  1. Sugrom was born sometime within M42 on the Feral World of Zairus. Zairus was a world whose populace mostly contains ogryns, and extremely strong humans that at their most advanced don't even surpass medieval era. It came under the control of the imperium when the Death Guard fleet brought it into the imperial fold sometime in M30 after most of the human inhabitants of the planets were brutalized and enslaved by ogryns. Many of the now freed slaves happily pledged their strongest men and women to the ranks of the Death Guard, one such man being one of Sugrom's oldest ancestors, being an incredibly strong and powerful man, he would unintentionally end up shaping the destiny of his family into what they are today. Generations later, the family of Sugrom is one of elite warriors for the nation of Kelsam. Nowadays, Zairus is known for paying tithes in raw materials and personnel in the form of captured ogryns and strong men & women for various things from hive work, to conscription into the Imperial Guard, and as far as worship as the Emperor goes it is considered less law punishable by death and more actively encouraged.
  2.
  3. Fortunately, the civilization Sugrom was born into was the medieval era society of Kelsam, with access to certain equipment varying past the point of medieval society, such as stub weaponry. Sugrom grew up under nobility, being a family bloodline of proud warriors, keeping their kingdom safe from rival nations, as well as ogryn raids. As early as he could remember he had been trained, with Sugrom being unnaturally strong durable for a warrior, even by the standards of most humans on Zairus. Because of this, Sugrom could only be trained by the absolute strongest and most durable warriors Kelsam had to offer, and this is where Sugrom met his mentor: Doren, Bringer of Victory. Doren was one of the highest ranking knights of Kelsam, and one of the king's personal protectors, so powerful that legend has it he ripped an ogryn in half without assistance, Doren was capable of taking whatever Sugrom could throw at him, and as such was the perfect teacher to teach this aspiring warrior. Doren taught Sugrom basic intellectual pursuits, such as low gothic and their native language, as well as writing in their native language (but not in low gothic, as such he cannot read). He was also socially and intellectually prepared, allowing him to be a high functioning member of society (low-moderate functioning by the standards of the imperium).
  4.
  5. However, Sugrom was no scribe, and Doren taught Sugrom the Brotur Kreer, or as it is known the "Mountain Crusher", which entails using a great sword or similiar massive weapon to throw as much force into the swing as possible, while maintaining control over the blade and stance, a form that only extremely strong individuals could ever hope to master. Sugrom was taught this technique, as well as the ability to rely on his raw brute strength to see him through against nimble opponents, such as violently grappling an individual, throwing them back to compromise their stance, and smash the sword into them with extreme prejudice. Years pass, and by the time Sugrom was a grown man he had been trained well enough to serve Kelsam, fighting in battle as Doren's apprentice, he was given a mighty greatsword of simple though potent design, second-hand plate armor, and a gift from Doren: a Crone pattern Stub Revolver, a simple though effective revolver. Sugrom was known as Sugrom, the Untested Potential, causing most to think at first glance that Sugrom was inexperienced. And in reality, Sugrom was very inexperienced, not having experienced true war yet. Because of this, the legion Sugrom was transferred to was sent to combat ogryns.
  6.
  7. Ogryns were simple minded, but this served to make them exceedingly effective at brute force tactics. as such Sugrom's legion suffered serious casualties, the usual technique of refining warriors in kelsam to be to throw inexperienced soldiers into conflicts (as they had men to spare, and a superior technological advantage), and the survivors would eventually grow incredibly skilled. Sugrom simply would not have survived these times without the help of Doren, whom always made sure that Sugrom didn't bite off more then he could chew. As such, slowly and slowly Sugrom became more and more skilled, rumor being that with each enemy he killed he seemed to only grow stronger and more durable. Eventually, Sugrom would ascend in rank, and be called Sugrom, The Personification of Beasts, and given command over a group of men within the legion. Because of his incredible strength, Sugrom eventually became fluent in ogryn politics, being able to pacify ogryn threats before they even became known, and not only that, but would pull them into service of Kelsam, forming the first ever Ogryn legions.
