  2. DarkRedemption - Today at 10:51 AM
  3. I regret to inform you that the Co-Founders do not feel that you are an appropriate fit for Paranoia. As such, you have been dismissed.
  4.
  5. Ferox - Today at 12:54 PM
  6. May I request the reasons for dismissal?
  7. also requesting I still have permission to access the mapping channel
  8.
  9. DarkRedemption - Today at 12:55 PM
  10. You should still have access to the mapping channel, I thought
  11. Hang on
  12.
  13. Ferox - Today at 12:56 PM
  14. okay ty I see it now
  15.
  16. DarkRedemption - Today at 12:59 PM
  17. This will take a while to type.

  20. If it's in regard to my comments on mod activity, that got blown way out of proportion before I could properly explain. Here was the statement one mod requested from me:
  21.
  22. When I owned servers, we had people who would get mod and then only enforce gag/mute and nothing else. They said it was too hard for them to enforce anything else. We removed them because they wouldn't do their job. I do personally believe that if you have moderator rank, you have a responsibility to play on the server that you have said rank on when it is active before any other server. Especially when no mods are online.
  23. I'm not blaming anyone personally
  24. since many mods are inactive for freaky nature accidents
  25. e.g., lightning blowing up their pc
  26. I'm saying that the staff who can play but are specifically avoiding playing should play and we should focus on recruiting more moderators.
  27. my rule of thumb is that you're at a good # of active staff is your server rank stays flat when 1-2 mods go inactive
  28. I don't care as much about server popularity, I just don't like getting shit tons of callmod requests and being personally requested to mod (when I mod as much as 8 hours a day while active) when other mods are totally able to do their job
  29. the comment about my hours correlating to gametracker rank was half sarcastic
  30. the half not being sarcastic is that the curves do actually line up perfectly lmao
  31.
  32. Ferox - Today at 1:06 PM
  33. No worries
  34.
  35. DarkRedemption - Today at 1:11 PM
  36. Firstly, the Trump profile was already considered sketchy at first, but the constant pushing of Trump memes, saying the alt-right Deus Vult meme whenever you banned someone (which looked unprofession in itself), and other actions unsettled much of the staff and the co-founders. Whether or not it was satire or a joke, it wasn't found funny and the worry was that we would be associated with the alt-right. We did not want this image at all when we are a server designed to be inclusive, and made mods directly affected by the movement extremely uncomfortable.
  37.
  38. Secondly, the way you wanted to push how to do things came off way too strongly and seemed like a power grab, but also didn't respect our managerial style at all. We believe, given a completely volunteer staff team, that if people need to take time off because life happens, and this seemed incompatible with your view; it had to be done this way instead, where we shouldn't have these inactive mods--something we did not agree with.
  39.
  40. Thirdly, the statement that we need more mods or the server rank would go down. This indicated a disconnect on two fronts. One, we don't care about server rank--we care about the community. Server rank is just gravy. But I thought when you made that statement, it was just another round of satire. Then you pushed it more in staff chat, making me think you were completely serious. This represented arrogance at worst and superficial analysis at best, given that I knew JX had Spring Break in that time period, and likely a lot of other players did as well. But at that moment, I realized I did not have the ability to determine what of yours was satire and what wasn't, throwing everything into question, for me, everything about your character--and making it so that your satirical and serious statements are just lumped together in one big ball and I cannot differentiate between the two anymore. I and the other staff can't work with someone whose statements I have to continually decode or pick apart to find meaning which may or may not exist in it.
  41. As such, the co-founders have decided to dismiss you. We do not believe you are the right fit for the staff at this time. I hope you understand the reasoning.
  42.
  43. Ferox - Today at 1:43 PM
  44. Not that I'm arguing for my moderatorship back, as the first reason would have been enough for me to resign.
  45.
  46. So in the interests of inclusivity, you would rather exclude people whose political beliefs do not align with yours. These aren't extremist beliefs as implied in your statement. They are beliefs that repesent a major portion of the country. Cognitive dissonance to promote 'inclusivity' through exclusivity. It's silly to allow anti-Trump memes in a meme channel while Trump memes are prohibited as these things are a two way street. You also have to look at these things by flipping the demographic. Would you have refused people who posted pro-Hillary memes or pro-Bernie memes had they been elected for the same reasoning - that some staff would feel directly affected and possibly uncomfortable? Why not just go ahead and prohibit ALL politics on the server, instead of the ones you disagree with? I'd argue that using social pressure in such a way is more unprofessional and one of the reasons why Trump voters voted for him.
  47.
  48. I did show you my Crusade related ban reasons and you said they were funny. Why would you call them funny when you actually found them unprofessional? I used them in the sense that I was driving out sinners when banning people. That's literally what Deus Vult refers to. I hold zero allegiance to the alt-right. Deus Vult just happened to be the most common one because it was the easiest to type. It would have been very useful to be personally addressed on this matter instead of being told "lol love the Latin."
  49.
  50. Regarding how I communicate with what I believe are more advantageous ways to run things - it's because I do care about making the server as best as possible. But in regard to staff, I was trying to make the point that moderators do have a responsibility to play on the server when it is active instead of other servers. I was further trying to point out that we need to be more active in recruiting new moderators. The server rank, as I said numerous times in staff_bs_chat and exlained above, is not important. What is important is that the rule of thumb that you are at a proper number of active staff if server rank stays flat. I tried to explain that but was drowned out, which is why Crash personally asked me to explain my views, as pasted above.
  51.
  52. I do personally believe I had a significant impact on the server rank. I was actively adding new people on the server and requesting they add it to their favorites and inviting them when the server was starting up. Some of them don't play at all when I'm not on. I was also moderating more than every other staff member combined on the days (verifiable by gametracker) that I was active. We're talking 800 minutes a day here. I disliked how mods were still personally asking me to go on when I wasn't on and we were getting call_modded. That legitimately did annoy me. However, my statement on server rank is that my absence (or the absence of any other mod) should not negatively affect the server's popularity to that degree. Re: my rule of thumb above.
  53. Sure, maybe I am a bit less than humble when it comes to this. I try to do my best and be the best in everything I set my mind on. I take pride when I feel I am excelling. I did get annoyed for reasons above but I did try to make my points clear and was not given proper opportunity to explain. I respect your last two decisions to dismiss me, find your first (with all due respect) utterly ridiculous, and will not request modship again. I believe your dismissal of me is a poor choice for the Paranoia community as a net whole, given what I believe I provide to your server, but a gaming community is best run like a small business and this is your business decision.
  54.
  55. I will say, as my final suggestion, I think it would be proper to personally address trial mods with problems that come up, as not every trial mod is going to immediately understand and conform to the privately held philosophies of the co-owners. Compromises and solutions can be reached, and communication is a necessary facet of running a community.

