- Last night I visited my 69 year old mother in the hospital for what we suspected was a heart attack (she wanted me to stay the night because she didn't want to be alone, she was scared), and due to a long and depressing story about our finances, I couldn't afford a cab or Uber, and it was already past 9 PM so I wasn't sure how well busses would run, so I decided to bike there, which is at least 3 miles. Upon arrival, sweaty and miserable, I looked for a bike rack, but I couldn't find one anywhere. Annoyed, I locked my bike to a small palm tree and went to keep my mother company.
- The following morning, not even 9:30 AM, I returned to find my bike missing. I went to the front desk to ask what happened and was informed security had saw fit to destroy my $40 bike lock and lock away my bike the other side of the hospital.
- This is unacceptable. Please see that I am paid for the damage your security guards have caused. There were no signs or warnings that bicycles could not be locked to trees, and I wouldn't have been forced to lock it there had you provided bike racks anywhere near the entrance. The security guard told me there were bike racks --- halfway across the medical complex.
- Thank you.