  8.
  9. One such encounter involved Sugrom coming across an ogryn warlord known as Borshork, where Sugrom stated that if he could defeat him in single combat without weapons or armor, he would prove himself the strongest of the group, and as such would control them. Borshork agreed, because while Sugrom was incredibly strong and durable by human standards, he was still far inferior to the power of ogryns, whom are capable of surpassing the strength of space marines. In spite of this setback, Sugrom was faster, smarter, and better trained, always staying out of arms reach of the ogryn, baiting out a devastating kick from Borshork, Sugrom grabbing hte ogryn's leg and flipping him onto his back, before throwing his full weight onto the leg, shattering the ogryn's leg, after which he would circle his prey, trampling him, continuing to outpace the now crippled ogryn, until the ogryn was beaten senseless to unconsciousness. Since that point, Borshork became Sugrom's second in command, and the ogryn army would become Sugrom's personal legion. By this point, Sugrom had learned everything Doren could possibly teach him (although he had not yet mastered the techniques fully), and Doren moved on to pick up a new apprentice, Zarenek, whom would also go on to raise a mighty legion of both human and ogryn forces, and make his way towards some of the more dangerous regions of the world, places that not even someone as bold as Sugrom would ever go. In a few years time, with the diplomatic technique of ogryns discovered and exploited, what few ogryns remained that would not listened were pitted among themselves and smashed into submission, until the kingdom of Kelsam was at peace for the most part. Sugrom was fashioned a suit of armor formed from the long lost technique of ceramite forging, acquiring a suit of plate armor with carapace plating, his mighty sword being refined to have a mono-molecular blade, as well as being given a grapple gun, which he would adapt into his combat style.
  10.
  11. Years would pass, Doren retires from duty, being an old man by this point, and Sugrom replaces his position as one of the king's personal protectors, and moves on to take new apprentices. One day however, Zarenek returns, his army having captured every other nation of the planet of Zairus, as well as having learned secrets that allow his forces incredible mutations and powers, leading an attack on Kelsam. Sugrom directed his legion of ogryns, however they were absolutely demolished by the numbers and sheer potency of the power Zarenek's legion now wields. Sugrom had all he could do to retreat back to the main walls, where he was surprised to see Doren, the King: Uraen, Devotee of The God, commanding all of the other legions of warriors and ogryns, leading a horrific charge to stop Zarenek by any means necessary. In spite of their best efforts, Zarenek's warp mutated forces were simply too powerful, and shatter each legion one by one, scattering into the cities to begin burning, pillaging, and slaughtering the citizens, all the while, altars being formed, with priests of this horrific power chanting through arcane and disgusting books, it horrified Sugrom, something that scarred him for the rest of his life. Doren, Uraen, and Sugrom form up, and meet Zarenek, as well as a now corrupted and brainwashed Borshork, and a mysterious figure clad in black armor. Doren charged to meet with Zarenek, Sugrom charged to meet with Borshork, and Uraen charged to meet with the figure in black armor. In spite of Borshork's newfound resilience and strength, Sugrom simply was not playing around, and carrying an incredibly powerful sword and armor, and cleaved Borshork limb from limb, before delivering a horrific decapitation, making short work of him. The other two however were much more powerful then Borshork, and unfortunately for Doren and Uraen, much more powerful then them. In spite of Doren's best efforts, age simply caught up to him, and Zarenek heaved a mighty blow with his sword, sending Doren's flying out of his hands, before bringing his hand over for a grapple, crushing Doren's skull with complete ease. Uraen fared slightly better, the figure in armor being unable to match Uraen's martial skill, he brings his hands forward, as Uraen is exposed to a micro chasm of the warp, his body morphing into a chaos spawn, with Zarenek laughing at the horrific being, finding it to be quite funny, as the mysterious figure brings his hands to the air, summoning a portal as the figure yells "LOOK AT YOUR KING, LOOK AT WHAT HE HAS BECOME, I LEAVE YOU WITH THIS!" as he, Zarenek, and the rest of the forces vanish.
