  1. The past couple of days we from Staff have been looking into a timing method and categories for the Sekiro leaderboards and we can gathered some info for a concept on how we think these should be handled best. Please read this thoroughly and we can discuss this further in #general or in #category-discussion which I will open afterwards.
  2.
  3. ``Timing Methods``
  4. Timing Method for PC: RTA No Load
  5. Timing Method for console: IGT
  6.
  7. We tested IGT and it seems like it is as bad as it is in Dark Souls III. The in game timer is an integer of milliseconds, the game can't count fractions of a millisecond. Instead it will take the current frame time, round down to the next lower millisecond and add that to the timer. It's the same implementation as in DS3 so you can expect the same loss in IGT when you drop frames. Meaning its really bad for consistency for the runs on PC. RTA No Load can solve this by mimicking IGT behavior as best as possible but without the trouble of losing time in IGT because of lost FPS.
  8.
  9. RTA No Load would work like this:
  10. - Pause on loading screens to nullify advantages gained by certain hardware. f.e. (M.2) SSD's that speed up loading times.
  11. - Pause on the Main Menu to mimic IGT behavior in which IGT would normally stop as well. There will be an additional rule on taking no breaks if quit outs to the Main Menu were to occur during runs in which the expectance is this is not gonna happen for now but still a good countermeasure.
  12. - Note that the timer does continue when a player would access the Pause Menu/Inventory of the game
  13.
  14. Console would still be bound to IGT submissions since RTA for console is a bad timing method.
  15.
  16. ``Categories``
  17. Any% (Shura) - Beat the game as fast as possible by triggering the Shura ending (Obey Owl, Beat Emma and Isshin)
  18. Any% (Immortal Severance) - Beat the game as fast as possible by triggering the Immortal Severance ending (Beat Owl, continue the game and beat Isshin)
  19. All Remnants - Obtain all Remnants in the game.
  20.
  21. I will open #category-discussion for discussing categories but you can discuss timing method related stuff in #general
