  6. [23:00] <@Bash> [As should be obvious from the room name, you are heading to Emmara's spire to see what's up. She's said she's feeling sick recently, and you are understandably worried. You sent a message a bit ago about coming over, so you gatehop to her land and start picking your way to her regular quarters. Native Life player getting sick, something about that feels off to you, but you're not sure

  8. 04[23:04] <Emmara> [You heard the message ping in your sylladex, but you don't answer it right away. You're almost dozing in your bathtub right now, but its clear you're not quite feeling up to par. Your face is pale and you've got a cold sweat, even with the warm water.]

  10. [23:12] <@Bash> [You don't get a message back, so you're going to assume she's sleeping or otherwise occupied, but you'll do a quick check to see. Bedroom? Empty. You do see the bathroom door closed though, so you send another message- "okay so I'm not just gonna barge in on you if you're taking a bath, but I'll go wait in the living room." You do, of course, then head to the living room.]
  11. 04[23:16] <Emmara> [The second ping makes you bring your ears out of the water, and you can hear someone shuffling around outside. You're guessing its Sci-fi, but you check your messages just to be sure. After seeing that it is him you start to make yourself get out. You eventually come out of the bathroom with a robe on, still using a crutch to move around inside the house. "Hey." You say a little weakly, and your appearance isn't really helped by the fact you look like a wet dog at the moment.]

  13. [23:24] <@Bash> ["Wow, you look like you just took a ride on the worst log flume ever invented." You give her a bit of a smile but your brow makes it pretty clear you're worried. "Sick, huh?"]
  14. 04[23:25] <Emmara> ["Yeah." You hobble over and sit down beside him, pulling out a brush and getting to work on your hair.]

  20. 04[23:36] <Emmara> [You shake your head inbetween brush strokes. "My immune systems going haywire on...something. Thats what the symptoms seem like, but what that 'thing' is? I've got nothing."]
  21. [23:39] <Bash> ["That's weird... I don't think there's any game illness like that. Well, most of the 'illnesses' aren't really even illnesses, so..." you end up chinhandanding and stare at her intently.

  23. 04[23:41] <Emmara> ["If I were Life I could tell you what it is, but as it is?" You shrug. "Not a doctor."]
  24. [23:43] <Bash> ["You are at least 90% more doctor than I am, though. ...probably closer to 95? Anyway, do we not have the stuff to treat the symptoms?" You muse for a moment. "What are the symptoms, anyway?"]
  25. 04[23:47] <Emmara> ["The symptoms are all my immune system doing something. Except for maybe some sensetivity around my stomach and crotch. Its my body going into overdrive trying to fight whatever sickness there is off. Sort of like how a fever is your body fighting something off most of the time."]
  26. [23:52] <Bash> ["So basically the symptoms are only there because your body's doing the right thing, and we can't really treat it?" You think that's what that means. As previously stated, you are very not doctor.]
  27. 04[23:54] <Emmara> ["Essentially, yes." You finish with the brush and pull out an elastic from your sylladex to pull up your hair in a ponytail. "Body tends to be pretty good at handling things."]
  28. [23:57] <Bash> [You sigh. "Well, I guess that's a good thing."]

