Coco stood her ground and deflected Yatsuhashi’s sword with her purse, gritting her teeth as the force of his blow traveled through her arm. If Yatsuhashi was bluffing about being compromised by Jax, he was doing such a good job he was even fooling her.

Coco stepped aside neatly as he brought his sword smashing down on the spot where she’d been standing a moment ago. She swung her purse around and down, slamming into his arms. She held back, just a tiny bit, and somehow that seemed to piss him off.

Yatsuhashi swirled around, his blade scooping sand at her face. No one likes sand in their face, but Coco’s sunglasses protected her from being temporarily blinded. She spat sand out of her mouth and grinned.

“We’re going to have to do more training after this. You’re rusty!” she called.

Her mind wandered for a moment to how Velvet, Sun, and Octavia were handling their mission. Coco didn’t know what Gill was capable of in a fight, but Carmine was a handful all on her own.

Her train of thought was cut off when Yatsuhashi rushed at her. She dashed toward him, dropped to the ground, and slid between his legs. Then she rolled to her feet, turned around, and kicked him in the back. Yatsuhashi went flying into another Crown soldier who was locked in battle with Neptune.

“Hey, I had him!” Neptune whined.

“Sorry!” Coco said. Then she winced as Yatsuhashi knocked Neptune over and faced her again.
