare socks on.
  235. “I was wondering about Anon, I haven’t seen him all day. I would settle my nerves to see if he’s doing okay.”
  236. >No sooner did the words leave your mouth, did Luna’s eyes narrow.
  237. >”He is well and resting in our room. May I remind you, your presence here is to facilitate the diplomats visit, not worry about him. Unless your visit had an ulterior motive?”
  238. >Buck.
  239. “Of course, I was merely wondering. Have a good evening Princess, I’m going to get some rest.”
  240. >So you wouldn’t get anything out of Luna, but Anon was here, that much was certain.
  241. >You have to see him tomorrow, no matter what.
  242.
  243. >You woke up with a slightly different pony in your arms than you went to sleep with.
  244. >While Celestia smelled of lilacs and a habit of trying to smother you with her chest tuft, Luna’s scent was more sweet, like cherries and rose blossoms.
  245. >That and she loved just snuggling up to you.
  246. >Finally willing your eyes to open you cast your gaze down, to where a certain mare lay atop you. Her head resting on your chest she occasionally let out a faint snore.
  247. >She must have switched spots with Celestia after her shift was over.
  248. >Reaching up you ran your hand through her silken mane, without whatever magic coursing through it looked just like any other mares.
  249. >But the stars within it still gleamed brightly, twinkling occasionally whenever she made the slightest movement.
  250. >The sight made your heartbeat just a tad faster.
  251. >Now came the biggest problem, you had to use the bathroom. Bad.
  252. >And doing so without waking the obviously tuckered out mare was going prove to be a real challenge.
  253. >Ever so slowly you dragged a pillow to your side and slowly nudged her onto it.
  254. >Luna instinctively wrapped her hooves around it letting out a tiny whine, visibly upset by the lack of whatever it was she was snuggling.
  255. >As carefully and silently as your clumsy gait would allow you moved to the bathroom to take care of your morning needs.
  256. >No matter how much you wanted to stay in bed with her and cuddle, you did want to get a bite to eat and stretch your legs.
  257. >With asking the chefs to work something up for you out of the equation, the task came down to you.
  258. >It was still early, you noticed as you made your way to the kitchens.
  259. >The guards on duty looked just about as tired as you felt, and the maids were busy sprucing everything up.
  260. >But besides them, the castle was deserted.
  261. >All the better for you, as far as you were concerned.
  262. >The moment you got to the kitchen you began making your breakfast, fetching the various ingredients from the fridge and cupboard.
  263. >You weren’t making anything fancy, some scrambled eggs and hash-browns with some fresh squeezes orange juice.
  264. >Throwing everything on the skillet you began squeezing the oranges.
  265. >Your thoughts wondered onto what you would pre-occupy yourself with today.
  266. >Maybe you should drop by the library and pick up a book or two, it couldn’t hurt.
  267. >But there was a chance you would run into a certain book obsessed pony.
  268. >Flipping the eggs and hash, you continued with your musings.
  269. >She was the main reason for yourself imposed isolation, but that didn’t mean you would just stop functioning completely.
  270. >Depositing the contents of the skillet to a clean plate you picked it up along with your glass of juice.
  271. >Oh crap.
  272. >Standing there with a plate full of food and juice, you just realized a somewhat interesting conundrum.
  273. >You couldn’t go back to your room since Luna was still sleeping and you couldn’t chance going to the dining room in case the troublemakers were there.
  274. >Crap.
  275. >You could always eat outside, in one of the secluded areas in the garden.
  276. >With a plan now in mind, you set off outside with your meal in hand.
  277. >Making a mental note to return to clean up after yourself later.
  278.
  279. >Horseapples.
  280. >Twasn’t fair, Rainbow and Twilight were off trying to get back Anon and here you were twirlin yer hooves.
  281. >”I’m off to school sis!”
  282. “You take care now Applebloom.”
  283. >”Kay.” With that your little sister was off. No doubt she would cause some mischief on the way there that you’d have to take care of later.
  284. >This is what yer days went by like. Take care of a few things on the farm, make sure the trees looked good for the next harvest.
  285. >That’s about it.
