Four Fates Under the Southern Sun PF, Session 23

Start: 4 pm, Foreautumn 12, 401 GA

The party loots the fallen and fans out, exploring this level of the enclave of the unseen eye.

They find many crafting areas, namely those growing psychically active crystals and one utilizing captured psicrystals of enemy psions trapped within silver prisons as fuel to craft items.

Each path ahead appeared to be sealed with walls of force embedded in hemispherical globes to more completely prevent passage, except directly down into the mushroom grove.

Delving deeper, they find a torture chamber with several notable bloodstains. There appeared to be evidence of dwarf blood, human blood, and an unknown sample which strikingly bore cyanohemoglobin. They examine the nearby door, which appears to go into a prison area. The force wall guarding this portal dissipates when they near it, ominously.

Mira examines the area for clues, finding a partially burnt scrap of paper. It mentions an experiment matching 'the mistress's designs', of which there were sixty-seven iterations of, at the time of the paper's writing. It mentions making progress, and being hopeful for a success.

The Spider Queen and Mira team up to investigate the prison. Mira shrinks Xander and has him go invisible, and the Spider Queen manipulates his form to be extremely difficult to detect, and grants him the ability to squeeze through incredibly tight openings. Proceeding, Xander scouts ahead.

Inside the prison, Xander espies several brain oozes, an unbodied psion, a chain golem and several prisoners. The prisoners all appear to be clad in collars studded with psionically active crystals which significantly impair them. One is a gnoll, one is a red haired human, and another is a squid-like creature is known as a Athaekeetha. Athaekeetha are degenerated descendants of a once great psionic race, which hunted sentients and commanded great powers. Once the last of their elder brains became sick, their empire collapsed.

The Spider Queen shapes the stone around the top side of the prison to extend the range which Xander has. Xander utilizes this and uncovers quarters, a dining area, and eventually, Dramira's cell. It appears that like the others, Dramira is subjugated in this fashion.

The party discussed their plan of action, electing to wall off this area for now, ideally imprisoning the captives and captors within.

They decided to attempt burrowing into the enclave temple, and were unsuccessful with their efforts. They find a wall of force, shaped in the area's boundries within a small hollow of stone. Rather than electing to attempt to break through this barrier, they delved downwards in the hopes of finding an alternate entrance to the place.

Deep, deep down, they find the entrance to the ground level of the fungal grove. It perplexingly reminds the Spider Queen of her home in many details, despite being thousands of miles away. This level of the grove is strewn with skeletal remains of humanoids. Several examples of the remains appear to be failed experiments, unceremoniously dumped here. Glancing around, this area appeared to be a garbage dump of sorts, but not one fully unattended.

The drider webs alarmed them, but not enough to cease their exploration. They found examples of uncharged psionic crystal in the chamber. During their exploration, they were ambushed by a group of driders. One example of this creature appeared to be a created melded creature, while the others appeared to be native descendants of discarded experiments.

During the combat, the drider experiment announced 'Foolish interlopers, we will not bow to your recluse or your blind eye.' mistakenly assuming the affiliations of the party.

The party emerged victorious, slaying a fleeing drider, and accepting the yield of one who introduced herself as Ve'Ramie. She offered to lead the party through the spawning pit into a back entrance of the compound. She gave the impression of being truthful, but traitorous in nature, which should indicate to the party to take caution with her.
