  1. Final Fantasy V
  2.
  3. Platform: Snes / SFC
  4. Released: 06.12.1992
  5.
  6. Based on: NTSC-J-version (SHVC-F5)
  7.
  8.
  9.
  10. - DON'T EVER RUN AWAY FROM BATTLES!
  11.
  12. - You can pause the game during battle. This pauses the play time counter
  13. as well.
  14. - Base stats:
  15. Lv | Level
  16. Chikara | Strength (Str)
  17. Subayasa | Speed/Agility (Spd)
  18. Tairyoku | Vitality (Tai)
  19. Maryoku | Magic Power (Mag)
  20.
  21. - There are only four playable characters, with minimal variation between
  22. their base stats. Only HP and MP increase from leveling up. Damage will
  23. still increase from leveling up, as the level figure itself is used in
  24. the calculation, as seen below.
  25. - The damage calculation still revolves around multipliers and base power
  26. values like in the previous installment, but the end result is fairly
  27. different thanks to the all-or-nothing hit/evade rolls and minimalistic
  28. random variable. Specifically, physical damage is calculated like so:
  29.
  30. ATPm * (Offense - target DFP) * e
  31.
  32. Offense =
  33. a. ATP + 0,(ATP/8) (Swords, katanas, spears + enemies)
  34. b. ATP + 0~3 (Knives, whips, bows)
  35. c. ATP/2 + 0,ATP (Axes/hammers)
  36. d. 2*Lv + 0,(2*Lv/8) + 3 (Unarmed with Kakutou)
  37.
  38. ATPm =
  39. h. Lv*Str/128 + 2 (Swords, katanas, spears, axes/hammers)
  40. i. Lv*Str/128 + {Lv*Spd/128} + 2 (Knives, bows, whips)
  41. j. Lv*Str/256 + 2 (Unarmed with Kakutou)
  42.
  43. e = Elemental variable
  44. W: Weak (2)
  45. R: Resist (0,5)
  46. I: Immune (0)
  47. A: Absorb (-1)
  48.
  49. - Calculation i is identical to h in practice, as the Lv*Spd part does
  50. not function properly, possibly intentionally.
  51. - In calculation c, target DFP is divided by 4.
  52. - Accuracy is not a visible stat anymore and it's defined solely by the
  53. equipped weapon. ATP multiplier and Magic Evade are not visible, either.
  54. - Press left in the camp menu to adjust your formation. You can switch
  55. positions and individually set characters either in the front row or back
  56. row. An enemy is considered in the back row if there's another enemy closer
  57. to your party, and their sprites don't overlap horizontally.
  58. - Press left or right during battle to access the Defend (Bougyo) and row
  59. change commands. Defending halves the ATPm of an incoming attack.
  60. - ATPm is divided by half, possibly twice, if the attacker and/or target
  61. is in the back row, and the attack is not long range in nature.
  62. - Critical hits deal double damage and ignore DFP. Only fists and katanas
  63. can deal critical hits, though (this is apparently intentional). Enemies
  64. don't have a critical hit roll, but rather, a critical hit is treated like
  65. any other attack that the enemy may end up using as a result of their AI
  66. script. Enemy critical hits generally deal 1,5x damage, but they do not
  67. ignore DFP.
  68. - Magical damage equals
  69.
  70. Mag-m * (MagOffense - target MDF) * e
  71.
  72. MagOffense = base + 0,(base/8)
  73. Magic multiplier = Lv*Mag/256 + 4
  74.
  75. - When multi-targeting, MagOffense is divided by 2 unless the spell hits
  76. all targets by default.
  77. - There are eight elements: Fire (F), Ice (I), Thunder (T), Water (W),
  78. Wind (N), Earth (E), Poison (P), and Holy (H).
  79. - Enemies never have regular resistance (0,5x) to any element.
  80. - For more detailed information on damage calculation, check the algorithm
  81. guide on GameFAQs.
  82.
  83. - The ATB system has been reworked and features much better optimized
  84. code. It's now much smoother, faster, and more balanced. This also marks
  85. the first appearance of the iconic ATB gauge.
  86. - ATB charge time = 120 - Speed + Weight/8. The counter aims to decrease
  87. at a rate of 1 per 2 frames, but easily stretches to 3 if there's a lot
  88. going on. Either way, once the counter reaches 0, the subject can act.
  89. - Abilities, including magic, have no charge time, with very few exceptions.
  90. - In the first round, ATB = regular ATB - lowest ATB + 2.
  91. - Armor now have Weight values, and the character's total Weight value
  92. has a very minor impact on ATB. Enemies have no Weight value.
  93. - The ATB gauge is a graphical representation of ATB values from 128 to 0,
  94. not that it can't exceed 128. You can turn off the gauge in the settings,
  95. in which case you'll be able to see both your cHP and mHP during battle
  96. instead of just cHP.
  97. - Adjusting Battle Speed in the settings does *not* alter ATB charging
  98. speed. Instead, it adjusts the length of the ATB pause that occurs when
  99. a character's command menu pops up, like so:
  100.
  101. Pause Message
  102.
  103. 1 | 0f 1 | 32f
  104. 2 | 15f 2 | 64f 60f = 1 second
  105. 3 | 30f 3 | 96f
  106. 4 | 60f 4 | 128f
  107. 5 | 120f 5 | 160f
  108. 6 | 180f 6 | 192f
  109.
  110. - By far, the biggest change from FFIV is the class system. The game
  111. features 22 different classes that you can freely switch between once
  112. obtained. Each class has its own stat modifiers, equipment restrictions,
  113. default Abilities, and can generally learn 3-7 Abilities by gaining AP
  114. from battles. Most classes have one free slot for Abilities you've learned.
  115. You'll have nearly all of the classes obtained before the end of World 1.
