  1. >You're just finishing up club activities for the day when you spot the rain beginning to fall outside.
  2. >It starts coming down hard, drops battering off of the windows.
  3. >Sayori and Yuri had already left for the day, leaving you, Natsuki and Monika.
  4. >"I have to lock up. You two should go home before that gets even worse."
  5. >Monika jabs a thumb at the window.
  6. >Your attention turns to Natsuki, who's looking back at you.
  7. >As soon as your eyes lock, she turns away from you.
  8. >"See you tomorrow then."
  9. >Natsuki picks her schoolbag off the floor and leaves the room.
  10. >You say goodbye to Monika and head out too.
  11. >As you walk into the main lobby you come across the little pink girl.
  12. >She's grunting as she struggles to open an umbrella.
  13. >You approach her and speak up.
  14. "Here, let me."
  15. >"No I can do it-Hey!"
  16. >You take the umbrella from her and open it in one go.
  17. >Looking over the opened umbrella, you notice it's ripped in places.
  18. >Natsuki lets out a heavy sigh.
  19. >"I could have done it myself you know!"
  20. "You can't walk home in this."
  21. >"I can so, watch me."
  22. >You close the umbrella again.
  23. "You're not. We'll use mine."
  24. >"Huh?"
  25. >You hand her the umbrella and reach into your bag for your own.
  26. >Pulling it out you open it and place it above you and Natsuki.
  27. "C'mon. I'll walk you home."
  28. >"Y-You don't need to do that, Anon. Seriously!"
  29. "Well, I want to. Now let's go."
  30. >Natsuki concedes and follows you out of the lobby and into the rain.
  31. >The two of you cross the school yard and through the main gates.
  32. >The soft sound of rain pattering against the umbrella makes up for the awkward silence between the two of you.
  33. >Despite the silence, you don't mind having Natsuki's company.
  34. >Walking home often gets lonely, so it's nice to have her around.
  35. >"The rain is kinda nice when it's not getting you wet."
  36. "Hm?"
  37. >"That broken umbrella is a pain in the ass to use."
  38. "I'd imagine so, you should get a new one."
  39. >"I wish. I don't have the money for one."
  40.
  41. "Want mine?"
  42. >"What?"
  43. "Do you want my umbrella?"
  44. >"Anon I can't just-"
  45. "I have spares, it's fine."
  46. >"But you need to walk home!"
  47. "I'll be fine, little rain never hurt."
  48. >"I.. I think I'll be okay."
  49. >She hesitates a bit, before choking on her next words.
  50. >"T-Thanks for the offer, I guess."
  51. "Don't mention it."
  52. >You keep walking next to each other.
  53. >A few more minutes of silence pass.
  54. >As you turn into another street you feel something grab onto your arm.
  55. >Natsuki is holding onto you.
  56. >You look down at her, her face turned away.
  57. >You can still tell she's blushing. Her ear is bright red.
  58. >"It's cold.. Okay?"
  59. "Yeah, it is."
  60. >It's tempting to wrap an arm around her, but she'd probably bite it off.
  61. >Might as well settle for this.
  62. >Finally you reach the gate to Natsuki's yard.
  63. >The house looks quite average, if a little worn.
  64. >The garden however, has seen better days.
  65. >You hear Natsuki mutter something along the lines of.
  66. >"I knew this would happen."
  67. >She lets go of you and turns to face you. Looking up at you with her brilliant pink eyes.
  68. >"Thanks.. Anon."
  69. "It's nothing, Natsuki. Really."
  70. >"I mean it."
  71. >"Thank you."
  72. >You pat her on the head and smile.
  73. "That's what friends are for!"
  74. >She gasps a little at the word "Friends"
  75. >"Yeah I guess. But am I really friends with you, dweeb?!"
  76. >You chuckle. Already knowing the answer.
  77. >Typical Natsuki!
  78. >"I'll see you tomorrow then."
  79. "Yeah, see you."
  80. >A moment of awkward silence passes before Natsuki turns to the garden.
  81. >She pushes the gate open and walks up the path.
  82. >As she reaches the door and fumbles with her keys, she turns to you.
  83. >You smile warmly at her, giving her a small wave.
  84. >A small smile creeps along her face.
  85. >She waves back before pushing the door open and entering. Closing it behind her.
  86. >After standing there for a few moments, you realise how weird you probably look at take off.
  87. >Making way for home.