  30. 04[00:01] <Emmara> ["Assuming it wins. Its been a few weeks at this point and its...worrying." It shouldn't take this long.]
  31. [00:04] <Bash> [Mmmh. If your dreamself's having the same problem, maybe see a doctor on Derse? ...actually, that might be worse than doing nothing."]
  32. 04[00:05] <Emmara> [You shake your head. "Nothing on her. So I guess if worse comes to worse I can always revive into my dreamself. But I'd rather not if I can help it."]
  33. [00:07] <Bash> [You lean back and rub at your temples. "Well, fun."]
  34. 04[00:11] <Emmara> [You rub the nearest shoulder. "I'll live, one way or the other." You try and give an encouraging smile, but you only half succeed. "Going to take more than a disease to keep me down."]
  35. [00:12] <Bash> ["Yeah, I know, you're hardy as hell." You slump toward her and bump your head at hers. "Just worried, that's all."]
  36. 04[00:15] <Emmara> [You bump back, skin cold to the touch. "I know." You say quietly. Closing your eyes and leaning against him. "Shouldn't do that too much, might go grey." You say, chuckling a little before you start coughing.]
  37. [00:16] <Bash> [You wrap your arms around her in some attempt to share your warmth. "I'll just dye it blue if that happens, and complete my transition to 'anime mage stereotype'"]
  38. 04[00:18] <Emmara> ["You should do it anyways."]
  39. [00:20] <Bash> ["Maybe I will." ...you are now actually considering that. Goddamn it.]
  40. 04[00:23] <Emmara> ["I can help!" You say brightly before coughing again.]
  41. [00:24] <Bash> [You give her a concerned look at the coughing. "Don't push yourself, and I'll think about it."]
  42. 04[00:26] <Emmara> ["Have to get something done." You say sullenly once the coughing subsumes.]
  43. [00:27] <Bash> ["Yes, but at least let me come with you to make sure things are okay?"]
  44. 04[00:29] <Emmara> [You roll your eyes. "Sure thing." Pause. "Dad."]
  45. [00:30] <Bash> ["I had to basically build you a floating wheelchair, so I think that makes you Grandma."]
  46. 04[00:31] <Emmara> ["Broken leg?" You lift up your still cast'd leg up]
  47. [00:31] <Bash> [You make a shushing noise. "Just let me have my delusions."]
  48. 04[00:32] <Emmara> ["You can have 'em. Just can't call me Grandma."]
  49. [00:33] <Bash> ["Then you can't call me Dad. Fair?"]
  50. 04[00:34] <Emmara> ["Can call you it you're acting like it."]
  51. [00:35] <Bash> [Your face grumps a bit.]

  54. 04[00:40] <Emmara> ["I am saying so." You say a little heatedly.]
  55. [00:41] <Bash> [You stay quiet and just hug her tight.]
  56. 04[00:43] <Emmara> [You watch him carefully to see if he'll say anything more, but hug back all the same.]
  57. [00:45] <Bash> [After a bit of silence: "...sorry, I just don't particularly feel like letting you go out and then having me do something stupid again."]
  58. 04[00:48] <Emmara> [You sigh and hug him a little tighter. "I get that. And its sweet you care that much, but you're getting a little over protective."]
  59. [00:52] <Bash> ["Yeah, I probably am, aren't I? ...guh, now I've gone too far the other direction." You lean back and sigh. "Sorry, I'll try to worry a bit less."]
  60. 04[00:56] <Emmara> ["Worrying is fine, its nice to have someone worry about you. Means you care." You kiss his cheek. "You can give a little faith though too."]
  61. [00:57] <Bash> [Ops makes a mental note to have Bash role Fate. Future Ops subsequently forgets this. "I think I can do that."]
  62. 04[01:00] <Emmara> ["Thank you." You snuggle up against him again.]
  63. [01:01] <Bash> [You relax yourself and let out a breath before snuggling close to her. "So I had an idea the other day."]

