  1. Ser Gerris Goldtooth is a middle aged Riverlander hedge knight. Born of the smallfolk, he sought out adventure when he was young and convinced a traveling hedge knight to take him on as a squire. He scoured mail, polished weapons, and fought in small skirmishes until the Defiance of Duskendale, when House Darklyn had kidnapped King Aerys II Targaryen. Knowing that he would die, the knight Gerris was squired to ordered him to take a knee.
  2.
  3. "In the name of the Father... I charge you to be just!" The final day of the Siege of the Dun Fort... Gerris was no longer a common squire, but a knight! Unfortunately, he took a blow to the head, causing him to lose his front tooth.
  4.
  5. From then on... as a hedge knight himself, he found various tourneys to participate in, trying to show off his skills with an axe to would be lords. Hunting bandits down in woods. The first gold dragon he made, presented to him at a tourney, he found a maester to fashion a tooth for him.
  6.
  7. And finally, riding with the Jon Arryn's army when he called his banners during Robert's' Rebellion. He was there, at the battle of the trident, and one of his most prized possessions was one of the rubies that Robert Baratheon smashed off of Rheagar Targaryen's chest piece.
  8.
  9. With that said and done, the man took to the hedges once more. Finding respite with small lords. Fighting off bandits from nameless hamlets. Until the Ironborn rebelled against the rule of the King. The Hedge Knight was at Lannisport when this happened, and proceded to give an iron born bastard the greatest gift he could.
  10.
  11. "They follow some heathen Drowned God, so I obliged the big fucker and kicked him in the knee and pushed him off the dock." For his gallantry in the defense of Lannisport, the Lannisters of Lannisport gifted him a battle axe, made of castle forged steel, that Ser Gerris Goldtooth dubbed Bone Hewer.
  12.
  13. And so he traveled, hither and yon, back and forth, until one day he came across a vale lady, beset by bandits. Always looking for an opportunity, Ser Gerris Goldtooth, leapt into the fray and saved the lady's life.
  14.
  15. That is how Ser Gerris Goldtooth, a mere hedge knight, became a sworn sword for House Beake.
