  2. By

  4. -One Shot-
  5.
  6. The wooden wheel of the horse drawn wagon slowly made its way down the main cobblestone street of Hyrule Castle Market Town. Sitting atop of the wagon was a young women around the age of twenty. She was tall for a female her skin was had a light tan to it. Her flaming red hair was tied up in a bun. She wore a clean pressed white dress. To finish this look she wore white stockings with polished Mary Janes.
  7.
  8. Sitting beside the young women was a young school child. She too had long flaming red hair that was tied back in a pony tail with a bright yellow ribbon holding it in place. She wore a good cotton blouse and a pleated navy blue jumper over it. To finish this look she too wore white stockings with polished Mary Janes. She too was quite tall for her age and for a girl none the less.
  9.
  10. The wagon slowly made its way down the cobblestone paved streets, the morning fog had yet to lift and the bakers where just now putting bread in the oven and placing freshly made donuts on the displace racks. The young girl turned her head and licked her lips at the sight of these tasty little treats. The older women simply smiled at the younger ones childishness behavior.
  11.
  12. “Romani, do you some donuts for breakfast, since I kind of hurried you away from your oak meal this morning?” Said the young women in a low tone of voice. She then reached her hands into her dress pocket and felted around. After a few seconds of mentally counting the value of coins in her head she smiled, she had more than enough to buy a dozen donuts and a pot of coffee. And maybe she would have a little left over for her lunch today.
  13.
  14. Romani looked up; she flashed a small smile toward her sister. It was like she had read her mind. No more than two seconds passed before Romani in her hyper-active tone of voice answered her sister’s question.
  15.
  16. “Yes, sister I would love some donut’s,” Her face almost shone as she said this.
  17.
  18. “Ok, I think the sweet-tooth fairy has the best or does the Sugar-apple,” Said Cremai pulling the wagon over to the side of the street. She had stopped around a few hundred few away from both shops. The morning fog had started to lift now and the streetlamps where starting to fade away. More people where coming out now, the silversmiths and blacksmiths where heading toward there forges and a few merchants where heading toward there shops.
  19.
  20. Romani took a few sniffs of the morning air; she blinked and smiled to herself. Her older sister Cremia arched an eyebrow at her younger sister. “Romani what did I tell you about sniffing the morning air, its not lady like,” She added.
  21.
  22. “The Sweet-tooth fairy has the best smelling donuts and the Sugar-apple has not even put them in the oil,” Said Romani in a matter of fact tone of voice. A puzzled look came across Cremai face. She blinked a few times before saying.
  23.
  24. “And you can tell this by just taking a few sniffs of the morning air?” Asked Cremai.
  25.
  26. “I can, I can smell a lot of diffented things that normal people can’t smell,” Added Romani.
  27.
  28. “I will take your word for it, to the Sweet-tooth fairy it is then,” Said Cremai pointing toward a small little bakery. A faint blushed formed across Romani face; she then walked up to her sister and whispered to her sister.
  29.
  30. “Sister that’s the Sugar-apple, the Sweet tooth fair is next to the freshwater fish market that’s at the crossing.” Said Romani.
  31.
  32. Cremai cheeks turned an apple red. She turned around and smiled at her little sister. Okay how did this little girl know more about the layout of the city than she did?
  33.
  34. “Lead the way then, Romani,” She said biting her tongue back.
  35.
  36. Romani nodded and started walking down the sidewalk, after four minutes of walking a swift pace the two sisters found themselves standing before a small bakery. Above the door of the bakery hug a wooden sign the wooden sign had been painted a bright neo blue and some fancy letters had been carved into it.
  37.
  38. Cremai blinked, “I remember this place, it use to be called ‘Dancing Women,’ and no Romani don’t ask me about that name, I was only a young girl them and you are way too young to know about such things,” Said Cremai a slight blush shown across her face.
  39.
  40. “Well at least it’s a bakery, I thinks its more family friendly that a place called ’Dancing Women’, that sounds like the taverns down on Southern Tavern Street.” Added Romani sniffing the air a few more times.
  41.
  42. A look of supirse came across Cremai’s face. How did her little sister know about Southern Tavern Street. Southern Tavern street was northing more than a poorly paved cobblestone street with Taverns and Alehouse on both side of it. And those Taverns where Hell’s. Hells where the worst of the worst.
  43.
  44. “Romani, how do you know about, Southern Tavern Street?” Asked Cremai.
  45.
  46. “Are Heath and Fitness teacher warned us about it during class yesterday. She also descript what kind of paces can be found along Southern Tavern Street,” Said Romani in a very low tone of voice.
  47.
  48. Cremai nodded and then placed her left hand on Romani head and kneeled down to her eye level and look her sister dead in the eye.
  49.
  50. “Romani are you telling me the truth?” Asked Cremai once more. Romani had a nasty habit about lying and the worst thing about it was she was darn good at it too. She was so good that you often had a hard time of telling a lye from the truth.
  51.
