- Description: Walker, who ran a service station that was next door to the bank that Ray was vice president of, asked Griffin, a new hire at his business, to help him "rob and kill a rich White man". Walker knocked on the door to Gresham’s home and attacked Ray, stabbing him 12 times in the chest and back, before dragging him to the side of the house to die. Griffin found Ray’s wallet and house keys and handed them to Walker, who said he had “one more to kill”. Ray’s wife Roberta locked the door with chain and foot locks, before Ray’s daughter yelled that she had a gun. The pair fled on bicycles and were arrested hours later.
