NEWRP Alchemy:

Based on various 'processes' which link two concepts/objects/ideas together. The  process is described in the Circle of Transmutation, which all Alchemists carry a variation of: a set of wooden, co-centric rings, which can be moved. In different positions, the Circle describes different processes. It is said that about 70% of them have been discovered, an estimate by various alchemy academics.

Among these, are the so-called Great Projects, a few of which, completed already. Their effects on the world are said to be nothing short of amazing.

Other than the great projects, they can transmute things on the spot, especially useful when attached to devices. Processes that convert ore to pure minerals, or automatic lanterns (artificial lighting), dissolution of many difficult substances, flawless creation of various alloys and compounds with healing effects, toxins, anti-toxins, explosives, cleaning agents and whatnot.

Most ALchemists either find employ and specialize in the transmutation of specific types of matter, or production of specific types of products, or join with the effort of completing a certain Great Project, from the below list:

1. The Supreme Ink

A special type of ink that is said to respond not just to the change of color of the Painters' brushes, but also their emotions. It is believed that this ink is the only one which can write the Sacred Stories spoken in the primordial language, some of the oldest and most important texts which no Calligraphist of Painter has been able to convey to this day. Alchemists are divided, just like the Calligraphists and Painters on the  matter of who deserves it more.

2. Perpetual Flame

One of the already completed projects. A flame that never goes out and can only grow, or remain as is. It exists in the form of a Defender Spirit of the Steam City, the Red Giant. A vast skeleton of Oriate, a nigh-indestructible metal, which houses and withstands the flames at it's heart. The process involved creating the idea of a Perpetual Flame, and then bringing it into being. According to rumors, it involved fastening a core together to the skeleton using the very needle and threads of fate.

3. Elixirs of Life and Purity

Elixirs which are said to respectively extend one's natural lifespan by 100 years, by giving them youth, and purifying all toxins and diseases, respectively made from the root and petals of the Immortals Rose, a species of flower whose seeds and cultivation method are lost to history. Allegedly, very little of it can be made at any given time, and using either the root or petals, ruins the one left unused. A lot of debate goes into which is the most useful Elixir of the two. It is said that these already exist, and the fact that sages of incredible age (three centuries) are alive to this day, lends some degree of credence. Gardeners are more interested in the Rose of course.

4. Face of the Sun

A legendary jewel. Made from a gemstone found deep within the Heliopolitan Ruins, not yet discovered of course. The gemstone is then processed to be able to 'listen' to people's impulses and thoughts. It can absorb, store, amplify and redirect light as it wishes. High power laser beams capable of destroying entire cities, artificial illumination over a large area, even cooking is possible with it. Allegedly, it can also be used to replace someone's lost eyes or inserted into their forehead when both are available, granting vision over a tremendous area.

5. Prime Human

Based in the myths, the Prime Human was a legendary human who took it upon himself to alter his body using an ancient ritual. It allowed him to fly, run faster than the speed of sound, punch through 10 meter walls of solid concrete, bend metal against his bare skin, or even project so intense body heat or bio-electricity, so that he appeared to be manipulating fire and thunder. The work on this project has not officially even begun, due to the disagreements over just how to go about it. Unfortunately, certain shadowy and unstable groups (read: cults) have already begun their efforts.

6. Brain of Ios

Ios was an ancient, genius alchemist who brought about many discoveries about alchemy to the world. One of his theories involved a so called 'Brain' which would be able to perceive time differently from us, allowing it to see the future. There were some ideas jotted down by Ios, however all of them scattered, and only a few of them have been rediscovered. The project is slow, but there is an entire branch of alchemy attempting it. Iosan Alchemists have even opened up a school, that other than the Brain of Ios, researches the way in which space, time and energy function.

7. Oriac Cauldron

Allegedly a cauldron made to withstand the highly corrosive liquid that can dissolve anything (except for Oriate) and then produce Pre-Oriate. Pre-Oriate is a liquid which when cooled enough, hardens into Oriate proper, which is very useful for a large number of operations, it withstands corrosion, pressure, forces of various sort, as well as heat, all quite well. It's reputation for being near unbreakable is well deserved. The Oriac Cauldron was the earliest known Project, and it has had a lot of work put into it.