  12.
  13. From then on, Zarenek would be known as The Bane, and the damage against the city being too horrific to sustain, Sugrom puts down what was once the king, and buries Doren with his armor, taking a piece of his insignia to remember him by. Sugrom was beyond furious, taking what remains of the forces, and with the help of his fellow equals and commanders rallies the force, and begin marching for the unknown regions of the world, along the way stopping through each kingdom to pick up survivors and additional weaponry, until a considerable army is formed. Sugrom all the while continuing to refine his technique, Eventually, they reached they saw a massive glowing beam in the sky, taking their chance they make their way to this beam. When they come there, they find the fortress of Zarenek and the sorcerer, with the doors do the castle opened, and with no traps, no enemies, no sentries, so they move in. When they reach the beam, they find that all of the soldiers of Zarenek's legion have been ritually sacrificed in painstaking detail, with Zarenek in the middle, the Sorcerer fueling the ritual, Sugrom orders his men to charge, however the air begins to smell odd, as the thoughts of confusion seep into the thoughts of everyone, causing mass hysteria to form within the armies, thousands are killed in the ensuing chaos as Sugrom and several of the commanders barely manage to hold themselves together.
  14.
  15. When it is all said and done, hundreds of thousands had died, the total number equaling out to 999,999,999, a meticulous plan created by the tzeenchian sorcerer to elevate Zarenek to daemon prince, so that the sorcerer could entrap Zarenek into a soul cage, and unleash his raw power upon another world (although Sugrom knew literally none of this). Unfortunately for the sorcerer, the ritual was not complete and he was out of time, as Sugrom fires his grapnel gun, affixing itself to the sorcerer's neck and ripping him towards him, breaking his neck through the force of the pull. This causes the death toll to rise to 1,000,000, causing the ritual to become considerably disrupted as now is it out of control, but the holy numbers are now unalligned, causing warp energy to flood into Zarenek's body as well as the rest of the room indiscriminately, mutating him into a truly massive warrior, over twice the size of even an astartes, enlarging his body and thickening his skin, muscle and bone. Zarenek was far too powerful for Sugrom to beat head-on, but fortunately these mutations compromised Zarenek's stance considerably. Sugrom was not quite as lucky either, the raw warp energy mutating him, fusing his body and armor in unholy fleshmetal, but leaving him fine other then that. Sugrom brought his sword forward, and began an incredible battle for the fate of Kelsam, and the rest of the planet. Sugrom was able to stay one step ahead of Zarenek for most of the fight, but was simply unable to harm him, Sugrom's fellow commanders jumped into the fray, slowly beating down Zarenek, as well as gaining mutations of their own, but they were simply not as well trained as Sugrom and Zarenek, and were all eventually cut down.
  16.
  17. Several minutes of horrific dueling went on, Zarenek continued to mutate horrifically, sprouting additional limbs, and growing stronger, and even faster with no end to the mutations in sight as Sugrom was eventually too fatigued to continue, failing to hold his strength long enough to pull off an adequate drop parry, and having his lower half horrifically sliced in half. Sugrom would have died from that wound, had his body not closed the blood loss shut fairly quickly due to his fleshmetal. Zarenek tried to bring his sword to perform the final blow, but the mutations were so horrific that he literally could not move, his body collapsing in on itself so catastrophically by that point, that he had imploded into itself, falling back into the warp, the portal closing behind him. Sugrom passed out from shock, but by next day, his lower half had restored itself, being made entirely of alloys and ceramics with no proper machinery to speak of. Sugrom got up, and walked outside the temple. They were all dead, all of the warriors whom had pledged themselves to fight were all dead. Sugrom traveled to the other kingdoms and surviving ogryn colonies, allowing them to move in to Kelsam, where he would appoint a new king, as well as train new military personnel, and do his best to help to allow life to return to normal on the planet. It was during this time he met his wife, and started a family. After Kelsam had recovered, with the world now (ironically) at peace, Sugrom retired to a little home in a quiet part of the forest.
