  9. illuminates reflects off each one.

  12. warehouse. He has an AR slung around the front of him. He
  13. wears a pair of jeans. A tan plate carrier sits over a white
  14. button up shirt. On his shoulder sits a Sentinel Securities
  15. ID.

  17. The bags on Don's eyes show through the dim light. He wears
  18. an earpiece.
  19.  
  20. The radio comes to life as MARCUS MATTHEWS, (34) keys his
  21. microphone.

  24. (earpiece)
  25. All teams, radio check.
  26.  
  27. MICHAEL CHAVEZ, (24) keys his radio.

  97. A louder and more noticeable thud.

  99. Don puts his earpiece back in.

  106. (into mic)
  107. Alpha three reporting, I got

  110. Don slings his rifle forward.

  112. DON (CONT’D)

  115. Don pushes forward and flicks the safety off his rifle.

  120. Louder bangs- Something metallic.
  121.  
  122. His heart races as he moves forward. Don slows down and
  123. begins to control his breaths.

  125. More bangs come from next to him.

  128. Who the fuck is in the container?

  130. He looks to both sides of him.
  131.  
  132. Nothing. Don puts his earpiece back in.

  135. (into earpiece)
  136. Be advised, found the source of the
  137. sound.

  139. MARCUS
  140. Copy that, don't open that till we-

  145. Don takes out a pair of bolt cutters and cuts the locks off
  146. the shipping container. He keeps his hand on his rifle, turns
  147. on its light, and keeps it trained at the door.

  149. Don swings the door open.

  152. INT. SHIPPING CONTAINER - NIGHT
  153.  
  154. His once tired eyes change to those of shock.
  155.  
  156. DON
  157. Oh, fuck.
  158.  
  159. Children lay on cots inside the container. One bucket sits on
  160. each end of the container. Don covers his mouth and tries to
  161. mask the stench of the container.
  162.  
  163. At the very front, a child stands there.
  164.  
  165. CHILD
  166. Mama? Это ты?

  168. DON
  169. What?!
  170.  
  171. Don looks past him and shines his light on the others.

  173. DON (CONT’D)

  176. The child's eyes give Don a blank stare.

  184. Marcus walks into the container.
  185.  
  186. MARCUS

  189. Don lowers his weapon.

  192. Hey man, we gotta go to the feds
  193. about this-

  195. Behind Don, Chavez and Carter appear behind him.
  196.  
  197. Marcus gets closer and holds something sharp in his hand.

  199. DON (CONT’D)
  200. Hey what the fuck are you-

  202. Marcus stabs the child in the shoulder with the syringe and
  203. takes it out.
  204.  
  205. DON (CONT’D)
  206. Motherfucker!
  207.  
  208. Don raises his handgun only for one to put him in a head
  209. lock. The other pulls the gun out of his hand.
  210.  
  211. The child falls in front of him. Don struggles to get out of
  212. their grasp as one kicks the back of his leg and brings him
  213. to his knees. He falls forward and lets off a cry of pain as
  214. he falls forward.
  215.  
  216. Marcus picks the child up and sets him down in an empty cot.
  217.  
  218. Marcus walks over to Don.
  219.  
  220. His demeanor is calm, casual.
  221.  
  222. MARCUS
  223. Donovan Paulsen.
  224. (smiles)
  225. You live with your daughter,
  226. formerly Ashley Wren Jackson, now
  227. Ashley Paulsen at 4333 West Bell
  228. Road, apartment 2043 in Phoenix.

  230. Don looks up at him with anger.
  231.

  233. These are god damn kids!

  238. Don tries to struggle only to get held back as he looks up at
  239. Marcus.

  241. MARCUS (CONT’D)

  244. Don's eyes widen as he looks behind Marcus at the children on
  245. cots.

  248. They're in fucking shipping
  249. containers...

  251. MARCUS
  252. You are standing in front of a
  253. moving train, Don. I'm just
  254. protecting our bottom line. Now.
  255. You get in our way.

  257. He reaches into a holster and pulls out a suppressed Ruger
  258. Mark 2 and chuckles.

  260. MARCUS (CONT’D)
  261. Otherwise, I'm going to kill your
  262. daughter and make you watch.

  264. He reaches into Don's vest pocket and takes out a picture of
  265. Ash.
  266.  
  267. MARCUS (CONT’D)
  268. I've known you awhile buddy.

  270. Don just watches this.

  272. MARCUS (CONT’D)
  273. Honestly, capping four of your guys
  274. isn't a very heroic thin-

  276. Don's eyes widen and light up with anger.

  295. Don goes silent as the anger on his face subsides.

  297. His face changes to that of disgust.

  302. Marcus reaches into another vest pocket. He takes Don's
  303. wallet.

  305. Marcus takes out Don's license snaps a photo of it. He puts
  306. it all back and throws his wallet down.

  310. it.

  312. The two agents let him go.
  313.

  317. The three walk out.
  318.  
  319. Don still looks at the container, shock in his eyes.

  321. The kids in cots line the shipping container as Don stands
  322. back up and walks out.

  324. The light inside the crate goes away as Don closes it.

  329. INT. CORPORATE OFFICE - DAY

  331. SENTINEL SECURITIES, is visible against a wall.

  334. I can't believe they actually took

  337. Don walks through a corridor.

  339. He wears a suit, the jacket open.

  341. DAWN "MICHELLE" PAULSEN, (34) walks beside him.

  343. MICHELLE
  344. Well, a lot of things tend to when
  345. you're the "Hero of Houston". Big
  346. damn hero you are.