  116. - Setting certain abilities in the free slot can have a drastic impact
  117. on the character's Strength or Magic. Eg. the Monk has abysmal Magic by
  118. default (it doesn't really need it), but setting one of the magic schools
  119. (White, Black, Blue, etc.) in the free slot will grant the Monk a decent
  120. Magic stat. Conversely, a mage class can get decent Str by setting one
  121. of the Equip weapon abilities in the free slot.
  122. - The default class, Suppin, has no equipment restrictions, but also has
  123. no innate Abilities beyond the basic Attack and Item commands that all
  124. classes have (save for one). However, it also gets two free Ability slots
  125. and gains the innate Auto-Abilities of all the classes the character has
  126. mastered.
  127. - Sadly, there's no way to prevent the game from messing with your gear
  128. when all you do is change an ability. The game will automatically either
  129. unequip everything or equip the strongest equipment available. (Changed
  130. in the 2023 version.)
  131.
  132. - Each map area has at most four different encounters.
  133. - The world maps consist of 64 map sections at 32x32 tiles each. Different
  134. terrain have different encounter sets.
  135. - Aside from a regular battle, battles can also be either a Pre-Emptive,
  136. in your favor, (1/8 chance) or a Back Attack, in the enemy's favor (1/16
  137. chance). A pre-emptive battle adjusts the first round ATB by adding 90 to
  138. the enemy's ATB, whereas a back attack adds 60 to yours and reverses your
  139. formation. The usual first round adjustment is then made afterwards.
  140. - You can technically run away from battle by holding L and R, but you
  141. should *never* do this. The strongest weapon in the game loses 1 point
  142. of ATP every time you run away, so just don't do it.
  143. - In stark contrast to FFIV, enemies only have at most one item they can
  144. drop, and the odds are either 100% or 6,25% (1/16), with the latter being
  145. the general norm.
  146. - You can once again steal items using Nusumu, but you can only steal one
  147. item from a given enemy. Enemies can have two different stealable items:
  148. common and rare. The general Steal success rate is 40% (double with a
  149. Thief's Glove). If that roll succeeds, another roll is made to determine
  150. if you get the rare item, with odds of 10/256 (~4%).
  151. - Enemy AI scripts typically involve randomly choosing an action from a
  152. group of three possible actions (1/3 chance each). A confused enemy will
  153. randomly use moves that they're able to use when being controlled.
  154. - The inventory has 256 slots for items, which is more than enough for
  155. all the items in the game (about 215). You can't have the same item in
  156. more than one slot.
  157. - If you want to translate any of the Japanese words, just punch it into
  158. jisho.org.
  159.
  160. - Status ailments/effects:
  161.
  162. Doku (Poison) | Lose 1/16 mHP every 3(20+Tai) ATB / 1/64 per step on field
  163. Regen | Gain (Tai*Lv)/16 HP every 2(110 - Mag) ATB
  164. Bleed | Lose 1~2 HP every 8 ATB for 255 ATB
  165. Kurayami | Accuracy/4 (Darkness)
  166. Chinmoku | Unable to cast magic for a while (Silence)
  167. Nemuri (Sleep)| Unable to act. Negated if physically attacked.
  168. Mahi (Paral.) | Unable to act for a while
  169. Haste | ATB charge halved
  170. Slow | ATB charge doubled
  171. Stop | Unable to act for a while
  172. Konran (Conf.)| Attack allies. Negated if physically attacked.
  173. Rouka (Old) | All stats except Lv decrease by 1 every 10 ATB
  174. Kaeru (Toad) | ATP=3, DFP=0, Eva=0, MDF=0
  175. Kobito (Mini) | ATP=3, DFP=0, Eva*2
  176. Levitate | Unaffected by ground-based attacks
  177. Berserk | No control, Auto-Attack, ATP*1,5 (Kyousenshi)
  178. Bunshin1/2 | Evade one/two physical attacks
  179. Protect | ATPm/2 for incoming attacks
  180. Shell | Magic multiplier & Accy / 2 for incoming attacks
  181. Reflect | Reflect spells at the opposing party for a limited time
  182. Zombie | Attack allies. Can't die.
  183. Sekika | Petrification (essentially dead)
  184. Instant Death | Instant death (ID)
  185. Removed | Removed from battle
  186.
  187. - Effects not removed after battle: Poison, Kurayami, Chinmoku, Toad,
  188. Mini, Levitate, Petrification, and Zombie.
  189. - Poison timer for enemies = 3(20 + Lv) ATB.
  190. - Silence doesn't affect Blue Magic.
  191. - The duration of limited time effects may vary depending on the source.
  192. Eg. the Silence spell has a base duration 180 ticks, but when caused by
  193. an enemy's special attack, it can have a base duration of 240 ticks.
  194. - Healing Old will remove the ailment, but it won't revert the stat loss.
  195. They're only restored after battle. For enemies, Old affects Lv, Mag, Spd.
  196. - Auto-Regen has a bug that may set the first character's timer to 30 (60
  197. ATB) after the initial round, resulting in faster regeneration than normal.
  198.
  199. - Healing items:
  200. Potion | 50 HP Dokukeshi | Poison
  201. Hi-Potion | 500 HP Megusuri | Kurayami
  202. Ether | 40 MP Otome no Kiss | Toad
  203. Elixir | 100% HP & MP Uchide no Kozuchi| Mini
  204. Phoenix no O | Revive with 25% HP Kin no Hari | Petrification
  205. Tent | 1000 HP & 100 MP (all) Seisui | Zombie
  206. Cottage | 100% HP & MP (all)

