  2. “IN WHICH I FUCK UP” - CRYPT
  3.
  4. Rant:
  5. Basically, I feel like the manager team is *way too* inefficient right now. As in, practically worse than if we ran the project with no managers at all. Recently people have been getting less and less responsive. I get that it’s the summer and all, but it's a nightmare trying to get people in the mod squad to help out. People do a bad job of taking initiative or responsibility. The managers generally say “hey look, we need to do this” and then sit around waiting for someone else to do it, which usually takes a long time to happen.

  7. I was fine with it for a while but since vol 9’s release I’ve gotten increasingly worried about this. Just recently, we did the new application cycle. Which, as far as I can tell, I’ve been running ENTIRELY on my own, with no help from the other managers, outside of voting y and moving on with their lives. I posted a question about reviewing applications in modchat the other day and came back the next day with no response. Then, just to make it as easy and accessible as possible to give others the opportunity to help (as well as to convince myself i wasnt the only one working on it) I made a google doc with links to all the applications to cut out the middle man. I labeled it as important, and it’s been over 24 as of writing. And nobody touched it. Only one person as far as I can tell even glanced at the doc (I think it was you).
  8. Similarly, when john told everyone he fixed the tracks, I purposely waited til the next day to see if anyone would just *say something* about it. Nope. I made a comment saying it should be done, and attempted to find out how long it would be before someone would fix it because I knew nobody actually cared about doing anything. But by this evening I ended up doing it anyways because people started complaining. I got better help testing the link from team_gen than mods_sekret, which is a normal thing. I don’t want to rely on it, because the managers are worse at managing than the people who are not managers.
I got GH2 planning off the ground by shoving my proposed tracklist in your faces and then organized the tracklist in the end too. Towards the release I ended up compromising my college visits just so that I could check through art and organization because nobody else bothered. That reminds me: I’m always first to make the tracklists, since January, with the only exception in mind being 9’s track order (i did the majority of the judging and initial tracklist formation though). And I get it’s not the managers’ responsibility to be faster than me, and that just because they aren’t as unhealthily obsessed with this team doesn’t mean they are worse at being managers, but when we’ve consistently made haphazard, rushed releases every month, I think it could be another factor to look at.
  9. I don’t want to do all these things anymore. It sucks to do all this shit and have makin ask what I have done for this release, and then go on to shove a bunch of other responsibilities onto me. I’d be happy to do it if other people actually cared, but of course that isn’t always the case. This constant radio silence is *embarrassing* for me.

  11. Okay now to destroy my career by yelling at everyone:
  12. Hadron is a cool dude, okay. He's not a cool manager to me. I guess the bandcamp reskin and train stuff might justify it but for the past 6 months he's been mostly absent in manager discussions. He is so good at what he does, but what he does doesn't include manager duties. I thought that was one of the criteria for managership, right? Regardless of the quality of your craft, you have to do a good job at actually being a manager. And don't think hadron does that. He's *still* using manager powers behind our backs even after we told him not to upload random things on the accounts (see: more recently, posting the sonic and knuckles mix and removing formation from the bandcamp). Even outside of being a manager, he doesn't really interact with the team. He's very distant. I pinged him for a couple days before he finally said that he would contribute to gh2 as per my request and make a gh2 tracklist for voting (This was the only thing I asked of him because I knew anything else would be too much, as makin found out when he asked for lettering help on the album art). He never made the tracklist.
  13. Felix is not a good manager, and I’m mad to say that because I feel bad for him a lot. Over the course of this release, he repeatedly told us he would do things only to delay time and time again. He ended up not doing anything. Afterwards he came back and yelled at us; when questioned, he cited his lack of time as due to parents yelling and stress and SATs, but he’s clearly been spending hours in #gaming or #alt-gen casually talking about splatoon or anime. It’s his own fault for not prioritizing manager duties. Also, the whole thing where he decided that the bad release was all our fault and not his is a really bad example of collaboration skills; he shouldn’t be running away from responsibility like that.
  14. ost could do more but they get a pass because of owo. Otherwise, they’re splitting their attention between all their other manager duties and here and as such they really aren’t doing much more than voting. Sorry ost i still like you don’t worry
  15. If I’m pointing fingers though I might as well say I think wheals does the best job about managering. I almost feel guilty about letting him do work because he never complains about anything. As I’m writing this he’s doing multiple fixes on his own to the youtube, or at least contacting people to make it known. I think you do a good enough job too. You’re not always in the conversation but you’re always available when needed, and you help drive things forward constructively. Makin also does a good deal but his problem is that he always waits until two days before the release to show up, and then he yells at everyone and calls them “fucking idiots” or whatever as if it isn’t his fault as well. (Makin: “also who cares about BAGWC?”)
  16. Anyone else I didn’t mention I’m mostly okay with. But obviously I think everyone can improve. Oh, and as for myself, I’m lazy too, but I really do think I am the Best Manager except for maybe wheals. That shouldn’t be the case. Clearly other people in the squad have similar skills.
  17. Hire Xeno. He’s gone out of his way for the service of the team (basically running the youtube channel, filming presumably hours of IRL content for the sake of dumb trailers, being active in discussion, etc) and is good at what he does. Keeping up with the channel for months on end is no easy feat. Or maybe it is. Either way he’s reliable.
  18. Finally since I’m on a roll, fuck yaz for holding a grudge against me and being petty about it (haha i’m definitely not acting the same way towards him) and make daddy a manager
  19.
  20. Sorry if i’m sounding overly cookie-aggressive, i just felt like i should speak up about my feelings. This is probably a temporary issue or something and I’m completely wrong and merely salty, but, at the very least, I think there are some take-aways from this whole fiasco.
  21. ~~~In summary: managers are bad because they’re lazy and unreliable, reasons+detail above, they need to improve to keep the team strong. hire xeno and then fire me for being a dick if you want but at the very least please take my comments into consideration.
