  2. The Wonders of Custom Game!
  3. Guide created by ben bpitcher2013
  4.
  5.
  6. You’ve probably have seen it all, Shedinjas with Sturdy, Deoxys-Speed with No Guard, Electric Pokemon with Levitate, you want to get back at them? Well, did you know that you can have more than 4 moves, Pokemon up to level 9999, or even have more than 6 Pokemon on a team? Keep reading on, so you, yourself can become a master at Custom Game!
  7.
  8. First of all, What is Custom Game?
  9.
  10. Custom Game is a gamemode only exclusively available to players that challenge a trainer. There are no rules basically in this gamemode, so you can do anything from Metronome Battles to Classic Hackmon Battles, Custom Battle is basically just a huge Sandbox with barely any limitations at all!
  11.
  12. Things you can do in Custom Game that you can’t with regular metas:
  13.
  14. ~ ILLEGAL POKEMON
  15. ___________________
  16.
  17. More obviously, you can incorporate any Pokemon you can in there, from Unreleased Pokemon such as Eternal Floette or the Original Magearna, to CAPmons like Arghonaut or Kerfluffle, and even Glitch Pokemon like Missingno. To add them, simply type the name of the Pokemon. For CAPmons, simply change the meta to CAPmons, and that list will show up.
  18.
  19. ~ ILLEGAL MOVESETS
  20. ___________________
  21.
  22. Like the Pokemon, you can incorportate any moveset you want, including Z-Moves.
  23.
  24. POINT OF ADVICE!:
  25. Do not add Z-Moves that have a varying base power like Breakneak Blitz or Savage Spin-Out. They will only do 1 Point of damage, no matter what type you are. Pokemon-Specific Z-Moves however, like Clangorous Soulblaze or Malicious Moonsault. work just fine.
  26.
  27. There are also a couple hidden moves in there that only CAPmons can learn, feel free to incorporate them to your pokemon as well. Here’s the known moves:
  28.
  29. Paleo Wave
  30. Power: 85
  31. Accuracy: 100%
  32. PP: 24
  33. A Rock-Type Special Move that has a 20% chance to lower the target’s attack by 1.
  34. Learned by Stratagem
  35.
  36. Shadow Strike
  37. Power: 80
  38. Accuracy: 95%
  39. PP: 16
  40. A Ghost-Type Physical Move that has a 50% chance to lower the target’s defense by 1.
  41. Learned by Kitsunoh
  42.
  43. ~ ILLEGAL ABILITIES
  44. ____________________
  45.
  46. Like the movesets, there are some hidden abilities that are found in only in CAPmons, again, feel free to incorporate them.
  47.
  48. Rebound
  49. On switch-in, some status moves and field hazards are bounced back onto the opposing side, (Magic Bounce can do this too however.)
  50. Learned by Colossoil
  51.
  52.
  53. Persistant
  54. The duration of certain field effects such as Trick Room, Gravity, or Mud Sport now lasts two additional turns.
  55. Learned by Fidgit
  56.
  57.
  58. Mountaineer
  59. On switch-in, Rock-Type moves and Stealth Rock have no effect on it.
  60. Learned by Syclant
  61.
  62.
  63. ~ ILLEGAL ITEMS
  64. _________________
  65.
  66. When it comes to Custom Game, there are even illegal ITEMS as well, these items were only exclusive to Generation 2, and have been not used since. Here’s a couple of notable ones.
  67.
  68. Berserk Gene
  69. Upon switch-in, The Pokemon’s Attack is raised by two stages, but will become confused upon switch in. (Basically, giving it a Swagger effect)
  70.
  71. Pink Bow
  72. Raises Normal-Type moves by 10%
  73.
  74.
  75. ~ LEVELS HIGHER THAN 100
  76. _____________________________
  77.
  78. Now, this is probably why you’re here, you want to get back at that moron that used a level 9999 Pokemon on you and completely crushed your team as if they were bugs on a windshield. Well, to do this, it’s actually pretty simple.
  79.
  80. 1. Go to the Teambuilder.
  81. 2. Go to a desired Pokemon, whether you’re creating a new one or using an old pokemon.
  82. 3. Click on the Import/Export button on the top right-hand corner of the builder.
  83. You should come across something like this:
  84.