  248. ===== World 1 =====
  249.
  250.
  251. Default (Butz): Broad Sword, Kawa no Fuku
  252.
  253. - You start off at Level 1 with 3 Potions, 500 gil and the key item
  254. Katami no Fukuro (Temp). Your default class is the Suppin.
  255. - Check the Config. Here's what I (tend to) use
  256. Command shitei Tanshuku (Command Input)
  257. Cursor ichi Kioku (Cursor Position)
  258. Saisoubi Subete hazusu (Auto-Equip)
  259. Controller
  260. Y - Confirm
  261. B - Cancel
  262. S - Map
  263.
  264. - Do try out the alternate command window (tanshuku). Instead of the
  265. typical vertical list, the alternate one has the commands in cardinal
  266. directions, allowing you to access any command with a single d-pad input.
  267. It does take up more horizontal space, though, so enemy names are mostly
  268. blocked vs only slightly blocked with the regular one.
  269.
  270. Item: Phoenix no O \\\ Tycoon no Inseki ||
  271. - You'll meet Lenna and Galuf, who soon join the party.
  272.
  273. Item (nc): Pendant A (Key) \\\ Tycoon Region ||
  274. Default (Lenna): Knife (Unique), Kawa no Fuku
  275. Default (Galuf): Kawa no Fuku
  276. PCs: Lenna Lv1, Galuf Lv1
  277.
  278. \\\ Kaizoku no Agito ||
  279. Items: Kawa no Boushi, Tent, Ether, 300 gil
  280. Item (nc): Pendant B (Key)
  281. Blue: Kyuuketsu (Steel Bat)
  282. Default (Faris): Dagger, Kawa no Tate, Kawa no Fuku
  283. PC: Faris Lv3
  284. - DON'T EVER RUN AWAY FROM BATTLES! The strongest weapon in the game
  285. loses 1 point of ATP every time you run away.
  286. - Once you reach the pirate hideout, go examine the wheel of the ship.
  287. Eventually, you'll have control of the ship, and Faris will join you
  288. as the fourth and final party member (kind of, not really).
  289. - Given that you're stuck in inland waters, there's not much you can do
  290. with the ship. Whatever you do, don't go wandering around the eastern
  291. areas near the canal. Those Bandersnatches will slaughter you.
  292.
  293. \\\ Tule ||
  294. Items: Ether, 100 gil, Kawa no Kutsu (trap)
  295. Items (nc): Tent, Phoenix no O, Potion, 150 gil, Tent, Potion,
  296. Phoenix no O, Kawa no Kutsu
  297. Special: Piano 1
  298. Shop:
  299. Broad Sword 280 gil Fire 150 gil
  300. Rod 200 gil Blizzard 150 gil
  301. Tsue 200 gil Thunder 150 gil
  302. Cure 180 gil
  303. Kawa no Fuku 80 gil Libra 80 gil
  304. Kawa no Boushi 50 gil Poisona 90 gil
  305. Kawa no Tate 90 gil
  306.
  307. Potion 40 gil
  308. Tent 250 gil
  309.
  310. - The chest on the second floor of the Beginner's House is a
  311. monster-in-a-box; you'll have to fight SEPHIROTH for a Kawa no Kutsu.
  312. - Examine the piano at the pub after getting some "service" from the
  313. dancers (sit on the chair right next to the stage). If you practice
  314. with every piano in the world, you'll learn two new skills for one of
  315. your classes.
  316. - You don't really need to pick up too much new gear (from the shops,
  317. that is). One Broad Sword would be enough. You'll find one more in the
  318. Wind Shrine, and Faris will do fine with her Dagger.
  319.
  320. \\\ Kaze no Shinden ||
  321. Items: Tent, Kawa no Boushi, Broad Sword, Tsue
  322. Items (nc): 5× Potions
  323. Blue: Goblin Punch (Black Goblin), Aero (Mold Wind)
  324. Special: Class Unlock 1 (Knight, Monk, Thief, Shiromadoushi, Kuromadoushi,
  325. Aomadoushi)
  326. Boss: Wing Raptor
  327. - DO NOT RUN AWAY FROM BATTLES!
  328.
  329. [Boss]
  330. - 250 HP
  331. - Bosses in FFV don't give you any Experience or Gil, by the way (with
  332. a few slight exceptions).
  333. - Breath Wing deals proportional damage (25% mHP) (one of the three
  334. 'quarter specials').
  335.
  336. - After the event in the crystal room, you'll have access to the first
  337. 6 classes: Knight, Monk, Thief, White Mage, Black Mage and Blue Mage.
  338. - You can use the teleporter in the crystal room to get outside, but,
  339. if you walk, you can pick up Aero and Goblin Punch on your way (you