  286. >You should be there tryin ta get your stallion back with em, not sitting around.
  287. >That’s right, you were a mares mare, you weren’t about to just sit on your plot and do nothing.
  288. >If there was any self-respect left in ya, you should get on the next train to Canterlot and help them in their plan.
  289. “Granny I’m heading out for a bit.”
  290. >”Whas that now?”
  291. “I’m headin ta Canterlot, I’ll be back soon.”
  292. >Slidding your saddle bags on you were out the door in seconds.
  293. >It was time to do your part and get your stallion back.
  294.
  295. >Looking at the fiction shelf, you scoured the titles packed tightly together.
  296. “The Colt from Beyond, How I met your Father, Close Encounters of the Sexy Kind?”
  297. >Okay, despite titles showing that every writer was very sexually repressed, nothing really stood out to you.
  298. >It’s a damn library for god’s sake, there had to be a book here worth reading.
  299. >Moving to the next aisle you continued to peruse mountainous shelves of books.
  300. >Without even looking at the title this time, you grabbed a random book and began flipping through the pages.
  301. >Hoof drawn representation of various plants with their descriptions littered the pages.
  302. >“I never took you for liking horticulture Anon.”
  303. >Your whole body tensed when the soft voice reached your ears.
  304. >There wasn’t a reason to look, you knew exactly who the voice belonged to.
  305. >Don’t turn around Anon, just ignore her and don’t acknowledge her presence. Maybe if you were lucky she’d just go away on her own.
  306. >”Anon?”
  307. >Nope not happening Twilight. Go do your horse things elsewhere.
  308. >”I was really hoping to run into you today you know.”
  309. >The feeling is far from mutual Sparkle, hmm that’s an interesting plant, maybe Celestia could add a few to the garden.
  310. >You always did have a green thumb back home, maybe you could start a little garden of your own.
  311. >”You’re not going to talk to me are you?”
  312. >Bingo. It only took you one minute to figure out, I’m so proud.
  313. >Closing the book and placing it under your arm you turned and walked right past the purple princess, not even sparing her a glance.
  314. >Soft hooffalls echoed behind you as you made your way out of the library.
  315. >”There’s so much I want to say and I know you don’t want to hear any of it, but could you at least let me apologize?”
  316. >Remaining silent you continued towards your room, with any luck you’d be able to settle back in bed without waking Luna.
  317. >”I’m sorry, we’re sorry, we messed up and hurt you.”
  318. >That’s nice, a little too late though.
  319. >Maybe you should go and tell Flash, I’m sure he’d love to hear all about it.
  320. >So maybe that was a low blow, even for you.
  321. >The various guards eyed you both as you passed through the halls, Twilight trying to talk to you, failing, and trying again.
  322. >”I know you herding with the princesses was to get back at us for what we did, but”
  323. >Pure unbridled rage filled you up when she said that, stopping you dead in your tracks.
  324. >A fact that went unnoticed as Twilight walked right into the back of your legs.
  325. “Of all the most self-centered, idiotic, and outright insulting things that you’ve ever said Twilight, that one takes the cake.”
  326. >Turning on your heel you faced the visibly taken aback pony.
  327. “Celestia and Luna were there for me when you all got tired of me.”
  328. >Clenching your fists tightly you felt angrier than you ever remember being in a long time.
  329. “They showed me that not all the ponies were selfish, entitled, and ignorant of others. So don’t think for one second that me being with those that really love me is a way to get back at you.”
  330. >Reel it back Anon, you’re letting her get under your skin.
  331. >Fucking hell! This pony just got you mad though. Resuming your trek back to your room you wanted nothing more than to forget your encounter.
  332.
  333. >Tired and sleep deprived you made yer way to the castle.
  334. >The train ride was only supposed to take a couple of hours, but as luck would have it, it broke down about an hour into the trip.
  335. >Stranding you in the middle of nowhere.
  336. >You were sweaty and tired, and wanting nothing more than to take a dip in a nice cool pond.
  337. >But you made it, and if what Twilight told you a few days ago was true you’d be arriving just on time to take Anon back.