  392. on our team.

  394. Don shakes his hand and shoots a nervous grin.

  397. So, what am I going to be doing
  398. exactly? I wasn't really clued in
  399. on that.

  402. Just security on high value cargo
  403. from the Ukraine.

  405. Don nods.

  412. course, no real preference. It's

  415. Marcus shoots a warm smile to him.

  420. Marcus puts his hand out and offers a handshake.

  422. The two shake hands.

  436. Don walks out and takes the elevator down.

  443. Don gets into his car and takes out his phone.

  445. He thumbs through his contacts and calls "Ashley".
  446.  
  447. Don waits a few moments. Ash picks up the call.

  449. ASH (O.S.)
  450. Yeah, what's up?
  451.  
  452. DON
  453. Hey, just got off work, you need
  454. anything?
  455.  
  456. ASH (O.S.)
  457. Snap-Ons would be nice.
  458.  
  459. DON

  471. Don gets on the freeway. The hair on his arms stick up. His
  472. vision starts to close in as he continues to drive.

  480. Don looks forward and drives through traffic.

  488. barely had enough to afford the
  489. mortgage and your security gig
  490. wasn't enough to-

  497. The empty seat sits next to him. He shakes his head.

  506. EXT. APARTMENT PARKING LOT - DAY

  508. The Mustang pulls up to the apartment. Don steps out and
  509. closes the door behind him. He locks the car.

  512. INT. APARTMENT - DAY

  514. Don walks in and closes the door behind him. Ash sits on a
  515. PS4.
  516.  
  517. He motions to the dishes.
  518.  
  519. DON
  520. You plan on getting these done any
  521. time soon?

  523. ASH
  524. Yeah, yeah, sure dad.
  525.  
  526. Don sits on the couch next to her.

  531. Ash shrugs.

  570. A newer model TV sits there plugged into a PS2, a PS4, and a
  571. PS3.

  573. A gaming PC rig sits next to all of those. A walk in closet
  574. sits in front of him. To his right is a bathroom. He goes
  575. into the restroom and comes out to get ready. He's freshly
  576. shaved, his hair in neat order.
  577.  
  578. He puts on his clothes and puts on his white dress shirt with
  579. a plate carrier, then puts on a pair of jeans.
  580.  
  581. He reaches for a pair of tan combat boots and puts them on.
  582.  
  583. Don goes into the walk in closet, taking an AR out of it then
  584. puts his Sig in its holster and walks out of the room.

  587. MAIN APARTMENT

  589. Don walks over to Ash. She takes the time to look over.

  592. Gonna go shoot someone?

  598. head out, make sure those damn
  599. dishes are done when I get back.

  609. The door to the conex box closes behind him.

  662. Don opens the trunk to his mustang and puts his plate carrier
  663. in it.

  773. Don comes into his apartment and turns the light on.

  782. He goes into her room. She's sleeping.

  789. Don rolls his eyes. He goes into the kitchen and starts
  790. washing dishes.

  792. During this, Ash comes out.

  817. Don's eyes widen. He stops cleaning the dishes and dries his
  818. hands on his jeans.

  820. He opens it up and looks at the cartridge in it.

  827. Don reaches out for it.

  861. A knock at the door. The clock on the microwave reads,
  862. "12:00".

  864. Don reaches into the side of his waistband and takes out his
  865. Colt Defender.

  868. Ash, get away from the door.

  870. ASH
  871. Dad?

  873. Don gets in front of her and keeps his gun trained at the
  874. door.

  877. Who's there?!

  879. IND PERSON 2 (O.S.)
  880. Delivery service.

  882. The footsteps move away from the door.
  883.  
  884. Don keeps the gun against the door and looks through the
  885. peephole.

  887. He looks into it. A figure wearing jeans and a hoodie runs
  888. down the staircase.
  889.  
  890. Don opens the door, his weapon aimed forward.
  891.  
  892. A yellow envelope sits on the ground below.
  893.  
  894. Don holsters his gun and takes it.
  895.  
  896. DON
  897. Ash-

  899. Don stops. He opens the envelope.
  900.  
  901. Pictures of Ash going into class appear. They all carry red
  902. Xes on them.
  903.  
  904. More photos appear as he looks through them.
  905.  
  906. ASH
  907. Dad, what is it?
  908.  
  909. DON
  910. Fuck.
  911.  
  912. Don's eyes widen.

  914. ASH
  915. Dad? Talk to me!

  917. Ash looks at him with concern.

  919. Don goes into his room and closes the door behind him.

  924. Don sits at his desk and dumps out the pictures in front of
  925. him.

  927. He places his hands on his head as he starts to look through
  928. all of them.

  933. He lays them all out.

  935. The photos are all time stamped with the Don and Ash's
  936. routine. Ash works on her car in one photo.

  938. In another, Don is out on a run.

  943. Don buries his head in his hands.

  952. Don takes his gun out of his waistband and puts it to the
  953. side of his skull. Tears roll down his eyes.