  340. can get Goblin Punch from the regular Goblins as well). Keep in mind,
  341. the message that tells you that you learned a new skill won't be displayed
  342. until the end of the battle, and the skill won't show up on your list
  343. until after the battle. Also, keep in mind that Blue Magic spells are
  344. shared, so you don't have to learn them individually for each character
  345. (unlike in other installments).
  346.
  347. - Get Blue Mage to Lv2 so you'll get the Learning Auto-Ability (allowing
  348. you to pick up enemy skills without having Blue Mages), and White Mage
  349. to Lv1 so you can cast healing spells without actually having a White
  350. Mage. Keep leveling up the White Mage as you gain new useful spells (each
  351. line represents one level). Getting the Blue Mage to Lv3 gives you the
  352. Blue Magic Command Ability. Try to get that too at some point.
  353. - The Suppin automatically inherits the innate Auto-Abilities once the
  354. character masters a specific class. Of course, seeing as most battles
  355. give you only 1 AP early in the game, you won't have many mastered classes
  356. by the end of World 1, and there's no need. Either way, the Suppin becomes
  357. the best physical class once you've mastered the Monk, Ninja and Karyuudo.
  358. I'd consider these your highest priority.
  359. - The Knight's Ryoutemochi (Lv3) allows you to double your ATPm, but it's
  360. of no use to Monks, Ninjas, or Karyuudos, as it only works with swords and
  361. axes.
  362. - Do *not* try to use the Thief's Lv2 Command Ability, Tonzura (Flee)!
  363.
  364. Item (nc): Unga no Kagi (Key, Temp) \\\ Tule Mura ||
  365. - Go see the guy in the north-most building to get the key to the canal.
  366.
  367. Items (nc): 8× Potions \\\ Kaizoku no Agito ||
  368. - You can get 8 Potions from one of the pirates now. And don't forget
  369. about Kyuuketsu.
  370.
  371. Party: Lv9 \\\ Torna Unga ||
  372. Boss: Karlabos
  373. - Make sure you've got everything you need from the previous areas
  374. before proceeding. It'll be a short while before you can get back.
  375.
  376. [Boss]
  377. - 650 HP, 5 AP
  378.
  379. \\\ Fune no Hakaba ||
  380.
  381. Items: Flail, Tent, Phoenix no O, Potion, Dokukeshi, Dokukeshi,
  382. Phoenix no O
  383. Items (nc): 990 gil, Sekai Chizu (Key)
  384. Boss: Siren
  385.
  386. - You'll start off at full health, but if you need to, you can rest
  387. below deck. You can also rest in the area before the Save Point, which
  388. isn't that far from the boss.
  389. - In order to reach the chest with the Flail, you'll need to stand
  390. still on the rock next to your ship for a couple of seconds.
  391. - Most of the "indoor" areas are part of the same ship, but there's
  392. another ship you can enter near the end. This is one of the best places
  393. to gain AP early in the game (3 AP is common).
  394.
  395. [Boss]
  396. - 900 HP, 5 AP, Bronze Armor / Bronze Shield
  397.
  398. \\\ Carwen no Machi ||
  399. Items (nc): 1000 gil, Koori no Rod, Dokukeshi
  400. Special: Piano 2
  401. Shop:
  402. Dagger 300 gil Dokukeshi 40 gil
  403. Long Sword 480 gil Megusuri 20 gil
  404. Otome no Kiss 60 gil
  405. Bronze Armor 400 gil Uchide no Kozuchi 50 gil
  406. Dou no Muneate 350 gil Kin no Hari 150 gil
  407. Momen no Robe 300 gil Phoenix no O 1000 gil
  408. Bronze Helm 250 gil
  409. Bronze Shield 290 gil Sleep 300 gil
  410. Silence 280 gil
  411. Protect 280 gil
  412.
  413. - Uh, better hit that mute button...
  414.
  415. Items: Phoenix no O, Kin no Hari \\\ Kita no Yama ||
  416. Item (nc): Mythril Helm
  417. Theft: Ginbuchi Megane (Bloxx)
  418. Blue: Flash (Bloxx), Aero (Magisa)
  419. Boss(es): Magisa (& Forza)
  420.
  421. - DO NOT RUN AWAY FROM BATTLES!
  422. - The Ginbuchi Megane has the same stats as the Kawa no Kutsu but also
  423. grants immunity to Kurayami (Blind / Darkness).
  424. - Unfortunately, the Bloxx don't have enough MP to cast Flash, so the
  425. only way to learn it here is to use an Ether on one of them. I wouldn't