  18.
  19. Sugrom's story does not end here however, and he was destined for greater fates. An inquisitor had detected this warp incursion that was seemingly stopped by the populace, and decided to do a bit of digging for details, such an occurrence being extremely unlikely. When the inquisitor figured the full story out, he decided Sugrom would make for an adequite inquisitorial agent, and pulled a few strings, and one night, Sugrom was kidnapped in his own home, disappearing off the face of the planet. Sugrom woke up, he found two remembrancers, a tech-priest, an arbites, an inquisitorial assassin, a guardswoman and a psyker all bound to their chairs. Sugrom was furious, confused, and angry, but eventually fell asleep again after his screaming proved for naught. He woke up again to find they were being escorted off the ship by inquisitorial stormtroopers. There, he met with the inquisitor, whom explained that the acolytes, as well as Sugrom officially no longer exist within the imperium of man. The inquisitor did not introduce himself or make any attempt to, or give any details to the mission beyond reports of "heresy", and that if they refused he would detonate internal explosives that he had inexplicably placed inside of them. On that note he returned everybody's equipment (including Sugrom's) and sent them on their way on their own ship, piloted by a barely trained ratling. When they reached the planet, they were issued a VOX radio, as well as the information that the inquisitorial stormtroopers would also be making planetfall. Before they could make any progress, another ship lands, throwing out a sororitas that was thrown out of her order, whom unknown to the group, was a blank. This caused something of an internal conflict as the group came incredible close fo starting a fight with this person they did not like or understand, but eventually made their way after an incredibly brave PDF soldier told them to move along. During the route they introduced themselves, the Psyker was named Zanek, the guardswoman was Elena, the Mechanicus was named August, the Arbites was named Pilus, the scribes were Samuel and Austine, and finally Azuhrius the inquisitorial assassin. The sororitas did not give her name by this point, however it would later be found out her name was Marina.
  20.
  21. They decided it would be their best bet to go for the forest, where they encountered a large group of half naked cultists whom charged the group with knives. The acolyte group made incredibly short work of them, Sugrom not even bothering with killing one as he grabs him, and rips the weapon out of his hand, deciding it may be more useful to extract information from him. Sugrom was not entirely accustomed to the act of interrogating cultists however, and when he tried breaking one of his fingers for more information, the cultist was put in incredible levels of pleasure. Sugrom was out of ideas, when August the techpriest interjected that he would be capable of severing the ability for the cultist to feel anything. Horrified by this revelation, the cultist spills his guts in exchange for a horrific death, informing the group that the cultist's base is located underground in the sewers, and that there may be more bases like it. Sugrom and the other acolytes are satisfied with the answer, so Sugrom breaks every bone in his body, one bone at a time, granting him his horrific death, the cultist entering a state of bliss before death. The acolyte group moves on until they come across a nice wood & stone house. Sugrom is the first to open the door, calling out to anybody inside, assuming a more friendly attitude just in case he was breaking & entering. Sugrom kept going until he moved to the second floor bedroom, where he came across a horrific sight: A husband, wife, and daughter found skinned, with chaos runes and their skin stretched and strewn about the place.
  22.