  85. (Pokemon) (Gender) @ (Item)
  86. Ability:
  87. EVs:
  88. (Nature)
  89. - (move)
  90. - (move)
  91. - (move)
  92. - (move)
  93.
  94. OR, if it’s a new pokemon...
  95.
  96. (Pokemon)
  97. (Ability)
  98.
  99. ———————————
  100.
  101. 4. Now, to tweak the level, simply type this in a new space, (doesn’t matter where)
  102.
  103. “Level: (The desired Level)”
  104.
  105. So, now, it should look something like this:
  106.
  107. (Pokemon) (Gender) @ (Item)
  108. Ability:
  109. Level: 9999
  110. EVs:
  111. (Nature)
  112. - (move)
  113. - (move)
  114. - (move)
  115. - (move)
  116.
  117. OR, if it’s a new pokemon...
  118.
  119. (Pokemon)
  120. (Ability)
  121. Level: 9999
  122.
  123. 5. Simply press save, and Voila! You have yourself a God Pokemon!
  124.
  125. REMEMBER: THE HIGHEST LEVEL A POKEMON CAN GO IS 9999, ANY HIGHER AND THE GAME WILL CRASH ON YOU!
  126. -Just kidding, it will simply bring the level down to 9999. That’s unfortunate I know.
  127.
  128. Tips and Guidelines:
  129.
  130. - Be Careful when changing your Pokemon settings, like Gender, Shininess, or Happiness, it will reset the Pokemon back to 100 once you change it. so just repeat the process in case that happens.
  131.
  132. ~ MORE THAN 4 MOVES
  133. ________________________
  134.
  135. Remember that time in the anime where Ash’s Snorlax somehow learned 6 moves? Yeah, crazy, right? But, did you know you can do it here as well? Well here’s how to add additional moveslots for your Pokemon.
  136.
  137. (It’s basically the same process as having your Pokemon turn Level 9999, but with a different step at the end!)
  138.
  139. 1. Go to the Teambuilder
  140. 2. Go to a desired Pokemon, whether you’re creating a new one or using an old pokemon.
  141. 3. Click on the Import/Export button on the top right-hand corner of the builder.
  142. You should come across something like this:
  143.
  144. (Pokemon) (Gender) @ (Item)
  145. Ability:
  146. EVs:
  147. (Nature)
  148. - (move)
  149. - (move)
  150. - (move)
  151. - (move)
  152.
  153. OR, if it’s a new pokemon...
  154.
  155. (Pokemon)
  156. (Ability)
  157.
  158.
  159. 4 (1/2). If you already have four moves, simply add another dash below the last one with the name of a move, for example:
  160.
  161. - Spore
  162. - Minimize
  163. - Ingrain
  164. - Baton Pass
  165. - Acupressure
  166. - Geomancy
  167. - Light That Burns The Sky
  168. - Splash
  169.
  170. And so on...
  171.
  172. 4 (2/2). If you started with a new Pokemon, first add four moves naturally, before going to the Import/Export step.
  173.
  174. 5. Simply press Save, and Voila! You are now better than Ash’s Snorlax!
  175.
  176. REMEMBER: THE MAXIMUM MOVES YOU CAN HAVE ON A POKEMON IS 24.
  177. - Any higher, and the game will simply ignore the additional moves you added, and will only incorporate the first 24 you’ve inputted.
  178.
  179. Tips and Guidelines:
  180. - Do not add a Z-Move that has a varying base power like Hydro Vortex or Bloom Doom, even if your type is the same as it. By default, it’s base power will always be 1. Pokemon-Specific Z-Moves however like Oceanic Operetta or Catastropika will work just fine.
  181. - Illegal Moves work too! (See Illegal Moves for more info)
  182.
  183. ~ MORE THAN 6 POKEMON
  184. ________________________
  185.
  186. With Custom Game, a neat little update is that you can now have more than 6 Pokemon in a game at once, why stop at 6 Legendary Pokemon when you can have them ALL on your team?!
  187.
  188. The process to add more Pokemon is a little trickier, you can do this one of two ways:
  189.
  190. THE QUICK METHOD (for teams that usually start from scratch)
  191.
  192. 1. Go to the teambuilder.
  193. 2. Click New Team
  194. 3. Click on the Import/Export button next to the team name. It should be a blank page.