  591. - Poltergeists will sometimes confuse you, and Motor Traps can inflict

  598. - 3000 HP (each), 6 AP + Honoo no Yumiya / Katon no Jutsu / Honoo no Rod
  599. - The boss can change between three different forms, and the item he
  600. drops depends on which form he's using when you kill him. I suggest
  601. you try and get the Honoo no Yumiya by killing him in his tornado form.
  602. The two alternatives are not very impressive; a Katon no Jutsu from
  603. the man-like form or a Honoo no Rod from the giant hand. Unfortunately,
  604. he won't change his form unless you attack him, so there's a fair chance
  605. you'll kill him in the wrong form. Might take a couple of resets before

  635. - You'll run automatically during this entire event.
  636. - Unlike most other trapped chests in the game, these ones do *not*

  642. - No need to try and score a Daichi no Koromo. You've already got
  643. enough stuff to do here. And the Mage Masher isn't really worth using

  650. and a Gunsou. Once you take out the doggies, the Gunsou will transform

  652. - Iron Claw doesn't have that much HP (900), so only attack him a couple
  653. of times, then start waiting for Death Claw (single digit HP + Mahi, 66%
  654. hit rate). It's not *that* big of a deal if you miss it (you can easily
  655. learn it in W2). There are a couple of W1 bosses that are vulnerable to it,
  656. but I'm sure you can beat them even without it. Either way, you probably

  664. - The Main Gauche gives you a 1/4 evade chance, separate from regular

  724. - Once you've learned it, go level up for a while, so you don't have
  725. to worry about getting hit with it again while you're actually going
  726. through the dungeon.
  727. - Defeating a Page with a counter prevents it from switching, which will

  928. - 12 500 HP (Sol Cannon), W:T, 800 HP (Launcher), 7 AP
  929. - The Sol Cannon will slowly power up for the Hadouhou, which deals
  930. proportional damage (50% mHP) and inflicts Bleed. You're going to have a
  931. hard time surviving that with the Launchers constantly halving your cHP
  932. and inflicting Old, which quickly renders a character worthless.
  933. - Take out the Launchers as quickly as possible with either Lv5 Death

  935. - The default target is the Sol Cannon. To target the Launchers, press left.

