- Alexithymiaa: -Adam sat in the library by himself, his books open across the long empty table with his eyes set down into his textbook. He mumbled to himself as he tried to pronounce the words quietly, moving his finger to run along the line he was reading in French.-
- Tsaaq: Hayley pushed the door open to the library and walked past the librarian, giving her a curt nod as she went over to Adam's table, sitting down beside him and putting her bag down. "Okay, notes." She said as she turned her body to face him.
- Alexithymiaa: -He lifted his eyes from his textbook to look at Hayley when she joined him, grabbing for his notebook to flip through it and find the first set of notes they would have shared, nudging it towards her. "That's bio. What do you think?"-
- Tsaaq: "Jesus fucking Christ." Hayley said under her breath as she looked through the chicken scratch. "Adam." She sat back in her seat and covered her face with her hands. "I don't know what any of this shit says." She whispered everso softly and went to tug at her fuzzy sweater thing before getting her notebook from her bag. "Alright, what is the jist of this page." Hayley waved her hand over his notebook.
- Alexithymiaa: -He awkwardly reached his hand up to scratch at the back of his neck sheepishly, his eyes dropping down to his notebook. "Well this page is hereditary genetics." He looked up from the page and into her face. "Were you there for any of that?"-
- Tsaaq: Hayley licked her lips and ran her fingers through her hair. "Uhhh." She muttered then shook her head. "I don't think so." She finally answered. "But is that the one with the boxes and shit though? Cause I did glance at it in the textbook."
- Alexithymiaa: "Yeah..." He let out a breath, pulling his notebook in front of him so he could read it over as he spoke. "Okay, so do you know anything about how we pass on our genes to our children?" He paused, reaching for his pen and flipping over to a new page. "Dominant and recessive genes?"-
- Tsaaq: "Ummm." She bit down on her lip and crossed her leg over the other and clicked her pen a few times. "Something about genotypes, right?" Hayley replied with a question and a raise of her eyebrow.
- Alexithymiaa: -He dropped his shoulders, looking into his blank notebook. "Okay, let's start small. Every human has forty six chromosomes. You need two people to reproduce, so you're taking half from each person to create all forty six. Which means each person contributes twenty three chromosomes to create a child. These chromosomes make up a person's genetics. What they'll look like, overall health. Things your parents pass down to you. You follow?" He wrote quickly as he spoke, basically rewriting his notes in terrible chicken scratch all over again.-
- Tsaaq: Hayley nodded her head as he spoke. "Uh huh." She said, trying to focus as she began to write in her notebook as well. "Yeah, I think I get it." Hayley glanced over to Adam seeing him writing and shook her head.
- Alexithymiaa: "Okay, so you have dominant and recessive genes of everything in our genetic make up. Certain things, like dark hair for example, are dominant. That means that out of the two hair color chromosomes your parents will give you, only one of them has to contribute a dark hair gene for you to have dark hair. So say a father contributes the dark hair gene, and the mother contributes the light hair gene. Because the dark hair gene is dominant and the light is recessive, the baby will have dark hair. Make sense so far?" He lifted his eyes, raising his brows.-
- Tsaaq: Hayley stared at Adam as he spoke and tried to write what he was saying onto her notebook as well. "Mhm." She nodded her head then leaned her elbows on the table as she shifted in her seat. "So brown eyes would be dominant but like, hazel would be recessive?" She asked.
- Alexithymiaa: "Exactly." He sent her a quick smile before flipping back to his notes to read. "It's kind of a fun game for me since I don't know what either of my biological parents look like. So because my hair isn't dark, I know both of them had light hair. And they both had to of had blue eyes to pass that down to me. But here's the kicker, parents don't need to outwardly show the genes in appearance to be something called a carrier. A carrier is an organism who, like it says, carries a gene but does not showcase it. It comes up a lot in genetic illness. Dwarfism, too. Two parents can be seemingly normal and pass on a genetic illness to their offspring by being carriers of those genes on the corresponding chromosomes."-
- Tsaaq: She laughed a little. "That sounds kind of like a fun game actually." Hayley smirked and went back to writing. "Does that work with like, mental illness too?" She asked as she drew pictures on the page which surprisingly helped her remember shit and shit.
- Alexithymiaa: -He took a deep breath, pausing for a long while. "Mental illness is a whole different set of cards. Mentall illness is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain which has yet to be scientifically proven to be hereditary. Meaning they can have all the suspicions they want, but we have no real proof that mental illness is passed down from our parents."-
- Tsaaq: "Ooooohhhhh." Hayley said with her eyebrows raised. "Well that does make sense." She whispered and chewed the inside of her cheek. "Science isn't just cutting into dead stuff, I sometimes forget."
- Alexithymiaa: -He smiled, his eyes falling over her face. "Hey, cutting into dead stuff is just as much science. But a lot of science isn't as simple to find the answers to as that is."-
- Tsaaq: She started to snicker. "I like cutting into dead stuff." Hayley cooed and continued to draw on her notebook paper. Hayley went to stand up and bent down to get her textbook from her backpack and a highlighter cause study shit. "Okay so, just so I know for sure what other shit things are considered genetic illness?"