  195. 4. Type in the desired Pokemon you want, up to 24 times! For Example...
  196.
  197. Mewtwo
  198.
  199. Mew
  200.
  201. Audino-Mega
  202.
  203. Groudon-Primal
  204.
  205. Lycanroc-Dusk
  206.
  207. Rotom-Fan
  208.
  209. Barbaracle
  210.
  211. Magikarp
  212.
  213. Necrozma-Ultra
  214.
  215. And so on...
  216.
  217. 5. Click save, and all of the Pokemon should appear on the roster, thus you can tweak them accordingly.
  218.
  219. THE COPY/PASTE METHOD
  220. If you have a specifically made Pokemon that you don’t want to recreate from scratch again, simply do this process.
  221.
  222. 1. Go to the Team Builder
  223. 2. Go to the desired Pokemon.
  224. 3. Press the Import/Export button on the Pokemon itself.
  225. 4. Copy all of the text on the page.
  226. 5. Back out twice to be back on the main page of Teambuilder, (or once if you want to tweak with the team you’re on)
  227. 6. Visit the Import/Export button next to the team name, whether you’re creating a new one or using the current one.
  228. 7. Paste the Pokemon info preferably on the bottom of the page, and you can keep pasting it up to 24 times if you want a set of 24 of the same Pokemon. Make sure to leave a space, if it’s all bunched together, the data will be messed up.
  229. 8. Save and you’re done!
  230.
  231. REMEMBER: THE MAXIMUM POKEMON YOU CAN HAVE ON A TEAM IS 24.
  232. -Like with the movesets, If you try to incorporate more, it will ignore any additional Pokemon, and will only detect the first 24.
  233.
  234. Tips and Guidelines:
  235. -This is the only way to incorporate more than 6 Pokemon, as you can’t simply press +Add Pokemon once you’re up to six.
  236.
  237. ~ MISCELLANEOUS
  238. ________________
  239. * Adding a Gender to a Legendary or other Genderless Pokemon
  240.
  241. Funnily enough, you can add genders to a Genderless Pokemon. To do this, simply go to the Import/Export page of the Pokemon, for example:
  242.
  243. Rotom @ Choice Scarf
  244. Ability: Levitate
  245. EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
  246. Timid Nature
  247. IVs: 0 Atk
  248. - Will-O-Wisp
  249. - Volt Switch
  250. - Pain Split
  251. - Trick
  252.
  253. Simply add a (M) or (F) next to their name, save, then you have yourself a gendered Legendary!
  254.
  255. Rotom (M) @ Choice Scarf
  256. Ability: Levitate
  257. EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
  258. Timid Nature
  259. IVs: 0 Atk
  260. - Will-O-Wisp
  261. - Volt Switch
  262. - Pain Split
  263. - Trick
  264.
  265. REMEMBER: THE SAME DOES NOT APPLY FOR GENDERED POKEMON BEING GENDERLESS, IT WILL GLITCH THE POKEMON.
  266.
  267. * Max EVs on ALL stats.
  268.
  269. With Custom Game, the EV limit can be raised, quite simply, put 252 on every stat, and you’ve successfully went over the limit! In Custom Game, they won’t care.
  270.
  271.
  272. ~ CONCLUSION
  273. _____________
  274.
  275. So there you have it, these are all the things you can do in a Custom Game match. As for the things you can’t do? Here’s a list of things you can’t do in Custom:
  276.
  277. - Custom Types, like an Electric Deoxys or a Psychic/Fairy Blacephalon.
  278. - Triple Battles that have more than 24 Pokemon.
  279. - Levels Exceeding 9999
  280. - Moves Exceeding 24
  281. - Pokemon Exceeding 24
  282. - Making your own Abilities, Moves, or even Pokemon that isn’t CAP.
  283.
  284. But otherwise, the only limit to Custom Game is your imagination. Create boss battles with fun gimmicks, Prank your over-confident friends by sweeping them with a Level 9999 Magikarp, Have two full-blown armies fight to the death! And with that, if they ever ask how you did it. Direct them to this page. Let the knowledge of Custom game spread throughout, so that we can suggest things that we can do with Custom Game! To make Pokemon Showdown more than just a place to battle, but to exceed your imagination with a team that can be considered...Unstoppable.