  23. This had been Sugrom's first official introduction to the dealings of chaos worshipers, the sight reminding him of Zarenek's foul ways. It threw Sugrom into a frenzy, throwing the objects out of the window, and burning them with the help of Marina. After the rest of the rooms were cleared, they found a strange sword, Zanek picked up the sword, appearing vaguely familiar with it. He used his training in malefic daemonology to siphon the daemon into himself, but before he could do so completely, Sugrom was having none of this, having just seen what chaos meant to the rest of humanity, swinging his sword with all of his might, but it was not enough, only causing severe aesthetic damage. It did at the very least halt the ritual, and force Marina, Zanek, and Sugrom to fight each other, while the inquisitor hears reports of fighting, and in spite of the group's attempts to persuade him otherwise, he dispatches the ISTs to see what is going on. When the ISTs arrived, the group was shocked to find out that these stormtroopers were actually heretics as well, with chaos iconography attached to them, the group begins a horrific shootout with the stormtroopers outmanning and outgunning them considerably. Fortunately, the acolytes had the advantage of cover, while Sugrom continued to fight Zanek to a standstill alongside Marina. The acolytes yell for Sugrom to come help, and Sugrom responds, ducking out of the fight, narrowly avoiding the crossfire as he runs in, smashing into an inquisitorial stormtrooper with a mighty blow, swinging several more times (along with the other acolytes) before the stormtrooper is violently dismembered. When Sugrom returns, Zanek and marina are gone, but presumably still fighting. Sugrom gets the inquisitor on VOX, informing him of the current situation, and the inquisitor demands the capture of the now daemonhost, MUCH to the disliking of the group and Sugrom.
  24.
  25. Sugrom searches frantically around, looking for Marina and Zanek, meanwhile Zanek finally gets the upper hand over Marina, however as he pressed on to try to make a deathblow, Marina gathers a second wind, holding back the daemonhost for a little longer, as Sugrom finally reaches Zanek, demanding him to cease and allow himself to be captured. Zanek humored the thought, causing the khornate daemon inside of him to revolt, the ensuing conflict causing Zanek's body to explode, with the bloodletter dragging his soul into the warp, a mighty prize for khorne. Surprisingly, the weapon survives the excursion, Sugrom picking up the now purged blade for possible use later as a consolation prize. The inquisitor dispatches a ship with supplies and a medic to tend to the group's wounds, having sustained serious injuries but incredibly no fatalities. After that, they rest for the rest of the day. When they awake, the inquisitor orders the group to put on a disguise, and attend a high class imperial festival to gather intelligence, or he would detonate the bombs. Sugrom overslept, so the group had to put his clothes over his armor, and drag him into a limo that the inquisitor had pulled some strings to acquire. Afterwards, they were headed to their mission. They traveled by limo for days, the group of acolytes casually chatting along, Sugrom learning a lot about his friends. Finally, the limo stops, having run out of fuel, Sugrom pulls open the window to the driver's seat to reveal it to be servitor controlled, the techpriest identifying it as a potent haywire field that had driven the servitor erratic. Sugrom and the rest of the acolytes pry open the limo doors to find themselves far out of the city of the agri world in a massive forest. They had not received transmissions (or had their internal bombs activated) because the haywire field had permanently shorted out their radios and bombs. Although it took them days to reach their location by car, by foot it took them months, fighting all kinds of flora and fauna. By the time they got to the city again, martial law had been declared, curfews were being strictly enforced, and the worshipers of chaos held a tight chokehold over the planet, having given up from hiding and taken over most of the government. Every area bar the few that were being desperately held by fractured PDF and ISTs were scenes of debauchery, disease, espionage, and slaughter.
  26.
