Athrun: U-Ung...!

カガリ
「気が付いたか。ここはオーブの飛行艇の中だ。
我々は知らせを受けてあの島へ行き…
浜に倒れていたお前を発見した」
Cagalli: I see you’re awake. At the moment, you’re aboard an Orb aircraft. We got news about what happened and decided to head to the island... That’s where we found you lying on the beach.

アスラン
「中立のオーブが俺に何の用だ?
それとも、今は地球軍か?」
Athrun: What does a neutral nation like Orb want with me? Or am I in the hands of the Earth Alliance now?

カガリ
「聞きたいことがある。
ストライクをやったのは、お前だな?」
Cagalli: There’s something I have to ask. Are you the one who destroyed the Strike?

アスラン
「ああ…」
Athrun: Yeah...

カガリ
「パイロットはどうした!?
お前のように脱出したのか!?
それとも…!」
Cagalli: What happened to the pilot!? Did he eject like you did!? Or...!?

アスラン
「………」
Athrun: ...

カガリ
「見つからないんだ! キラが!」
Cagalli: We couldn’t find Kira anywhere...!

アスラン
「あの爆発で無事だとは思えない…。
あいつは俺が殺した」
Athrun: I killed him. He couldn’t have survived the explosion...

アスラン
「イージスで組み付いて、自爆した。
それしかもう手がなかった…!
あいつを倒すには…!」
Athrun: I latched onto him with the Aegis and blew it up. I did it myself...! I killed him with my own two hands...!

カガリ
「貴様ぁぁ!!」
Cagalli: Bastard!!

(Cagalli points a gun at Athrun.)

アスラン
「でも…何で俺は生きてるんだ…?
あの時、脱出しちゃったからか…?
お前が…俺を撃つからか…?」
Athrun: But why...am I still alive...? I guess because I got out just in time... Or maybe...you’re destined to finish me...?

カガリ
「キラは!
危なっかしくて、わけわかんなくて、
すぐ泣いて…!」
Cagalli: Kira... He took too many risks, didn’t always know what he was doing, and cried all the time...!

カガリ
「でも、優しい…いい奴だったんだぞ!」
Cagalli: But he was kind... He was a nice person!

アスラン
「知ってる…」
Athrun: Yeah, I know...

アスラン
「やっぱり、変わってないんだな…。
昔からそうだ、あいつは…。
泣き虫で甘ったれで…優秀なのにいい加減な奴だ…」
Athrun: Sounds like Kira hadn’t changed a bit... He was always like that... He was a sentimental crybaby...and he was smart, but he never thought things through.

カガリ
「お前、キラを知ってるのか!?」
Cagalli: Did you really know Kira!?

アスラン
「知ってるよ、良く…。
小さい頃から…ずっと友達だったんだ…。
仲良かったよ…」
Athrun: Yes, very well... We’d been friends ever since we were little... We were the best of friends...

カガリ
「それで…何で!?
それで何でお前があいつを殺すんだよ!?」
Cagalli: Then... Why!? If you were such good friends then why the hell would you kill him!?

アスラン
「わからない…わからないさ、俺にも!
別れて…次に会った時には敵だったんだ!」
Athrun: I don’t know... I have no idea why either, okay!? We separated as friends and the next time I saw him we were enemies!

カガリ
「敵…!?」
Cagalli: Enemies...!?

アスラン
「一緒に来いと何度も言った!
あいつは[コーディネイター]だ! 俺達の仲間なんだ!
地球軍にいることの方がおかしい!」
Athrun: I asked him to come with us over and over! He was a [Coordinator]! He was one of us! It wasn’t right for him to be on the side of the Earth Alliance!

カガリ
「お前…!」
Cagalli: So you...!

アスラン
「なのに、あいつは聞かなくて…!
俺達と戦って…仲間を傷つけて…!
ニコルを殺した!」
Athrun: But no matter how much I tried, he wouldn’t listen...! He fought against us, even hurting friends of mine...! And then he killed Nicol!

カガリ
「だから…キラを殺したのか…? お前が!」
Cagalli: And so... That’s why you killed Kira...?

アスラン
「敵なんだ、今のあいつはもう!
なら、倒すしかないじゃないか!」
Athrun: He was an enemy! He wasn’t on my side anymore! I had no other choice but to kill him!

