History - Lydia, then Teresa Escalera, was born in 1408 in Spain. Her parents were supporters of the teaching of Ferrand Martínez

She grew up in the strict doctrines of the Church. She was devout. In 1443 there was a small problem with the family vineyard. Others had similar problems, but Lydia's family managed a good enough crop to make it through... Their business "rivals" were jealous... Suspicious. Finally accusations were leveled on her family. They were accused of witchcraft... Before the nearby people acted on it, Lydia's extended family sent her and her husband away to avoid the worst of it...

Over the next year, her and her husband ran. They dodged who they could, but the accusations chased them. Eventually her husband was caught while protecting her.

She saw his execution... Destitute and Broken. Lydia was found by an Itallian man during the night. She saw his eyes... His fangs... She dared him to do it. She stood up to him... As broken as she was, she still had spirit.

It was a trait this Vampire found interesting. He took her in, protected her as only one such as he could. He showed her the fallacies of the church, of people. Over the next year she was taught many things about how the world really worked.

Then he offered her a choice.

She chose the Night, and never looked back.