1246. - Southeast of Exdeath's continent is a long series of islands not
1247. unlike the one you saw in World 1. The above enemies can be found in

  1259.
  1260. [Boss]
  1261. - 8888 HP (Gilgamesh), 4000 HP (Enkidu)
1262. - The Genji no Kote is a regular steal, so a single character with
1263. Steal is all you need.
1264. - Once Gilgamesh has taken some damage, Enkidu will drop in and heal
1265. him with White Wind. Enkidu can be killed with Iainuki.

  1280.
1281. - You will no longer have access to this dungeon once you complete the
  1282. events here.
1283. - You can rest at the sub, and if you examine the wheel, Zeza will take
  1284. you back.
1285. - Using metallic equipment seems to result in an accuracy penalty here.
1286. - You'll immediately find the first Save Point on the 2nd floor.
1287. - There are two trapped chests here; one on the 3rd floor and one on
1288. 9F. The enemy you'll fight is either a Red Dragon (7500) or two Yellow
1289. Dragons (8500 HP)(I'll count them as bosses).
1290. × The Blood Sword is powerful but inaccurate.
1291. × The Kin no Kamikazari doesn't have much defense but halves the MP
1292. consumption of spells (only during battles, however).
1293. - To learn Lv3 Flare from a Red Dragon, you have to Reflect them, as you
1294. can't target your party with it when controlling them. You can Reflect
1295. them by capturing and releasing a Neon or by mixing a Ryuu no Kiba with
  1296. a Phoenix Down.
1297. - Likewise, you have to use Reflect to learn Lv5 Death or Lv2 Old from
  1298. the Level Trickers.
1299. - Stealing Partisans isn't really necessary unless you see yourself
1300. using the Dragoon in the near future. Either way, you can find Ziggurat
1301. Gigases on the top floors.
1302. - The second Save Point is on the 10th floor.
  1303.
  1304. [Boss]
  1305. - Lv41, 19 997 HP, 12 AP
1306. - Atomos will spam you with Comet until at least one of your characters
1307. is dead. He will then start pulling the bodies slowly towards him. Any
1308. bodies that are pulled too close will be removed from battle. Obviously,
1309. you shouldn't let that happen, but having a dead character is the only
1310. way to avoid being barraged by Comet, which he will otherwise frequently
1311. cast two or three times in a row, and a single one can hit as high as
1312. 1000 pod. Shell would reduce the damage quite a bit, but even then it
1313. might be hard to keep up.
1314. - If you go in with two Twin Lancers on each character, he should go down
  1315. quickly.
1316. - A swift and filthy method would involve casting Kuro no Shougeki and
  1317. Lv5 Death.
  1318.
1319. - After the events, you will obtain the submarine. Return to the sunken

1326. - Metamorpha can transform into various enemies you've seen earlier in
1327. the game. None of these are exact copies of their true incarnations,
1328. and he will transform back after using one attack. He can only transform
1329. into three specific enemies in a given encounter. His current HP will
1330. transfer between forms, but the transformations are indeed considered
  1331. different enemies.
1332. × You'll have the easiest time learning Aeroga in the area with the 5
  1333. chests.
1334. × If you want a Hikari no Tsue, get it on B4. Use Kakutou and you should
1335. be able to take him out before he transforms.

1409. the Gilgame. Before you try to do this, I suggest you do everything at
1410. Exdeath's Castle (aside from finishing it) and build up there. It's not
1411. really necessary, but it helps.
  1412.
  1413. [Boss]
  1414. - Lv57, 32 768 HP, W:I, Undead
1415. - His physical attacks (normal and Kame no Koura) deal ab. 1300 pod. Kame
1416. no Koura can also inflict a number of status ailments. He'll counter every
1417. attack with 2 Kame no Kouras (4 when using two weapons or Midareuchi).
1418. - Have a Knight using Mamori while the other 3 characters are low on HP.
1419. - He'll use Jishin as a final attack (~4000 pod to all). If you hit him
1420. with Kuro no Shougeki and Lv2 Old, it'll only do about 600 (2000 with
1421. just Kuro no Shougeki). Kuro no Shougeki only has a low chance of hitting,
1422. so it's just easier to go with Levitate.
1423. - Dual-wield Mahouken Blizzaga Midareuchi will do 12k of damage. If you