  27. None of the acolytes could stand for it. Sugrom had learned fully of the Emperor from the words of the sororitas, whom although disgusted by Sigrom's existence as a mutant, tolerated his conviction and his faith in the Emperor, and among themselves they had seen friends for the first time in quite a long time. They needed to do something, so they decided to sneak inside of the now corrupted planetary governor's building in the middle of the night, and after dealing with rogue IST and PDF bodyguards, they gun the governor down. After which point, they sneak out of the building, leaving an anonymous tip for the few loyalist installations left, making a push for the capital building to fortify. Unfortunately, during the time the acolytes had been moving back to the city, the inquisitor had sent his report to the high lords, and with the collaboration of fellow inquisitors and the high lords of Terra, it was deemed that the planet was lost, and that exterminatus was the only chance left, with resources stretched too thin to send astartes or imperial guard support. Luckily, the acolytes catch word of this, and although they are furious to the fact that they were just beginning to make headway against the cultists, they realize that they are not going to be able to beat the cultists & the inquisitor, not here. As such, the inquisitor's forces began to pull back, with the acolytes disguising themselves as ISTs to escape the planet. Sugrom however was incapable of escaping through this method as his armor was fused to him, so instead of escaping through that method, Sugrom tried bartering the inquisitor's favor with the rune blade, the radicalist side of the inquisitor being lulled out, the inquisitor accepts the bargain, allowing Sugrom passage off the planet. Once they reach the inquisitor's flagship, the orbital bombardment begins, with the planet being bombarded by cyclonic torpedoes. In a few hours, the planet was left entirely devoid of life, Sugrom & the other acolytes began moving on their plan, but not before stopping by the armory to each take multiple pict recorders, the techpriest installing them into a room that they knew the inquisitor would likely meet Sugrom in, the techpriest also repaired the VOX device, and through coaxing the machine spirit was able to extract and record every transmission that they received and broadcasted to the inquisitor. As far as the inquisitor knew, Sugrom was the only survivor.
  28.
  29. After that, the transmissions, as well as coordinates to where the inquisitor was headed were sent to the cannoness, whom Marina had gained contact with during her brief time on the planet thanks to the inquisitor having given her the cannoness' VOX channel during their brief stay on the planet. Eventually, the inquisitor had lost his patience and decided to head to Sugrom, Sugrom heading to the neutral room with the VOX caster rigged to the communications tower, sending the transmission to the cannoness, whom had the forethought to use her sphere of influence to contact the rest of the inquisitors she had known, never liking the inquisitor due to his radicalist behavior but never having any proof until now. The inquisitor entered the room with a group of ISTs, Sugrom offered the rune blade, as well as a debrief on their account of what had occurred on the planet. The inquisitor makes no attempt to bluff Sugrom, not under any sense of danger and still thinking he has all the cards, he exclaims how he had done a terrible job, and honestly should be dead from the detonation of the bomb. The Inquisitor informed him that he was not going back to his home planet, and that in truth they are headed to some forgotten part of the galaxy in the halo stars, never to be seen again. Unfortunately, the voidship stops prematurely (upon orders of much superior inquisitors) to find that the flagship is surrounded by inquisitorial fleets, as well as multiple orders of the Adeptus Sororitas, demanding the surrender of the inquisitor. The Inquisitor attempts to draw his archeotech pistol but he is quickly disarmed by his own ISTs, who are revealed to be Sugrom's own acolytes whom he had been working with. By the time the Sisters of Battle and the inquisition entered the fray, the situation had already been pacified, as the ISTs refused to stop them, and the inquisitor was already being restrained, with notable wounds inflicted by blunt force trauma.
  30.
  31. The rest of the ship and the acolytes were taken, and given purity tests to determine how tainted they were by the warp. Everybody passed with flying colors, except for Sugrom. In spite of this, Sugrom was allowed to live because although he had been tainted during his time alive, his soul still "radiates with benevolent energy, and love for the Emperor", to quote the excuse one of the inquisitors had used to avoid angering the rest of the acolytes, as well as seeing Sugrom as too useful of an asset to let die. As such, everybody except Sugrom was let go with new identities except for Marina whom remained an inquisitorial operative due to her order's clear disliking of her blank nature.
  32.
  33. Sugrom was taken to the pleasure world of Reth, where his record as an inquisitorial asset is scrubbed for the most part, including any details of his first mission due to the fact that it would look bad on records, (his pre-life background had already been scrubbed by the radicalist inquisitor) and would be constantly watched and monitored within a facility of inquisitorial custody staffed by sororitas. They let Sugrom keep his weapons, only because they knew he would cause little trouble, and because he enjoyed his temporary retirement. Sugrom remained there, being kept well cared for, although occasionally sparring with ISTs and sororitas under monitored conditions. Sugrom would remain in this facility for a fairly long time.
  34.
  35. Sugrom would be re-activated as an asset however, when he receives a call to action by yet another inquisitor...