カガリ
「馬鹿野郎! 何でそんなことになる!?
何でそんなことしなきゃならないんだよ!?」
Cagalli: You idiot! How could you ever come up with something so stupid!? How could you end up doing something so terrible!?

アスラン
「あいつはニコルを殺した!
ピアノが好きで、まだ15で…
それでも、[プラント]を守るために戦ってたあいつを!」
Athrun: He killed Nicol! He was only 15, he loved the piano...! He only fought to protect the [PLANTs] and Kira killed him!

カガリ
「キラだって守りたいもののために戦っただけだ!
なのに、何で殺されなきゃならない!
それも友達のお前に!」
Cagalli: The reason Kira fought was to protect other people too! So why did he have to be killed!? And by his best friend, of all people!?

カガリ
「殺されたから殺して、殺したから殺されて…
それでほんとに最後は平和になるのかよ!?
ええ!?」
Cagalli: Someone kills for killing another, then that guy is killed for killing him... How is that kind of twisted thinking ever going to bring us peace!? Well!?

アスラン
「………」
Athrun: ...

フレイ
「ねえ…キラは? どこにいるの?」
Flay: Hey... Is Kira here? Where is he?

サイ
「まだ聞いてなかったのか…」
Sai: I guess you still haven’t heard...

フレイ
「何を?」
Flay: Heard what?

カズイ
「キラはMIA…戦闘中行方不明…」
Kuzzey: Kira’s MIA. ...It stands for missing in action...

フレイ
「え…?」
Flay: Huh?

カズイ
「トールは戦死…。
俺が知ってんのは、それだけだよ」
Kuzzey: And Tolle was killed in action. That’s all I know.

フレイ
「ちょっと待ってよ!
だから、キラはどこ?」
Flay: Wait a minute! I’m asking you, where is Kira!?

カズイ
「だから、わかんないんだよ!
生きてんのかどうかさえ!」
Kuzzey: I already told you, I don’t know! He could be dead or alive!

フレイ
「ちょっと…何よ、それは…!?」
Flay: What is that supposed to mean...!?

カズイ
「もしかしたら、死んだのかも知れない…!」
Kuzzey: It means that he’s probably dead...

フレイ
「死んだ…? キラが…!?」
Flay: Dead...? Kira...!?

(Flay runs off.)

(Miriallia approaches.)

「…サイ」
Miriallia: ...Sai.

サイ
「ミリィ…」
Sai: Milly...

ミリアリア
「ねえ、どうして…?
どうして、トールが死ななきゃいけないの…?」
Miriallia: Can you tell me why...? Why did Tolle have to die...?

(Sousuke and Kurz approach with Dearka in cuffs and at gunpoint.)

ディアッカ
「おい、丁重に扱え! 怪我人だぞ、俺は!」
Dearka: Hey, take it easy! I’m injured, you know!

宗介
「黙って歩け」
Sousuke: Shut up and walk.

クルツ
「そうそう、立場を弁えろってんだ」
Kurz: You really oughta figure out the position you’re in here.

サイ
「あいつ、バスターの…!」
Sai: That’s the Buster’s...!

ミリアリア
「…!」
Miriallia: ...!

ディアッカ
「へえ~?
この艦って、こんな女の子も乗ってんの?」
Dearka: Oh? You’ve got some pretty girls on this ship, I see.

ミリアリア
「………」
Miriallia: ...

ディアッカ
「何泣いてんだよ?
馬鹿で役立たずなナチュラルの彼氏でも
死んだかぁ?」
Dearka: What’s with the waterworks? What, did your good-for-nothing [Natural] boyfriend go and die on you?

ミリアリア
「!!」
Miriallia: !!

(Miriallia hits Dearka. For the next few lines, she has a unique “extremely pissed off” expression.)

「痛ってぇ…!」
Dearka: Ow...!

ミリアリア
「何で!?何でよ!?」
Miriallia: Why!? Why, dammit!?

宗介
「止せ。捕虜への暴行は禁止されている」
Sousuke: Stop. Violence against prisoners is prohibited.

サイ
「落ち着け、ミリィ!」
Sai: Calm down, Milly!