1450. - 3F: Once you hit the suspicious looking dead end, simply try to leave
  1451. to trigger a scene.
1452. - After triggering the scene, you can encounter Ankokumadoushis on the
1453. the basement floors. Stealing a couple of Sabaki no Tsues would be
1454. recommended, as it's the strongest staff in the game. You can find
1455. them on higher levels as well, but it's probably better to do it as
1456. close to a save point as possible. These guys can be fairly unpleasant
1457. to hang out with, as they spam you with nice little spells like Death,
1458. Stop, Confuse and Break. To top it off, they're immune to Iainuki.
1459. - You can find Motor Drives in the room where the recovery spring used
1460. to be on 1F. The Beast Killer does double damage to many enemies.
1461. - For some reason, hitting Blue Dragons with Lv2 Old increases their
1462. stats as opposed to lowering them. If you want to try it, make sure you
1463. save the game first. Their specials will deal four times as much damage
1464. as normal (the effect seems temporary). You can find them in the room
1465. where the recovery point used to be and on 7F.
  1466. - 6F: Introducing lava. Without a Fuusuishi or Levitate, you'll take

1778. - Check the walls in the room with the two switches to find a Hi-Potion

1806. - You will no longer have access to this dungeon once you complete the
  1807. events here.
1808. - This place has two towers, and you'll split into two groups, so you
1809. can complete them at the same time (kind of).
1810. - WARNING! Do *not* use physical attacks in the left tower. This will
1811. prompt the enemy to counter with a nasty attack of some kind (unless
1812. your attack kills them). In the right tower, the Duel Knight will counter
  1813. magic, but that's it.
1814. - Iainuki can be used in either one. Only one of the enemies is immune.
1815. - You'll start with the left tower. Once you reach the 8th floor, you'll
1816. switch to the other team (if you want the other Cornago no Tsubo, set
1817. Steal and equip Touzoku no Kotes before you approach the door).
1818. - The only way to get more Dengeki Muchis is to try and steal them from
1819. Flayers. The weapon has no use at this point in the game, and the Flayers
1820. counter by attacking twice for max damage, so this is certainly not worth
  1821. your time and effort.
1822. - When you attack with the Wonder Wand, you'll be prompted to cast white
1823. magic or black magic instead.
  1824.

  1832. - 16 999 HP, W:N, 20 AP
1833. - When trying to get the second Cornago no Tsubo, you don't have to cast
1834. Return yourself, as the boss uses it as a counter to physical attacks.
1835. He won't counter Steal, though, unlike the normal enemies.
1836. - Use Dispel to get rid of his Shell (and Reflect and Haste if he uses
1837. those). You can also use it to get rid of Slow.
1838. - Once close to death, he'll start using -ga-level spells (~1400 pod).
  1839.
1840. - Mahouken Flare increases ATP by 100.
1841. - Afterwards, the dungeon will disappear, and in its place you'll find
1842. the hangar. Drop in, and Cid will modify your airship, so it can turn
1843. into a sub. This allows you to access the sunken Worus Tower, Istory no
1844. Taki, Daikaikou and Monoshiri-jiisan's. The last one isn't visible on
1845. the map (it's south of Karnak). (For some reason, the map still shows
  1846. a marker near Mua.)
1847. × Monoshiri-jiisan can show you the following stats:
  1848. × Battles fought
  1849. × Enemies killed
  1850. × Average total Exp
  1851. × Treasure found
  1852. × Number of saves

  1889. - You'll quickly find a Save Point on B3.
1890. - B6 is probably the best place to level up in the game. The two most