  52. Romani looked hurt at this question, her eyes started watering and her checked turned a very blush color. She looked as if she might start crying at any second. She stood there and nodded a few times before she final spoke.
  53.
  54. “I speak nothing but the truth,” Said Romani, her voice was almost cracked and she was on the verge of tears.
  55.
  56. Cremai sat there, she felt rotten inside, she could not stand seeing her sister like this. If anything she wanted to believe her, she wanted to hug and kiss her. She wanted to shower her with affection like her mother had did with her when she was Romani‘s age. But still there was a question, how could she prove Romani was telling the truth. How could she, Romani was something of a brat. A good natured brat but still a brat. Then it struck her, She did not trust her sister.
  57.
  58. “I’m sorry Romani,” Said Cremai standing up and walking into the shop. She should have drawn her into a hug, she should have showed her she was sorry. But still she could not, she would have to ask her teacher when she dropped her off at school.
  59.
  60.
  61.
  62. Romani blinked. She then reached her hands into her jumper’s pocket and pulled out a small sheet of paper her sitter had signed. She scanned down the piece of paper till she came to a small side note that was at the bottom of the page. She would have to ride to the lake with her, she wanted to ride to the lake with her friends and maybe hang out with them. But no the school board thought it would be better if she rode to the lake with her, the stern co-mistress Ms. Josephine Elizabeth Ellsworth. Josephine was known for being very hands on with her students. Her employment of the cane and the paddle had earned her the respected of her peers and the fear of her students.
  63.
  64. Cremai turned around and frowned, Romani must be sulking. Well if it turned out that she was telling the truth she will made it up with some cuddling later on tonight, if it turned out that she had been lying to her, she would find herself over her sisters knee later on tonight. That was the only way to deal if the matter.
  65.
  66. “Romani stop your sulking and hurry up or I’m going to order without you,” Called out Cremai. She had to bite her toung a little.
  67.
  68. Romano nodded and refolded the paper and placed it back into her jumper pocket. She then hurried into the shop she walked up to her sister’s side and waited.
  69.
  70. Cremai looked down and placed her hand on her sisters back and started to gentle rub it, she could not it, she was sure her sister was anger at her, but tonight she will make up for it, she was sure she was not lying now but hugging in a public was not lady like.
  71.
  72. “Welcome to the Sweet-tooth fairy, how may I help you,” Said a young women from behind the counter. She had long flowing brown. She smelled off sugar and oil and her face were dapped with flower. She wore something of a long sleeve blouse and an apron that was caked with frosting and such over the blouse.
  73.
  74. “Yes I would like to order half dozen donuts, hmm,” Said Cremia thinking to her self.
  75.
  76. “Romani would you like some cocoa glazed donuts Romani?” Asked Cremai.
  77.
  78. Romani nodded as if to answer yes to this question.
  79.
  80. “Make that three cocoa glazed and three just glazed,” Said Cremai reaching into her pocket and pulling out a handful of coins. The coins where all different shapes and sizes.
  81.
  82. “Would you like anything else?” The young girl asked.
  83.
  84. “Yes a Pot of Coffee and maybe a bottle of milk,” She said.
  85.
  86. “Your total comes to Seven Rupees,” Said the young women with a slight smile.
  87.
  88. Cremia nodded and handed the young women a deep blue coin followed by two small green coins.
  89.
  90. In a split second a young man with short well kept brown hair placed a small box of donuts on the counter and in another second a old iron coffee pot was placed next to the donuts followed by a glass of milk. Cremai took the coffee and the milk in her hand’s and signed for Romani to fetch the donuts. Romani picked the donuts up and then walked over too a nearby table. Cremia followed next placing the Pot of coffee and glass of milk down on the table.
  91.
  92. “Come on and cheer up already Romani, You are going on a spring field trip to Lake Hlain.” Added Cremai with a small smile. “And it’s a perfect spring day, I’m sure you are going to have a lot of fun.” She added trying to cheer her little sister up.
  93.
  94. “Sure,” Said Romani, she was still a little hurt over the fact that her sister would not believe her about the teacher now she had to be reminded about going to the lake with him. What fun that would be, Oh yes great fun listing to him tell war stories or drown on and on about varies herbs and flowers. No free time to spend with friends.
  95.
  96. “Romani, you only have yourself to blame, if you had not pulled all those jokes, then they would trust you on your own with the other children.” Said Cremia she was growing tired of this foul mood Romani had been in for the past thirty minutes.
  97.
  98. ‘It’s because I’m a half-blood,” Said Romani poking her donut.
  99.
  100. Cremia rolled her eyes at this little Half-blood comment.
  101.
  102. “Romani,” Said Cremai raising an eyebrow. “If you are going to blame somebody or something you better find something better than your blood,” She said in a low tone of voice.
  103.
  104. “Fine,” Said Romani picking up her donut and nibbling on it. She was still hurt though she wanted to ride to the lake with her friends, but now she had to ride to the lake with him.
  105.