ミリアリア
「離して!
トールが、トールがいないのに!
何でこんな奴がここにいるのよ!!」
Miriallia: Let me go! Tolle’s gone, and he’s never coming back! So what is this scumbag doing here!?

ディアッカ
「!」
Dearka: !

(ビンゴだったのか…)
Dearka: (Guess I was more right than I knew...)

Kaname: Th-That can’t be...

クルツ
「ああ。みんな、相当なショックを受けてる。
フラガ少佐も沈んだ顔をしてるしな」
Kurz: Yeah. Everyone’s pretty shaken up about it. Even Lieutenant Commander Flaga is looking depressed.

豹馬
「あの時、[インベーダー]が現れなきゃ、
キラとトールを助けられたのによ…!」
Hyoma: If those [Invaders] hadn’t shown up, we could have saved Kira and Tolle...!

(戦場にいるってことは
自覚してるつもりだったけど…
いざこういうことになると、きつい…)
Kaname: (I thought I knew that I was on a battlefield already... But when it comes to stuff like this, it’s still tough...)

クルツ
「気持ちはわかるが、割り切るしかねえぜ」
Kurz: I know how you’re feeling, but you can’t let it get to you.

「みんながみんな、
そう出来るわけじゃないんだから」
Kaname: Not everyone can help that.

豹馬
「[モジュール77]とかでも色々あったしな。
シンジなんかも塞ぎ込んでるぜ」
Hyoma: It’s like what happened at [Module 77]. And Shinji’s pretty down in the dumps too.

「身近な人のことだけにね…」
Chizuru: Those two we’re a lot alike...

「でも、あたし…。
キラ君は無事なような気がする」
Kaname: But, I still... I think Kira’s alive.

クルツ
「ストライクの中にいなかったのは事実だけど、
ザフトの連中に捕まった可能性が大だぜ?」
Kurz: It’s true he wasn’t inside the Strike, but there’s a good chance ZAFT caught him.

かなめ
「それでも…
この艦に戻って来るんじゃないかって思う」
Kaname: Still... I just feel like he’ll come back to the ship.

かなめ
「ううん、そうだと信じるわ」
Kaname: No, I believe that he will.

Ra Cailum – Mess Hall


龍馬
「早乙女のジジイめ…結局、現れなかったな」
Ryoma: Old man Saotome didn’t show up after all...

カミーユ
「あのインベーダーは、斥候だったんでしょうね」
Kamille: Those Invaders must have been scouts.

万丈
「ああ。早乙女博士はインベーダーの増殖より、
僕達の行動監視を優先しているかも知れないな」
Banjo: Yeah. It could be that Dr. Saotome is prioritizing keeping an eye on us over increasing the Invader’s numbers.

メグ
「この艦に真ゲッターがあるから、ですか?」
Meg: Is it because we have Shin Getter on this ship?

万丈
「それだけとは思えないけどね」
Banjo: I doubt that’s the only reason.

弁慶
(號か…)
Benkei: (Yeah, Go’s here too...)

ユニス
「もしかして、
ゲッター以外のロボットにも興味があるとか?」
Eunice: Maybe he’s interested in other robots besides Getter.

リナリア
「同意。気になるから、構う」
Rinalia: Agreement. He’s wary of them.

健一
「俺も同意見だな。
インベーダーは何回も唐突に俺達の前へ現れた。
ウルトラマグコンを使った時も…」
Kenichi: I agree too. The Invaders have attacked us out of nowhere time and time again. Like when we used the Ultra Magcon...

健一
「その理由が俺達の機体に
興味を持っているからだとしたら、
納得が行くよ」
Kenichi: It’d make sense for them to attack then if he was looking into our machines.

カミーユ
「しかも、その気になれば融合して取り込める」
Kamille: And if he wanted, he could try to combine them with the Invaders.

鉄也
「そんなことはさせんがな」
Tetsuya: Not that we would ever allow that.

カミーユ
「だけど、俺達の機体以外なら…」
Kamille: But he doesn’t need to use just our machines for that...

ユニス
「確かに…。
インベーダーがモビルスーツの製造工場を
襲ったら、簡単に融合できちゃう」
Eunice: That’s true... If the Invaders attacked a Mobile Suit manufacturing plant, they could combine with them pretty easily.

