  1. Comments/Discussions and Rankings
  2. I notice blog posts with several "legit comments" (big discussion type) tend to rank higher.

  13. +++++++++++++++
  14. Google employees also have confirmed it
  15. theoretically, if we faked legit comments (100s - like you see in big authority sites), shouldn't we see a boost in rankings?
  16.
  17. Technically speaking there is no way, Google can differentiate between legit comments and "legit looking" comments. (given that you are not using google analytics - in which case Google can guess how the f, this blog has a ton of comments without any visits)
  18.
  19. Now my question is:
  20. Has anyone here tried this?
  21. I don't see why it wouldn't work.
  22. Anybody care to prove me wrong?
  23. The comments could help, and a lot if done properly. You can spam thousands of comments but it will not make a difference, but if you make even fake "conversations", it will become almost as an extension to the article and will work as Q&A.
  24.
  25. So my opinion is that - don't spam useless conversations, but take your time and add interesting questions at a comment and long answers (at least 50 words). Then it will make a difference. And you should do that from different accounts and IP's etc. The whole package.
  26. That's what I meant by "discussion type comments". Obviously not going to post, one word "Thank you", "great information" comments.
  27. And you should do that from different accounts and IP's etc
  28. Haha.. Tell me one reason why do y0u think it is necessary.
  29. Google does not have access to our server. They definitely cannot check for IP addresses of people who post comments.
  30. I do think it does know :) But anyway, it's just to be sure. Otherwise, this hella time taking job would be for nothing.
  31. But there is only one way to be sure - test it out. Make a case study.
  32. Could be a good new service for someone to create or get a bunch of people to comment on each others.
  33. IMO, I think it is overkill if we are going to add another plugin for this. Carefully doing this manually is the way to go.
  34. Yea I agree. AS it would be weird if for every posts there would be almost the same style conversation :D
  35. But actually, I'm gonna try this. I'll make to my main post a ~10 level deep conversation and will see what happens. Right now the keyword is 20place, hard diff.
  36. I am planning on doing this as well. Keep us updated of your results. :D

  39. If you have Analytics enabled, it would be fairly trivial to match up the timestamps of the comments to the "commenting" IPs.
  40.
  41. If you don't use any third-party APIs, there should theoretically be zero risk doing it all from the same IP.

  53. Fair enough, but there are other APIs that make calls to Google servers as well, it's only Analytics that's open about the data collection.