  338. >”Halt, state your business.”
  339. >The two guards by the gate crossed their spears as you approached.
  340. “The name’s Applejack, I’m here to see Princess Twilight Sparkle, my herdmate.”
  341. >Both guards regarded your haggard form before casting confused glances at each other.
  342. >Shoot fellas you’re acting like you’ve never seen me here before.
  343. >I’ a dang element of harmony for tarnations sake, saved the place a couple times too.
  344. >”Go on through ma’am.”
  345. >Lifting their spears the two guards finally allowed you entry.
  346. >Walking past the guards you made your way into the castle proper, ready to do whatever you could to help.
  347. >Now all you had to do was track down Twilight or Rainbow.
  348. >With a renewed vigor you trotted into the castle. Your instincts told you that Twilight would probably be around the library.
  349. >As for Rainbow, that mare was just too unpredictable.
  350. >” So don’t think for one second that me being with those that really love me is a way to get back at you.”
  351. >Oh boy that sounded a lot like Anon, and he didn’t seem too happy at all.
  352. >You managed to only see his retreating form as he walked away from Twilight.
  353. >Looks like this was going to be a lot harder than Twilight made it out to be earlier.
  354. >Might as well find out just how bad the situation was.
  355. >Walking to Twilight you noticed several things all at once.
  356. >Her wings were drooping to the ground and she was hunched over, not to mention she was shaking.
  357. >Stepping in front of your herdsister you lifted her downturned face upward with your hoof.
  358. >Tears were freely flowing from her eyes and she looked… broken.
  359. >Bringing her into a hug was when the damn broke and she let out the most heartwrenching sobs.
  360. “There, there, it will be okay.”
  361. >Deep down you were beginning to doubt those words.
  362.
  363. ”I believe we’ve covered everything on the list of issues you’ve presented.”
  364. >Despite the long morning full of back to back talks, you and Gilda worked your way through the entirety of the items that she was here for.
  365. >Rainbow Dash looked like she would fall asleep at any moment, her head bobbing every few seconds.
  366. >”It appears so, thank you for your patience Princess.”
  367. “Not at all, the relations between our races are extremely important for our mutual growth.”
  368. >That and the sooner you finished the sooner your entourage would be departing, making for some quality for time for you and Anon.
  369. >”Your highness? Would it be alright for Gilda to remain here a bit longer? She’s been so busy she hasn’t even gotten a chance to see the city.”
  370. >Buck.
  371. >Looks like Rainbow was awake enough.
  372. >You couldn’t say no. It wouldn’t look good to just kick out a diplomat the moment business was taken care of.
  373. “Of course, please enjoy yourselves.”
  374. >With a bow the two left you in the vast throne room.
  375. >Looking at your sun you decided it was time for some lunch.
  376. >And maybe you could sneak away for a minute to go see Anon while at it.
  377.
  378. >Bucking Applejack, why did she have to come now? If she screwed up the plan you wouldn’t let her live it down.
  379. >But your anger would have to wait, there were bigger issues at hoof.
  380. >Right now you had a visibly distraught Twilight on your hooves.
  381. “So what happened?”
  382. >You and Gilda were getting ready to go fly around Canterlot and stretch your wings a bit when the farm pony came into your room with Twilight strung across her back.
  383. >”Not entirely sure Rainbow, I heard Anon say something about not being with the Princesses as a way to get back at ‘er and then this.” She motioned to the silent Twilight.
  384. >Oh jeez, Twilight probably said something that blew up in her face big time.
  385. >Twilight lay motionless on your bed, the only indication that she was still alive was her slow rise and fall of her chest.
  386. >Her eyes had this far away look, like your pops used to say “Lights are on but nopony’s home”.
  387. >So much for your little day of flying around.
  388. >”Is she going to be okay?”
  389. >Gilda despite her normal aloof demeanor did look concerned about Twilights well-being.
  390. >”I hope so, but until she snaps out of it we won’t know for sure.”
  391. >It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
  392. >You were supposed to apologize and make up with Anon.
  393. >Things were supposed to get better, not worse.
  394.