リナリア
「それがガンダムなら、至極厄介」
Rinalia: If fuse with Gundam, very bad.

渓
「過去に似たような事例はあるんだけど、
最近はないね」
Kei: We’ve had similar cases in the past, but not recently.

ユニス
「その理由は?」
Eunice: Do you know why?

渓
「不明だよ」
Kei: No idea.

鉄也
「それ以前に、腑に落ちないことがある。
インベーダーのエネルギー源は無限の[ゲッター線]で、
増殖にはさほど時間が掛からないと聞いているが…」
Tetsuya: There’s something else that doesn’t add up to me. I’d heard that the Invader’s energy source, [Getter Rays], are infinite because they don’t take much time to multiply.

鉄也
「何故、お前達の世界は
奴らで溢れていないんだ?」
Tetsuya: So why isn’t your world overflowing with Invaders then?

渓
「その理由については、諸説あるんだけど…」
Kei: Well, there‘re a lot of theories as to why that is, but...

弁慶
「奴らは月世界戦争で人類に敗北した。
俺は、そのことが影響しているんじゃないかと
思ってる」
Benkei: Mankind defeated them in the Moon War. Personally, I think that has something to do with it.

万丈
「一度負けたから、
慎重になっているというわけですか?」
Banjo: You mean that now that they’ve lost once, they’re being more cautious?

弁慶
「まあ、そういうことだ」
Benkei: Yeah, something like that.

万丈
(理由としては今一つ弱いな…)
Banjo: (Not the most compelling argument...)

ユニス
「あの…早乙女博士が
わざとインベーダーの数を
増やしてないっていう可能性は?」
Eunice: So, uh... Is it possible Dr. Saotome isn’t increasing the Invader’s numbers on purpose?

渓
「え…?」
Kei: Huh...?

龍馬
「何を言ってやがる。
あのジジイはインベーダーで
ゲッター線を集めてるんだぞ」
Ryoma: The hell are you on about? The old man’s an Invader now, that’s why he’s collecting Getter Rays for them.

ユニス
「それはわかってますけど…
早乙女博士の言動と行動には、
矛盾があるんじゃないかと思うんです」
Eunice: I get that, but like... I just feel like there’s a contradiction between what Dr. Saotome says and what he does.

メグ
「そうね。東京に現れた時、この世界の人達に
戦いを見せ付けてやる…とか何とか言いながら、
割とあっさり撤退したし」
Meg: Yeah. When he appeared in Tokyo, he said something like showing off to the people of this world... But then he withdrew without much of a fight.

万丈
「それ以前に、
インベーダーの脅威を知らしめるためなら、
別の大都市を襲っても良かったはずだしね」
Banjo: And if making the Invaders known was his goal, he could have just as easily attacked another major city.

龍馬
「あの時のジジイの狙いは俺達…
真ゲッターだったんだ」
Ryoma: The old man already targeted us before... Back when we got Shin Getter.

鉄也
「なら、何故、大量のインベーダーを
引き連れて来なかった?
その気になれば、出来たはずだ」
Tetsuya: But then, why didn’t he bring more Invaders with him? If he wanted to, he could have done so easily.

龍馬
「………」
Ryoma: ...

鉄也
「やはり、早乙女の言動と行動は矛盾している。
そして、そこに一連の謎を解く鍵が
あるんじゃないのか?」
Tetsuya: Saotome’s words truly do contradict his actions. Don’t you think figuring out why that is could lead to us solving the mysteries surrounding him?

「…ここまで来れば、後は本艦だけで
アラスカ防空圏内まで辿り着けます。
貴艦は回頭して下さい」
Murrue: ...Now that we’ve come this far, our ship should be able to reach the Alaskan forces radio range on its own. Please turn your ships around.

ブライト
「ああ。
アラスカまで送り届けたいのはやまやまだが、
地球連合軍と揉め事を起こすわけにはいかんのでな」
Bright: Very well. While we would very much like to see you to Alaska ourselves, we don’t want to chance upsetting the Earth Alliance.

マリュー
「事情はわかっております。
お気持ちだけで充分です」
Murrue: I understand completely. Besides, it’s the thought that counts.

