  1. General
  2. -------
  3. - Needs unofficial patch and additional software to run on modern PCs. -> https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Gex:_Enter_the_Gecko
  4. - Controller support is pretty limited. XBox controllers are recognized but you need either a separate program or to run the game through Steam to map the DPad and the triggers.
  5. - Music only plays with additional software (_inmm.dll) or when using the physical disc.
  6. - No dynamic music transitions, less music tracks, no jingles for deaths, collectible rewards, etc.
  7. - Some buggy sound effects (sfx volume peaking, becoming quiet, cutting out or not playing at all).
  8. - FMV cutscene audio is desynched in the NTSC version.
  9. - Near-instant loading times.
  10. - Consistent framerate (30fps) = no lag.
  11. - Turning off voices allows Gex to instantly enter TVs even though the quote is still playing.
  12. - The game seems a lot less stable than PS1 and can crash on several occasions, including but not limited to: getting hit by certain enemies/obstacles, using the fly powerups to burn/freeze enemies, attempting to wrong warp.
  13.
  14. Routing/Strats
  15. --------------
  16. - Wrong warps don't work, at least with the known PS1 setups. Therefore, the old PS1 warpless routes are used.
  17. - Most TV cancels are useless in Any% due to the instant loads and the option to disable voices.
  18. - No lag reduction strats required.
  19. - Lion head skip is patched (invisible wall in front of the closed mouth).
  20. - The ledge-grab spot next to the blue gate is not the same, causing blue gate skip to require different coordinates (with the PS1 setup, it would be GEXX 332 instead of GEXX 331, also turning via tail whip moves you 3 units to the left instead of 4 in this case). On the other hand, red gate skip works exactly the same as on PS1.
  21. - Many camera-based cycles trigger earlier compared to PS1, e.g. the rotating platforms at the end of The Umpire Strikes Out.
  22. - The camera on Gexzilla vs. Mecharez is zoomed in closer and the small buildings with a flat top only take 2 hits instead of 3.
  23. - The ledge next to the clock in Smellraiser's first room is taller, but can still be tail bounced onto from a different spot.
  24. - The area around the pool in Samurai Night Fever has been fixed (karate kicks automatically get cancelled there on PS1).
  25. - Crushing zombies with a chandelier doesn't drop collectibles.
  26. - The spawn animation can't be cancelled with Start/Esc and holding Start/Esc at the beginning of boss fights doesn't allow you to move immediately.
  27. - Rez's laser attack doesn't last as long, giving you less time to reach the buttons.