- Alexithymiaa: -He watched her bend over to get her things, snapping his attention back quickly to his notebook as he thought. "Uhh... well autism, for one. Crohn's disease. Parkinsons... hemophilia, down syndrome, color blindness, sickle cell anemia..." He trailed off, falling into silence. "There's really tons of them, I couldn't list them all."-
- Tsaaq: "I'm gonna google that shit so I can list it off the top of my head like that." Hayley said with a grin as she quickly jotted everything down. "Okay so what else do I need to know, I feel like I've missed so much but at least I'm not a dumbass or whatever, or that much of a dumbass." She muttered twirling some of her hair along her finger with her free hand.
- Alexithymiaa: "You're not stupid. You can't know what you haven't learned yet. Which is why we're going over my notes." He looked over his notes again, letting out a sigh. Can you read enough of it that you can tell me what you already know that's here?"-
- Tsaaq: She inhaled deeply before flipping through the pages. "I think so..." She said as she squinted her eyes at his notes. "Probably..." Hayley muttered then shrugged.
- Alexithymiaa: "Well it's all kind of mixed..." He paused, watching her flip through his notebook. "So ignore the classes you're not actually in with me... and if it doesn't look like its in English, it's because it probably isn't. My handwriting isn't that bad." He let out an uneasy laugh, scratching at his arm.-
- Tsaaq: Hayley took the notebook and shrugged. "I'll just text you if I have questions." She said with a smile coming onto her face. "Thanks for helping me by the way... I really do appreciate it." Hayley flipped through the pages of the textbook and closed it, too lazy to get up and put it in her backpack yet.
- Alexithymiaa: "I told you I would help you. I want you to do well in all of your classes and the fact that we have a bunch together just makes it easier for me to help you. Just..." He paused, staring into her face. "Promise me you're not going to cut any more class just to avoid me?"-
- Tsaaq: She held her gaze on Adam for a moment then lowered her head. "I promise." Hayley said softly before biting into her lower lip again. "And I'm sorry." She told him as she twirled her thumbs against each other.
- Alexithymiaa: "Thank you." He said in a small voice, closing his textbook. "It kind of hurt to know you were avoiding me, and the lengths you were going to just to do it."-
- Tsaaq: "I'm tired of hurting you. I'm tired of hurting people in general." She sighed and turned to him for a moment before hugging him. "I'm lucky you're still my friend."
- Alexithymiaa: -He leaned into her, his arms circling around her back. "I'm lucky you're still mine. I'd be really sad if I didn't have you in my life, Halo."-
- Tsaaq: She frowned and pulled away from the hug a bit. "Really?" She asked with sad eyes, feeling bad again for different reasons. She leaned her head on his shoulder and sighed. "I've really been fuckin' up." Hayley muttered.
- Alexithymiaa: -He patted her back gently. "But you're fixing everything. It's okay. And we're still friends which is better than okay. You shouldn't worry about it."-
- Tsaaq: "I'm trying not to." She sighed before hearing her cellphone vibrate in her bag. She pouted and reluctantly pulled away from the embrace a bent over once more to retrieve her cellphone. Her eyebrows furrowed as she read the text, her face turning somber. "Oh my god." She whispered.
- Alexithymiaa: -He furrowed his brows, his eyes dropping to her phone in her hand before moving back to her face. "What? What happened? What's the matter?"-
- Tsaaq: She sighed and put her phone in her cleavage. "It's Tony." Hayley muttered and put her shit in her back pack then hoisted it onto her back. "I should get home." She said with a bit of a frown. "I'm worried about him."
- Alexithymiaa: "Oh, okay." He grabbed his books and slid them off the table and into his backpack, zipping it closed and pushing up to his feet. "Did you need a ride over there?"-
- Tsaaq: "Please?" She said with a grumble and adjusted her garter straps really fast while she was standing. "I guess it'll be okay." Hayley tried to reassure herself. "I don't mean to bring you into my drama or anything." She told Adam as she headed for the door.
- Alexithymiaa: "No, it's fine. You're on the way anyway." he swung his backpack onto his back, turning to follow her out of the library. "Is he alright?"-
- Tsaaq: Hayley inhaled deeply before pouting. "If he isn't I'm going to try and make it so he is. Because it's important that he is alright." She headed down the hallway and approached the double doors, pushing them open and held one for him, shivering in the cold cause of her fuckin' outfit.
- Alexithymiaa: -He walked behind her and leaned out to push the door open so he could walk through, pulling the keys from his truck out of his pocket. "Yes. It's very important that he's alright. You'll be over there in a few minutes and you can check on him." He walked to his truck and yanked opent he passenger side door, holding it open for her.-
- Tsaaq: "Thanks Abs." She sighed and jogged towards the truck and climbed into the passenger seat. "It's good that you understand and shit." Hayley whispered and stared out the window after buckling up. "Hopefully tomorrow will be better right?" She muttered as she played with her hair aimlessly, waiting for him to drive off.
- Alexithymiaa: -He nodded his head and shut her door, walking around to the driver's side to climb up and inside the truck. He jammed the key intot he ignition to start the engine, putting it into gear and taking off out of the parking lot.-