  395. >Something was terribly wrong.
  396. >When you went to go see Anon you found him in the recliner in your room.
  397. >And by you, did he look mad.
  398. “Anonymous is everything alright?”
  399. >Despite what was definitely anger, you could tell it wasn’t directed at you.
  400. >”I’m not sure. I ran into Twilight this morning.”
  401. >That would explain the anger part. Your student had that affect on some.
  402. “I’m going to take a guess and say it didn’t go well.”
  403. >”You could say that again. I’m not going to repeat what she said, but I think the best course of action to end this, isn’t going to have a happy ending for everyone.”
  404. >Fear gripped your heart, the way he said that made you fear the worst.
  405. >Was he going to leave you?
  406. >No! He wouldn’t, he loved you and your sister. You wanted to scream for him to not leave you.
  407. >He wouldn’t.
  408. >Almost as if sensing your inner turmoil Anon rose from his chair and crossed the distance between you both in an instant.
  409. >His hands engulfed you into a hug which you eagerly returned.
  410. >Moving your head into the crook of his neck you tried to contain your emotions.
  411. “Please don’t leave us.”
  412. >You don’t know how long the hug lasted but you didn’t let go, you couldn’t.
  413. >The fear that it would be the last was just too great.
  414. >”Whoever said that I was leaving, you silly pony?”
  415. >Feeling his lips gently press against your own you relaxed.
  416. >That simple kiss eased some of the fear in your heart.
  417. “I was scared, I thought you”
  418. >”Like it or not you’re stuck with me.”
  419. >The perfect moment between the two of you was broken by a particularly loud snore from a still sleeping Luna.
  420. >Giggling you hugged Anon just a bit harder.
  421. “So what do we do now?”
  422. >”I’m going to put an end to this tonight. Would you mind letting Twilight and Rainbow know to meet me in the garden tonight?”
  423. >Nodding you finally let your human go.
  424. >”It would mean a lot to me if you and Luna could be there as well.”
  425. “Of course.”
  426.
  427. >These silly ponies were going to drive you to molt early.
  428. >Seriously you thought that Rainbow was joking when she initially came to you for help in getting her mate back.
  429. >But now you knew lot more than what she divulged. They went and drove their mate away, and for what?
  430. >Another male who was as flighty as a chicken and didn’t even stick around either.
  431. >Despite feeling the need to smack her upside her head, she was still your friend, and you helped your friends.
  432. >No matter how scatterbrained they were when it come to important decisions.
  433. >Doing what they had done in the gryphon culture would be unheard of.
  434. >Mating was for life, these ponies didn’t know how good they had it.
  435. >And the human was a perfect mate from everything you’ve heard.
  436. >Strong, intelligent, and family oriented, the kind of mate you could bring home to mom.
  437. >Any gryphoness would start a war if so much as another even looked at him in a way that displeased.
  438. >Ponies eesh.
  439. >A sudden knocking on the door got your attention, it caught everyone’s attention.
  440. >A magic glow encased the door handle and slowly the door opened to reveal…
  441. “Your highness?”
  442. >”Good Afternoon Gilda, I’m sorry to interrupt but there is something urgent I need to pass on to.. hello Applejack, I wasn’t aware that you were here as well.”
  443. >”Good Afternoon Princess, I just got here earlier.”
  444. >”Then you should hear this as well.”
  445. >Looks like this wasn’t a social call.
  446. >”Anonymous would like to see all of you tonight in the garden. He will meet you there just after the moon is raised.”
  447. >With that the Princess left.
  448. >Never again would you let your friends drag you into their emotional drama.
  449. >Two of the three mares shared a look, while Princess Twilight remained just as motionless as before.
  450.
  451. >To think a year ago, you were in a happy relationship with three mares who you thought truly loved you.
  452. >You were happy, you thought they were happy.
  453. >But that illusion was shattered.
  454. >Moving on was hard, but you did. But them coming back into to your life was threatening to ruin what little happiness you had left.
  455. >And now you had to do the right thing and nip the problem in the bud. Once and for all.
  456. >A look towards the horizon showed the last few rays of the sun and the rising moon.