  58. Obviously that will take me a few to respond deeply, as you deserve
  59.
  60. Ferox - Today at 1:50 PM
  61. Alright - I do need to head out for a bit for lunch so I'll read when I come back.

  64. Ok, sounds good

  67. The support of Trump alone was not the problem. Indeed, we have moderators that support Trump, as well as players, and we take no issue with them. The issue is that the pattern displayed by your very thorough profile that required you to purchase a game and get all of the achievements in to complete, combined with a meme associated with an alt-right and constant memes oft-generated by the alt-right was enough to cause great concern with my staff team that you were among them, regardless of whether or not you owed them any allegience, especially with the constant zeal in which you appeared to espouse your support.
  68.
  69. It is true that the Deus Vult thing, I said was fine and found it amusing. However, one, I did not realize that you would do it in every ban appeal which was damaging our ability to rectify some bans, and two, I had no idea of its origins as a Reddit post on T_D as a meme until it was pointed out to me by two of my staff. So while at first I was okay with it, once informed, it became part of the above pattern which turned it into a major concern.
  70.
  71. Would we have banned based on memes of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders? Firstly, the memes alone, as stated before, were not the problem. It led us to believe you were part of the more ill-meaning alt-right group. If we thought that, what would another person who joined the server for the first time think when they saw you, when that group is known for their racism and xenophobia? Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders do not have a well-known group, if any, that pushes such division, but if there was a pattern that did, we would be against it. If such a thing were known to us, we would look for the same pattern.
  72. The proper number of active staff for server rank is questionable. On what data is that true? Sanerem, for instance, believed it was nothing more than a contrarian attitude looking to change the fundamental nature of our server: that it is a community run by volunteers. This is why we did not push it when they play on other servers, because in they end, they are not paid. You were looking to make it more like a business, stating that it is the best way to run a server as well, but with what data? It felt like you were simply pushing a bias.
  73.
  74. I understand the annoyance with doing 800 minutes and other mods not getting on. That's fine and completely understandable. However, you were not obligated to do all of those. If you had a concern about that, you should have said something in chat saying that you can't do this. I believe I would have pointed out that you had done enough that day.
  75. Regarding the server rank, your absence did not affect it. That was the point I was trying to make before. Spring Break ended around when you left for just about everyone. It lacked enough mental prudence to the point where I could only find it satire, and its continued push surprised me.
  76.
  77. Finally, regarding Trial Mods, we actually do communicate with them as issues come up. You are the first to have most of the same people on board with bringing you into the fold turn against you within an extremely short span of time. By the time I have put everyone on staff on Paranoia, they did not have anyone who was against them. At worst, neutral. You were the exception, and that was an extremely bad sign--one that I do not believe could have been corrected based on your vehement rejection of my first point of your dismissal, as we had already tried to remove that perceived problem with your profile and was thoroughly rejected. That precedent threw any other attempts fix problems into doubt, and your constant "satirical" statements which left me unable to determine your genuity further hampered the ability to iron out anything solid.
  78.
  79. Communication is indeed a necessary component of running a community. But so is image. And if we thought that you might be someone on the alt-right thanks the fervor and constancy you talked about Trump, plastered him on your profile, memed about him and used alt-right-associated memes, other people joining the server could. The alt-right is the group associated with racism, bigotry, and general intolerance in the present day. As a server dedicated to inclusivity, the risk of appearing un-inclusive to a political view is worth the appearance of being inclusive to people who are actively and continually hurt and shamed simply by being who they are in a way they had no control over. But you can control the way you present a political view in a way that would not cause ill-feelings or worry to others.
  80.
  81. But you chose not to.