ミサト
「アラスカに到着した後は、事情聴取を?」
Misato: I assume you’ll be under investigation once you arrive in Alaska?

マリュー
「ええ…おそらく、すぐにでも」
Murrue: Yes... Probably right away.

アムロ
「向こうは聞きたいことが
山ほどあるだろうからな」
Amuro: I’m sure they have a pile of questions to bombard you with.

ブライト
「君が知り得た情報は、報告してもらって構わん」
Bright: And they will no doubt report anything concerning they learn about.

マリュー
「ですが、必要以上のことを
言うつもりはありません。
そちらの機体に関する情報も含めて」
Murrue: I don’t intend to say more than is necessary, but I will have to tell them about your machines.

アムロ
「この世界だと
オーバーテクノロジー扱いになる物が
いくつかあるからな」
Amuro: Some of the things we possess would be considered super technology, I imagine.

マリュー
「下手をすれば、火種になりかねません。
いくつかのデータは強制的に消去されたと
いうことにしてよろしいでしょうか」
Murrue: If we aren’t careful, it could result in trouble. I take it you won’t mind if we forcibly delete some of the data?

ブライト
「構わんが、ゲートとその脅威に関する情報は
統合最高司令部に伝えてくれ」
Bright: Not at all. However, I do ask that you pass along any information relating to the Gates and the threats we face to your higher ups at Headquarters.

マリュー
「了解しました。
なお、こちらに派遣されたメンバーは
まもなく発艦します」
Murrue: Understood. And before that, we’ll be sending the members you dispatched to us back over to you.

ミサト
「大尉。
お互い、この先どうなるかわかりませんが、
もしまた会う機会があれば…」
Misato: Captain. I don’t know what the future holds for us, but if we ever happen to meet again...

ミサト
「その時はゆっくりと話がしたいですね」
Misato: I think I’d like to sit down and have a chat with you.

マリュー
「プライベートで?」
Murrue: Privately?

ミサト
「もちろん」
Misato: Naturally.

マリュー
「わかりました。是非」
Murrue: By all means, I’d love to.

ムウ
「何だ、いつの間に?」
Mu: Where’s this coming from?

ミサト
「大尉とは色々と共通点があると思って…」
Misato: Oh, I just have a feeling the Captain and I have a lot in common.

ムウ
(まあ、確かに…。
曰く付きの機体に乗った、ナイーブな少年を
抱えているところとかな)
Mu: (Well, that’s true... They both have naïve pilots with difficult situations under their care.)

アムロ
「フラガ少佐、若い連中のことを頼みます」
Amuro: Take care of those kids, Lieutenant Commander Flaga.

ムウ
「もちろん。
そちらも大変だろうが、頑張ってくれ」
Mu: Of course. I know you guys have a lot to deal with, but do your best out there.

マリュー
「では、ブライト大佐…私達はこれで」
Murrue: Well, Captain Bright... This is where we say farewell.

ブライト
「ああ、貴艦の航海の無事を祈る」
Bright: Yes. I wish you a safe voyage.

「…針路上の熱帯低気圧は、勢いを増す一方です。
迂回コースを再考する必要があると思います」
Fosetta: ...The tropical cyclone on our course is only growing stronger. We may need to consider making a detour.

シマ
「では、ブライト大佐と相談する」
Shima: Then we should discuss this with Captain Bright.

ディータ
「司令、デ・ダナンより連絡がありました。
針路を変更せず、[メリダ島]へ向かうとのことです」
Dita: Commander, we’ve received a message from the Danaan. They’re proceeding to [Merida Island] without any course alterations.

シマ
「ここまで来れば、水先案内は不要か。
了承したと伝えてくれ」
Shima: So they don’t believe they need to guide us from here on. Tell them I understand.

ディータ
「了解」
Dita: Yes, sir.

ミナト
「メリダ島へ到着したら、私達はそこで
しばらく滞在することになるのでしょうか?」
Minato: Once we arrive, we’ll be staying at Merida Island for some time, won’t we?

シマ
「ああ、早乙女博士とインベーダーに関する
情報が入るまではな」
Shima: Yes, at least until we have more information on Dr. Saotome and the Invaders.