  457. >Not much longer now.
  458. >Sitting down in the grass you relaxed before the inevitable confrontation.
  459. >The soft night breeze swept past you, rustling the blades of grass around you.
  460. >The rich smell of the various flowers of the garden permeated your senses, almost calming you.
  461. >The noise of approaching ponies caught your attention and brought you back to reality.
  462. >From where you sat you clearly saw all of them approaching.
  463. >Luna and Celestia on one side, Twilight, Rainbow, and Applejack?
  464. >When did she get here?
  465. >Shaking your head you focused on what you were about to do.
  466. >Soon all them stood before you, well it was time to do this.
  467. >Standing up you regarded all of them.
  468. “Girls, we need to settle things here, once and for all.”
  469. >”Anon before you begin can I say something?”
  470. >Twilight looked pretty rough, but pleading look on her face was enough to let her have her say.
  471. “Yeah, go ahead.”
  472. >”I’m sorry for what I said earlier, it was way out of line.”
  473. “I can respect that Twilight.”
  474. “ There are things that I need to say, and all I ask is that you listen and let me say my peace.”
  475. >All the ponies nodded in unison.
  476. “You three did something bad, I understand that this world is different, the customs here are different. But I never expected that I would be just cast away.”
  477. >Each member of your old herd cast their gaze down. Your words hit them hard.
  478. “That hurt, and now you three come back and want things to go back to the way things were before.”
  479. “I’m sorry, but there’s no going back. I’m happy here now. I believe you all are really sorry for what happened, but the trust we shared is gone.”
  480. >Taking a moment you organized your thoughts.
  481. “Celestia and Luna have shown me that they love me for me, and the only thing I can ask is that you respect that decision.”
  482. >There it is, you said it all.
  483. >The two alicorns moved and engulfed you with their wings in a big hug.
  484. >”We are sorry Anon, and there’s no part of me that wouldn’t go back and change what we did. But I’m an honest mare, if this is what you want I can respect that.”
  485. >Good old Applejack. She always was the more levelheaded one.
  486. >Yet the tears at the edges of her eyes betrayed her words.
  487. >Rainbow however didn’t look at all happy, her eyes showed anger and hurt.
  488. >”Buck you Anon!” She screamed before taking off, a rainbow trailing behind her through the sky.
  489. >Turning to Twilight, you waited for her response to this.
  490. >”So I guess this is goodbye then.” ::Sniffle:: “I can’t blame you, we’ve been horrible.”
  491. “Twilight, Applejack come here.”
  492. >With a knowing glance to both your marefriends you left their embrace and stepped towards the young alicorn and farmpony.
  493. >Without hesitation you engulfed both in a hug.
  494. “Just because we’re not together anymore doesn’t mean we can’t rebuild some of the bonds we shared.”
  495. “It’s not going to be easy and it won’t happen overnight, but if you both and maybe even Rainbow are willing to try, we can.”
  496.
  497. >”Sometimes I wonder just how many of my little ponies are affected by you simply being here.”
  498. >Lifting the comforter you raised an eyebrow at Celestia’s statement.
  499. >”My sister is right, ever since you arrived we simply gravitate towards you.”
  500. “Must be my winning personality.”
  501. >The sisters let out a cheerful laugh at that.
  502. >”Oh I’m sure it’s exactly that.”
  503. “So my handsome looks then?”
  504. >”You’re cute, but not that cute.”
  505. >Settling into bed you were joined on either side by two warm bodies.
  506. >Pressing themselves against you, you felt their soft fur against your bare skin.
  507. >”I truly hope that things do get better for Twilight and her herd. They truly looked repentant for their actions.”
  508. >Twilight and Applejack, you could repair some of the bridges that were burned. Rainbow however was the wildcard.
  509. >She always had a personality that was prone to acting first and dealing with ramifications later.
  510. >But you would give her a chance if she wanted it.
  511. >As the lights in your room dimmed you wrapped your arms around the two princesses.
  512. “Goodnight girls.”
  513. >”Goodnight Anonymous.” They both responded in unison.
