Are we about to go to War with Iran?

Iran moved short-range ballistic missiles by boat in waters off its shores, an American official said Tuesday (link). Some are speculating these missiles are being deployed along the shoreline (Strait of Hormuz).

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo makes a surprise trip to Iraq, after abruptly canceling his meeting in Germany with Chancellor Angela Merkel (link).

“Specific and credible” intelligence that suggested Iranian forces and proxies were targeting US forces in Syria, Iraq and at sea, led the Pentagon to recommend a carrier strike group be moved to the region (link) as well as nuclear capable B52 bombers (link).

Iranian proxies:  Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, West Bank, Gaza Strip, Hamas, Hezbollah, possibly others

(From Ruwayshid Air Base in Iraq, Iran could strike any place in Israel with short-range ballistic missiles.  Al-Ismailiah Air Base in eastern Egypt would also serve as an excellent location for firing short-range ballistic missiles into Israel with 'unlimited' targeting capabilities.  West Bank and Gaza Strip do not seem likely places to ship these missiles as Israel is known to aggressively patrol the waters around the Gaza Strip; however, they may serve as unloading points for guns and ammunition, as well as some armored vehicles and troops.  Syria and Lebanon could receive these missiles easily and slip them into Jordan without much trouble from Israel.  Saudi Arabia and Sinai also make excellent launching points.)

The Pentagon currently believes Iran's actions could put US and coalition forces at risk in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar. US military and intelligence officials are monitoring the movement of the Iranian missiles around the clock but have yet to see a pullback.

(Israel is not too far from these places, and the United States does have a military base inside Mashabim Air Base, west of Dimona, and Yerucham, Israel.  A 'strike' there and Israel's inevitable retaliation would make a great excuse for Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen to strike at her. theguardian.com says there is no increased threat to US interests in the Middle East, contradicting Secretary of State Pompeo:

"Maj Gen Christopher Ghika, who is a deputy commander of Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR), the coalition conducting counter-terrorist operations against Isis in Iraq and Syria, was repeatedly questioned by reporters about the threat from Shia militias in Syria and Iraq, cited by US officials over the past week as justification for speeding up the deployment of an aircraft carrier strike group in the Gulf and for sending B-52 Stratofortress bombers and an anti-aircraft battery to the region.

“No – there’s been no increased threat from Iranian-backed forces in Iraq and Syria,” Ghika said in a videolink briefing from Baghdad to the Pentagon. “We’re aware of that presence, clearly. And we monitor them along with a whole range of others because that’s the environment we’re in. We are monitoring the Shia militia groups. I think you’re referring to carefully and if the threat level seems to go up then we’ll raise our force protection measures accordingly.”

(This suggests a very quiet military agreement between the United States and Iran and the increased threat to US forces in the region is just a cover up.  The real target, and the United States of America under President Trump is on board with this, is Israel.)

"The remarkable comments heightened concerns that fabricated or exaggerated intelligence may be being used by administration hawks led by the national security adviser, John Bolton, to further the case for war against Iran, in a manner reminiscent of the buildup to the Iraq invasion."

(Iranian proxy forces, again, are Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Gaza Strip, West Bank, Hamas, Hezbollah, maybe more.)

(The threat of a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran seems to be dubious at best.  Although it would cause considerable trouble on the world economic scene, it seems, rather, that it is posturing on Iran's part, designed to misdirect public attention away from the real goal, an attack on Israel.

(The threat of sleeper cells in the US is real, although I do not believe they will be activated at the time of the attack.  Most likely they will be activated at a later date, if the attack goes awry.)