  65. [01:08] <Bash> ["I was thinking... that IRC has to have a server or something somewhere, right? Well, basically, I started thinking about maybe... Trying to figure out how to build some kind of server for people to store things or host little webpages on? I dunno, I'm not really sure I could actually do it?]
  66. 04[01:11] <Emmara> [You nod slowly at the start. "How'd you transmit it is probably the biggest question? That and uptime. Unless you're going to deal for it, in which case I will slap you for being stupid."]
  67. [01:15] <Bash> ["Well, I figured I'd just work backwards from how the IRC seems to work, and test it." You do bite your lip when she mentions you getting a Deal, because you had considered that. "I dunno. I'm trying to build a prototype anyway just for ARC, but thinking about managing the server space, I sort of realized halfway doing it that I was building another AI to manage the server? Y'know, the
  68. [01:15] <Bash> one I wasn't even sure was going to work ever." You frown at yourself.]
  69. 04[01:19] <Emmara> ["...and?" You prompt. Figuring theres more to this.]
  70. [01:21] <Bash> ["And I now have a finished AI personality that I don't know what to do with. I suppose I could just never turn her on, but that seems... wrong to me, somehow."]
  71. 04[01:24] <Emmara> ["Don't you already have a couple operating already? Alpha and Beta?"]
  72. [01:26] <Bash> ["I don't think having four thought processes running in a body is really a good idea. Maybe if I was Rain. But even then, there's also the fact that I wouldn't really have anything for her to /do/ in my body." You rub at your head. "Sorry, this probably sounds stupid."]
  73. 04[01:29] <Emmara> ["Its something I don't really know anything about." You rub his back. "What do you want to do?"]
  74. [01:31] <Bash> ["I... kind of want to wake her up somehow, but somehow putting her in a computer feels... well, it feels like I'd be putting her in a box. But I can't put her in my body, and I don't really... know what else there is to do? Be the Smith and build a whole new body or something?"]
  75. 04[01:34] <Emmara> ["You do recall what we said about not having kids, right?"]
  76. [01:38] <Bash> [You stick out your tongue. "Yeah, I do, but I don't know if an AI counts as a child." You think about it. "Yeah, okay, she'd probably count as a child."]
  77. 04[01:39] <Emmara> ["She?" You raise an eyebrow.]
  78. [01:42] <Bash> ["Er. So, part of the thing with AI personality cores, or at least the ones I have, is that they tend to sort of develop gender on their own. Alpha's male, Beta's neuter, I'm-" You stop yourself and shake your head. She already has plenty of knowledge about what gender you are. "Delta ended up being female. There's some degree of creator bias, but... yeah."]
  79. 04[01:42] <Emmara> ["Develop on their own? So its already running?" Your eyebrow continues being firmly raised.]
  80. [01:47] <Bash> [Eyebrow game too strong. "Well, only in the sense that she is basically in the AI equivilant of a coma. No input or output, but she also hasn't ever been woken up. Or... born, maybe? I don't know, the ethics regarding AIs in my homeworld were clearly not exactly well defined."]
  81. 04[01:49] <Emmara> ["Mmm." You end up just shaking your head slowly.]
  82. [01:50] <Bash> [You hang your head.]
  83. 04[01:52] <Emmara> ["So, what, you're going to built them a body?"]
  84. [01:56] <Bash> ["Honestly I have no idea." You are, however, considering it. "How does one even build a body?" <The same way you built a floaty-chariot thing. Maybe with less prototypes phasing through walls though.>]

  89. [02:01] <Bash> ["Not really." You sigh and decide to just curl up around her. "I'll think about it."]
  90. 04[02:03] <Emmara> [You cough into the crook of your arm before pressing against him too. "Alright. But you have to give them a better name than Delta."]
  91. [02:05] <Bash> ["But... that's the whole theme!" You pout a bit, you like your naming scheme :c "But I guess if you come up with a better name for her, I'll change it."]
  92. 04[02:09] <Emmara> [You hum as you rub his back. "How about Thalia?"]
  93. [02:11] <Bash> [You hmm aloud. "That is actually a very pretty name. Does it mean something specific?"]
  94. 04[02:13] <Emmara> ["To flourish, or flourishing." You sigh and let you arm drop and lean against him again, tired.]
  95. [02:17] <Bash> [You pull her close. "Poetic choice, there. You look tired though, do you need to get some sleep?"]
  96. 04[02:18] <Emmara> ["Sleep? Me? When I'm sick? Nooo."]
  97. [02:19] <Bash> ["Well, at least your sarcasm's working." You smile a bit and kiss her on the cheek. "Would you like me to carry you or would that be insulting?"]
  98. 04[02:20] <Emmara> ["Mmm. I'll allow it."]
  99. [02:22] <Bash> [You gently pick her up and cart her to her bed.]