2050. Blue: Death Claw (Death Claw), Magic Hammer (Death Claw - Control)
  2051.
2052. Bosses: Apanda, Apocalypse, Catastrophe, Halicarnassus, Twin Tania
  2053.
2054. - Examine the book on the table to fight Apanda.
  2055.
  2056. [Boss: Apanda]
  2057. - Lv59, 22 200 HP, W:F, 16 AP, Susu (100%)
  2058.
2059. - You'll find the next boss in the dungeon of the castle (the cell on
2060. the left; ignore the other ones for now).
  2061.
  2062. [Boss: Apocalypse]
  2063. - Lv57, 27 900 HP, W:P, 22 AP
2064. - Apocalypse knows almost every enemy skill in the book. This includes
2065. Lv5 Death, so you probably shouldn't fight him when your level is
  2066. divisible by 5.
2067. - Don't miss the Kyojin no Kote.
2068. - When he dies, he leaves behind the 2nd Save Point.
  2069.
2070. - Approaching the guys in the other cells will trigger encounters with
2071. Alte Roite (6000 HP) / Jura Avis (15 000 HP). Roite likes to cast Circle,
2072. so don't go easy on them. Iainuki, Death Claw and Missile work on Jura Avis.
  2073.
  2074. [Boss: Catastrophe]
  2075. - Lv71, 19 997 HP, 21 AP
  2076.
2077. - In the throne room, you'll fight Halicarnassus.
  2078.
  2079. [Boss: Halicarnassus]
  2080. - Lv97, 33 333 HP, 20 AP
  2081.
2082. - Return to save before proceeding to the rooftop of the main tower.
2083. Unfortunately, the short cut only works one way.
  2084.
  2085. [Boss: Twin Tania]
  2086. - 50 000 HP, W:H, 24 AP
2087. - Tania is fairly consistent in countering physical attacks with Tidal
2088. Wave (possibly two of them when using Midareuchi) and magical attacks
2089. with Mega Flare (both 1000 pod to all). The other attacks are not as
  2090. powerful.
2091. - Tania will regularly switch to Hyper Mode (no visible change) to
2092. unleash Giga Flare, which deals a fairly substantial amount of damage
2093. (3100 to all, ignores MDF). This is when you can steal the Kyojin no
2094. Ono, the only other one in the game. However, if you want the Tinker
2095. Bell as well, you'll have to kill it in its normal form. It'll switch
2096. forms after the two Kamaitachis. Look at your HP figures to tell exactly
2097. when this happens (Mind Blast's bleeding effect will pause for a moment).
2098. It'll switch back to form A soon after Giga Flare. Wait 2 seconds after
2099. the damage figures disappear, then finish it off.
  2100.
2101. - You can find Youjinbous fairly easily on top of the main tower.
  2102.
  2103. \\\ Crystal Plane ||

  2106.
  2107. Theft:
2108. Gilgamesh 6 | Genji no Tate (Unique)
2109. King Behemoth | Phoenix no O / Blood Sword
2110. Suishouryuu | Elixir / Hiryuu no Yari
  2111. Gorchimera | Hi-Potion / Aegis no Tate
  2112. Necromancer | Seisui / Bone Armor
  2113. Belfegor | Engetsurin / Rising Sun
2114. Mindflayer | Green Beret / Main Gauche
2115. Gilgamesh 7 | Genji no Yoroi (Unique)
  2116.
  2117. Bosses: Gilgamesh 6, Necrophobia & 4× Barriers + Gilgamesh 7, (Shinryuu),
  2118. Exdeath 2, Neo Exdeath
  2119.
2120. - Telepo will not work here.
2121. - You don't gain any Experience from the enemies here.
2122. - You can take out King Behemoths easily with Break Blade.
2123. - You can encounter Suishouryuus in the first and third areas.
2124. - You'll immediately run into an old friend.
  2125.
  2126. [Boss: Gilgamesh 6]
2127. - Nothing really happens here. Just steal the Genji no Tate.
  2128.
2129. - As soon as you reach the third area, you'll see a lone chest at the
2130. end of a flight of stairs. DO NOT OPEN THIS CHEST!
2131. × In order to take out Shinryuu (55 500 HP), you'll want at least two
2132. characters with two Hiryuu no Yaris. This will allow you to take him
2133. out in a single round. You'll need to equip Sango no Yubiwas to survive
2134. the Tidal Wave he always starts off with (a modest ~8000 pod to all).
2135. The item he drops (Ryuu no Monshou) has no use.
2136. - The fourth area is the last one. In order to access the final Save
2137. Point, you'll have to take care of Necrophobia.
  2138.
  2139. [Boss: Necrophobia & Gilgamesh 7]
  2140. - 44 044 HP
2141. - Take out the four Barriers (8800 HP), then start bringing down
2142. Necrophobia's HP, but do *not* kill him. You'll have to get his HP
2143. below 10 000 in order to make Gilgamesh appear. Before that happens,
2144. you'll have to put up with some fairly powerful attacks (Shinkuuha,
  2145. Hurricane, Death).
2146. - Once Gil drops in, steal the Genji no Yoroi, then just wait.
2147. - You could steal a third Touzoku no Kote from Necrophobia but only
2148. after taking down the Barriers. Just let it go.
  2149.
2150. - You can only find Movers in the fourth area. They're worth quite a
2151. bit of gil and AP.
  2152.
  2153. [Boss: Exdeath]
2154. - Nothing special in the first battle (49 001 HP).
2155. - The second form has four targets as well as two dummy targets that
2156. you have a solid chance of hitting instead of any proper target.
2157. - Expect heavy damage from all attacks (Almagest: 1600 pod to all).
2158. Don't look at Grand Cross.
  2159.
  2160.
  2161.
  2162.
  2163.
  2164. End of file.