ミナト
「それで、時間があるのなら…」
Minato: Then, if we have the time for it—

シマ
「ゲートに関する情報を洗い直したい。
特に突発性ゲートは、発生条件が曖昧だ」
Shima: I’d like to review the information we have of the Gates. In particular, the spontaneous Gates that appear abruptly. The details regarding what causes them are still unclear.

ミナト
「あ…はい」
Minato: Ah... Yes, sir.

シマ
「だが、観察者が存在するのであれば…
例えば、例の声の主が何らかの方法で
我々を見ているのであれば…」
Shima: If we say that an observer of some kind exists... For example, if the owner of the voice were able to monitor us somehow...

急速接近中!」
Fosetta: Invader’s identified, 20 degrees to starboard! They’re approaching rapidly!

「内1体から高エネルギー反応…!
ゲッタードラゴンです!」
Fosetta: One of them has an especially high energy reading...! It’s Getter Dragon!

シマ
「ならば、早乙女博士か…!」
Shima: Then it must be Dr. Saotome...!

Episode 56
A Fool’s Question


(Scene begins on a map screen of some islands. The Ra Cailum, the Oceanus, Ryoma, and the player’s team are deployed. Saotome and the Invaders are on the map.)

龍馬
「現れやがったな、ジジイ!」
Ryoma: You finally showed up, gramps!

早乙女博士
「お前はワシを殺したいのだろう?
なのに何故、こんな所をうろついておる?」
Dr. Saotome: You want to kill me, don’t you? So then why are you wondering around a place like this?

龍馬
「うるせえ!
こっちにだって、事情ってもんがあるんだ!」
Ryoma: Shut up! We had our own shit to deal with!

早乙女博士
「そうだろうと思い、ワシから出向いてやったわ」
Dr. Saotome: I thought so. Which is why I’ve now come myself.

鉄也
「ゲッター線の収集という目的を差し置いて…
しかも、それだけの戦力でか?」
Tetsuya: You put your goal of collecting Getter Rays on hold... And yet this is the extent of your forces?

早乙女博士
「ほう、何が言いたい?」
Dr. Saotome: Oh? And just what are you implying?

鉄也
「その気になれば、お前が元いた世界を
インベーダーで席巻できるはず…この世界でもだ」
Tetsuya: If you wanted, you could take over your original world with the Invaders... You could even take over this one.

鉄也
「なのに、どうしてそれをやらん?」
Tetsuya: So why don’t you?

早乙女博士
「フハハハ、愚者の疑問だな!
ワシが手を抜いているとでも思ったか!」
Dr. Saotome: Mwahaha! A fool’s question! You think I’ve been restraining myself?

鉄也
「違うのか?」
Tetsuya: Am I wrong?

早乙女博士
「その疑念こそが、ワシの思う壺よ!」
Dr. Saotome: Your suspicion is exactly what I want!

「何…!?」
Tetsuya: What...!?

早乙女博士
「さあ、もっと疑うがいい! 怯えるがいい!
負の念を撒き散らすがいい!」
Dr. Saotome: Yes, grow your suspicion! Be afraid! Spread your negative emotions!

早乙女博士
「それこそが、
世界に開かれる扉の鍵の一つであろうよ!」
Dr. Saotome: For that is one of the keys necessary to open a door to the worlds!

「!」
Didarion: !

ミサト
「扉の鍵…!?」
Misato: Key to a door..!?

メグ
「そ、それって!」
Meg: Wh-What does that mean!?

シマ
「ゲートを発生させる要因ということか。
だが、推量の言い方だったな」
Shima: He means it’s one of the factors to open the Gates. At least, that is what he assumes.

ミナト
「早乙女博士は確信しているわけではないと?」
Minato: You mean Dr. Saotome isn’t sure himself?

シマ
「ああ」
Shima: Yes.

アムロ
「ゲートの発生条件の一つが負の念…
つまり、マイナスの感情か」

Dr. Saotome: Those lines are the only things a fool like you can remember! Now, come at me!

Dr. Saotome: Don’t be hasty, Ryoma! It’s not time for me to expire just yet!

(Battle 1 ends when Saotome falls below 50% HP.)

だが、まだ足りん…足りんのだ!」
Dr. Saotome: Your strength continues to grow! But it’s not enough... Not enough!