  106. “Romani, I will make a deal with you, if you score a good grade on this field trip, then one day next week I will take you and your friends to the lake for a day out” Said Cremai in a even lower tone of voice. She would do anything to make her sister smile at this point.
  107.
  108. Romani did not even look up from her second donut. Cremai rolled her eyes; there was no sense in dragging this conversation out any longer. Romani was going to be in a foul mood all day there is no sense than making it even worst.
  109.
  110. “It’s still not fair,” She added. Finishing her second donut and starting on her third and final one.
  111.
  112. “Nobody said life was fair Romani,” Added Cremai nibbling a little more on her second donut.
  113.
  114. Romani nodded and fished her third donut and then in a few second’s finished the small bottle of milk.
  115.
  116. “Thank you sister for the donuts and milk,” She added. She then bowed to her sister.
  117.
  118. “Your welcome Romani, we better get you to school, I need to talk to the headmaster about something,” She added. Romani nodded.
  119.
  120. Without another word being spoken the two walked out of the door and started toward the wooden horse drawn carriage. Romani took her seat and Cremai took her place and with a quick flick of the whip. The horse and turned around and short of rolled his eyes at the two women before it started slowly making its way down the cobblestone street.
  121.
  122. Before long the horse came to a stop in front of a massive two story building. A small group of horse drawn carriages and a few horses where already there and there where around fifteen or sixteen small groups of school children just hanging around. One girl caught site of Romani and flashed a grin across her face.
  123.
  124. “You can sit, I thought they canned you till you had to be rushed to the school’s nurse,” She called out in a teasing tone of voice. Romani blushed. Then from the corner of her eye she could see two girls slowly making there way toward the wagon.
  125.
  126. One of the girls was quit tall for her age. She had long flowing brown hair and her arms where short of thick, she was not fat and not skinny. She had the look of a harden tomboy about her. She glared toward the girl how had been teasing Romani.
  127.
  128. “Don’t mind them Romani-Chan,” she said.
  129.
  130. Cremai eyed the young girl and smiled. Well at least Romani had some good friends to look after her. She flashed a small smiled toward the tomboyish girl and the tomboyish girl returned the smile with a smile of her own.
  131.
  132. “Good morning to you too Cremia-San. You were looking pretty this morning.” Added the tomboyish girl. She giggled a little at. Cremai could feel the blood rushing to her checks as they turned a deep red color.
  133.
  134. ‘Well Romani are you coming down or not?” Teased the tomboyish girl.
  135.
  136. Romani nodded and in a quick blink of an eye she had jumped down from the passenger seat and onto the cobblestone’s.
  137.
  138. “Well you did not have to do that Romani-san,” Added another girl. She was short for her age, she wore glass’s and wore her long golden like hair in a two ponytails.
  139.
  140. “Hey how is the Heath and Fitness teacher?” Asked Cremai jumping down beside her sister. Romani face flushed with color.
  141.
  142. The tomboyish girl pointed toward a tall young women around the same height of Cremia.
  143.
  144. “There she is if you have a question to ask,”
  145.
  146. “Thank you Bess,” Cremai said as she started walking toward the young women. Cremia gentle poked the young teacher in the back and in a split second she turned around and flashed a wide smile toward her.
  147.
  148. “Good morning Cremia, been a while since grade school” She said drawing her into a hug.
  149.
  150. “Its been a while Lizzy,” Said Cremai smiling.
  151.
  152. “Well what have you been upto?” Asked Lizzy toward Cremai.
  153.
  154. “Nothing really, But I do need to ask you a question though?” Said Cremai looking Lizzy in the eye.
  155.
  156. “Shoot,” Answered Lizzy.
  157.
  158. “Have you told the children about Southern Tavern Street, or should I say warned them about southern tavern street.” Said Cremai with a small smile.
  159.
  160. “Yes I have, there young girls growing up in a diffented word. There are such things as ‘Cat Houses’.” A sour look came across her face as she said the word ‘Cat Houses’.
  161.
  162. “Dear lord,” Said Cremai.
  163.
  164. “And they need to be warned, not scared just to have a little information about them, after all you don’t want Romani to end up in a ‘Cat House’? Do you?” She asked raising an eyebrow.
  165.
  166. “Romani is a diffented kind of girl though, there is no way in hell she would enter a ‘*Cat House’.” Cremai said in a rising tone of voice.
  167.
  168. “Once she becomes a teenager things will change, that’s why we have to show them the dark side of the word before she show them the light side of the world,” Said Lizzy in a understanding tone of voice.
  169.
  170. “The whole school system does not make a lick of sense,” Added Cremai.
  171.
  172.
  173. “The whole system of tax’s and funding does not make a lick of sense either Cremai, you still have not changed since grade school.” Added Lizzy as she rolled her eyes in a good humor short of way.
  174.
  175. “Where is the headmaster this morning?” Asked Cremai.
  176.
  177. “Sick in bed, took a spring fever,” Answered Lizzy.
  178.
  179. “Sorry to hear that,” Added Cremai.
