- why is krusie so cute?
- -
- On the surface Kris might seem like a normal teenager, but with a simple inspection to things like their side of the room and how people talk about them (sometimes even behind their back), there's a lot more to Kris than it seems. Sometimes it feels like the townspeople tolerate them because he's Toriel and Asgore's child. That's not to say they'll bring out the pitchforks and torches for all their pranks and behavior otherwise, but take their connection away from their parents and they're much more of a social outcast.
- The fact is, Kris is the only human in the town, and likely an orphan or abandoned by their biological parents. People like Noelle make an effort to befriend them, but it seems that Kris is still quite distant from everyone, not really choosing to engage with most people and their activities like their brother. There's this feeling that they're coasting along through their teenage years.
- And then you have Susie. Her background and family life is still quite in the dark, but going by how people treat her in the town, she's in a situation similar to Kris, and far worse too. She's an actual outcast and likely not the child of a respected member of the town so people have no need to coddle her like how people treat Kris as "Toriel's kid."
- This is what makes Kris and Susie's friendship so wholesome when you bring them together. Their friendship for each other is sincere, having been built from the ground-up through a perilous adventure together. That, and despite their proclivities for mischief, it's quite obvious that their friendship is both good for each other. They are stronger together. Susie is shown to be quite caring for other people despite the tough act she puts on, and Kris is able to experience a true friendship and something to be passionate about through their adventures in the darkworld.
- It's the perfect lifelong friendship. The romantic side that we yearn for is simply a wishful fantasy of what it could evolve into.
- -
- exactly, well put
- it's sort of gives me a nostalgic feeling for something I never really had
- ---
- A true friendship. Something we never had, and all we could ever want.
- -
- I had/have <for 16 years as of this year> a real friendship with a friend, but that's more of a bro friendship, not the chill out on the beach in content silence like kris and susie
- ---
- Same. Toby Fox made an excellent balance when he wrote Kris and Susie together. Their friendship is relatable. Kris and Susie together are stronger than the sum of their parts, and nothing's going to shake that.
- Well, except for [us] perhaps. That's what's going to make the genocide route so heartbreaking I imagine. Nothing's going to hurt Susie more than finding out that Kris as she knows them is sliding out from her grasp.
- -
- I was thinking the other day that Susie would obviously tear down mountains to "free" Kris from whatever is going on during a genocide route, especially since she has the support of her friends now. She isn't alone anymore.
- But it's the genocide route. It's likely all of them are going to drop one by one in time. It might end up being nothing but Susie and Kris by the last chapter. What will she do then? Would she still have the determination to save them? Or would it be worse? Would Susie give in and go along with whatever "Kris" is doing out of sheer desperation to never go back to being alone again.
- Being Susie will be SUFFERING in the genocide route.
- ------
- If it ever does evolve to that route (implied or otherwise), I'll be incredibly happy.
- If they end this adventure bonded as the best of friends for life, I will also be incredibly happy.
